In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
Bismi Allahi arrahmani arraheem
When the sky is split asunder
اِذَا السَّمَٓاءُ انْشَقَّتْۙ
Itha assamao inshaqqat
And hearkens to its Lord, as it must,
وَاَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْۙ
Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat
And when the earth is spread out
وَاِذَا الْاَرْضُ مُدَّتْۙ
Wa-itha al-ardu muddat
And casts forth all that is in it and is empty,
وَاَلْقَتْ مَا ف۪يهَا وَتَخَلَّتْۙ
Waalqat ma feeha watakhallat
And hearkens to its Lord, as it must––
وَاَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْۜ
Waathinat lirabbiha wahuqqat
O man: thou art toiling towards thy Lord with labour, and wilt meet Him!
يَٓا اَيُّهَا الْاِنْسَانُ اِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَدْحاً فَمُلَاق۪يهِۚ
Ya ayyuha al-insanuinnaka kadihun ila rabbika kadhanfamulaqeeh
Then as for him who is given his writ in his right hand:
فَاَمَّا مَنْ اُو۫تِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَم۪ينِه۪ۙ
Faama man ootiya kitabahubiyameenih
He will be called to account with an easy reckoning,
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَاباً يَس۪يراًۙ
Fasawfa yuhasabu hisabanyaseera
And he will return to his people in happiness.
وَيَنْقَلِبُ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِه۪ مَسْرُوراًۜ
Wayanqalibu ila ahlihi masroora
And as for him who is given his writ behind his back:
وَاَمَّا مَنْ اُو۫تِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَٓاءَ ظَهْرِه۪ۙ
Waamma man ootiya kitabahu waraathahrih
He will call for destruction,
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا ثُبُوراًۙ
Fasawfa yadAAoo thuboora
He was among his people in happiness;
اِنَّهُ كَانَ ف۪ٓي اَهْلِه۪ مَسْرُوراً
Innahu kana fee ahlihi masroora
He thought he would never return.
اِنَّهُ ظَنَّ اَنْ لَنْ يَحُورَۚۛ
Innahu thanna an lan yahoor
Verily, his Lord saw him.
بَلٰىۚۛ اِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِه۪ بَص۪يراًۜ
Bala inna rabbahu kana bihi baseera
Then do I swear by the twilight glow!
فَلَٓا اُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِۙ
Fala oqsimu bishshafaq
And by the night and what it envelops!
وَالَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَۙ
Wallayli wama wasaq
And by the moon when it is full!
وَالْقَمَرِ اِذَا اتَّسَقَۙ
Walqamari itha ittasaq
You will embark upon stage after stage.
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقاً عَنْ طَبَقٍۜ
Latarkabunna tabaqan AAan tabaq
Then what ails them that they do not believe,
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَۙ
Fama lahum la yu/minoon
And when the Qur’an is recited to them, do not submit?
وَاِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْاٰنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَۜ
Wa-itha quri-a AAalayhimu alqur-anula yasjudoon
The truth is, those who ignore warning deny,
بَلِ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَۘ
Bali allatheena kafaroo yukaththiboon
And God best knows what they hoard.
وَاللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَۘ
Wallahu aAAlamu bimayooAAoon
So give thou them tidings of a painful punishment,
فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ اَل۪يمٍۙ
Fabashshirhum biAAathabin aleem
Save those who heed warning and do righteous deeds — they have a reward unending.
اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ اَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ
Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lahum ajrun ghayrumