سورة الجن

72. Surah Al-Jinn
The Jinn

In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem

Say thou: “It is revealed to me, that a band of the domini listened in, and they said: ‘We have heard an amazing recitation

قُلْ اُو۫حِيَ اِلَيَّ اَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُٓوا اِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْاٰناً عَجَباًۙ

Qul oohiya ilayya annahu istamaAAanafarun mina aljinni faqaloo inna samiAAnaqur-anan AAajaba

“‘Guiding to sound judgment, and we have believed in it, and will not ascribe a partnership with our Lord to anyone.’

يَهْد۪ٓي اِلَى الرُّشْدِ فَاٰمَنَّا بِه۪ۜ وَلَنْ نُشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَٓا اَحَداًۙ

Yahdee ila arrushdi faamannabihi walan nushrika birabbina ahada

“And that: ‘Exalted be the majesty of our Lord! He has taken neither consort nor son.’

وَاَنَّهُ تَعَالٰى جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَةً وَلَا وَلَداًۙ

Waannahu taAAala jaddu rabbinama ittakhatha sahibatan wala walada

“And that: ‘The fool among us ascribed a wanton falsehood to God.’

وَاَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَف۪يهُنَا عَلَى اللّٰهِ شَطَطاًۙ

Waannahu kana yaqoolu safeehunaAAala Allahi shatata

“And that: ‘We had thought that the servi and the domini would not ascribe a lie to God.’

وَاَنَّا ظَنَنَّٓا اَنْ لَنْ تَقُولَ الْاِنْسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباًۙ

Waanna thanannaan lan taqoola al-insu waljinnu AAala Allahikathiba

“And that: ‘Men among the servi sought protection with men against the domini, so they increased them in baseness.’

وَاَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِنَ الْاِنْسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقاًۙ

Waannahu kana rijalun minaal-insi yaAAoothoona birijalin mina aljinni fazadoohumrahaqa

“And that: ‘They thought, as you thought, that God would never raise up anyone.’

وَاَنَّهُمْ ظَنُّوا كَمَا ظَنَنْتُمْ اَنْ لَنْ يَبْعَثَ اللّٰهُ اَحَداًۙ

Waannahum thannoo kama thanantuman lan yabAAatha Allahu ahada

“And that: ‘We touched the heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames.’

وَاَنَّا لَمَسْنَا السَّمَٓاءَ فَوَجَدْنَاهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَساً شَد۪يداً وَشُهُباًۙ

Waanna lamasna assamaafawajadnaha muli-at harasan shadeedanwashuhuba

“And that: ‘We sat there on seats to hear; but whoso listens in now finds for him a flame waiting.’

وَاَنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَاعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِۜ فَمَنْ يَسْتَمِعِ الْاٰنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَاباً رَصَداًۙ

Waanna kunna naqAAudu minhamaqaAAida lissamAAi faman yastamiAAi al-anayajid lahu shihaban rasada

“And that: ‘We know not whether evil is intended for him who is in the earth, or whether their Lord intends for them rectitude.’

وَاَنَّا لَا نَدْر۪ٓي اَشَرٌّ اُر۪يدَ بِمَنْ فِي الْاَرْضِ اَمْ اَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَداًۙ

Waanna la nadree asharrunoreeda biman fee al-ardi am arada bihim rabbuhumrashada

“And that: ‘Among us are those righteous, and among us are other than that; we are of diverse paths.’

وَاَنَّا مِنَّا الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذٰلِكَۜ كُنَّا طَرَٓائِقَ قِدَداًۙ

Waanna minna assalihoonawaminna doona thalika kunna tara-iqaqidada

“And that: ‘We know that we will never escape God in the earth, nor will we escape Him by flight.’

وَاَنَّا ظَنَنَّٓا اَنْ لَنْ نُعْجِزَ اللّٰهَ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَلَنْ نُعْجِزَهُ هَرَباًۙ

Wanna thanannaan lan nuAAjiza Allaha fee al-ardi walan nuAAjizahuharaba

“And that: ‘When we heard the guidance, we believed in it; and whoso believes in his Lord, he will fear neither loss nor baseness.’

وَاَنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا الْهُدٰٓى اٰمَنَّا بِه۪ۜ فَمَنْ يُؤْمِنْ بِرَبِّه۪ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْساً وَلَا رَهَقاًۙ

Waanna lamma samiAAnaalhuda amanna bihi faman yu/min birabbihifala yakhafu bakhsan wala rahaqa

“And that: ‘Among us are those submitting, and among us are the unjust.And whoso has submitted, those have sought rectitude.

وَاَنَّا مِنَّا الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا الْقَاسِطُونَۜ فَمَنْ اَسْلَمَ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْا رَشَداً

Waanna minna almuslimoonawaminna alqasitoona faman aslama faola-ikataharraw rashada

“‘And as for the unjust, they are firewood for Gehenna.’”

وَاَمَّا الْقَاسِطُونَ فَكَانُوا لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَباًۙ

Waama alqasitoona fakanoolijahannama hataba

And had they but been upright upon the path, We would have given them water to drink in abundance,

وَاَنْ لَوِ اسْتَقَامُوا عَلَى الطَّر۪يقَةِ لَاَسْقَيْنَاهُمْ مَٓاءً غَدَقاًۙ

Waallawi istaqamoo AAala attareeqatilaasqaynahum maan ghadaqa

That We might subject them to means of denial thereby. And whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to enter a grievous punishment.

لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ ف۪يهِۚ وَمَنْ يُعْرِضْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّه۪ يَسْلُكْهُ عَذَاباً صَعَداًۙ

Linaftinahum feehi waman yuAArid AAanthikri rabbihi yasluk-hu AAathaban saAAada

And the places of worship belong to God — so call not with God to anyone.

وَاَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلّٰهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللّٰهِ اَحَداًۙ

Waanna almasajida lillahi falatadAAoo maAAa Allahi ahada

“And that, when the servant of God stood up, calling to Him, they were almost a compact mass about him.”

وَاَنَّهُ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اللّٰهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُوا يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَداًۜ۟

Waannahu lamma qama AAabdu AllahiyadAAoohu kadoo yakoonoona AAalayhi libada

Say thou: “I but call to my Lord, and ascribe not a partnership with Him to anyone.”

قُلْ اِنَّمَٓا اَدْعُوا رَبّ۪ي وَلَٓا اُشْرِكُ بِه۪ٓ اَحَداً

Qul innama adAAoo rabbee walaoshriku bihi ahada

Say thou: “I have no power over you for harm or for rectitude.”

قُلْ اِنّ۪ي لَٓا اَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَراًّ وَلَا رَشَداً

Qul innee la amliku lakum darranwala rashada

Say thou: “None will grant me protection against God, nor will I find, besides Him, a refuge

قُلْ اِنّ۪ي لَنْ يُج۪يرَن۪ي مِنَ اللّٰهِ اَحَدٌ وَلَنْ اَجِدَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ مُلْتَحَداًۙ

Qul innee lan yujeeranee mina Allahiahadun walan ajida min doonihi multahada

“Save notification from God and His messages.” And whoso opposes God and His messenger, for him is the fire of Gehenna; they abiding eternally therein forever.

اِلَّا بَلَاغاً مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَرِسَالَاتِه۪ۜ وَمَنْ يَعْصِ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَاِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَٓا اَبَداًۜ

Illa balaghan mina Allahiwarisalatihi waman yaAAsi Allahawarasoolahu fa-inna lahu nara jahannama khalideenafeeha abada

When they have seen what they are promised, then will they know who is weaker in helper and fewer in number.

حَتّٰٓى اِذَا رَاَوْا مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ اَضْعَفُ نَاصِراً وَاَقَلُّ عَدَداً

Hatta itha raaw mayooAAadoona fasayaAAlamoona man adAAafu nasiranwaaqallu AAadada

Say thou: “I know not whether that which you are promised is near, or my Lord will make for it a span.”

قُلْ اِنْ اَدْر۪ٓي اَقَر۪يبٌ مَا تُوعَدُونَ اَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ رَبّ۪ٓي اَمَداً

Qul in adree aqareebun ma tooAAadoonaam yajAAalu lahu rabbee amada

The Knower of the Unseen, He discloses not His Unseen to anyone,

عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلٰى غَيْبِه۪ٓ اَحَداًۙ

AAalimu alghaybi fala yuthhiruAAala ghaybihi ahada

Save to a messenger He has approved: “And that, He sends before him and after him watchers,

اِلَّا مَنِ ارْتَضٰى مِنْ رَسُولٍ فَاِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِه۪ رَصَداًۙ

Illa mani irtada min rasoolinfa-innahu yasluku min bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihi rasada

“That He might know that they have delivered the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed what is with them, and counted all things by number.”

لِيَعْلَمَ اَنْ قَدْ اَبْلَغُوا رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَاَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَاَحْصٰى كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَداً

LiyaAAlama an qad ablaghoo risalatirabbihim waahata bima ladayhim waahsa kullashay-in AAadada
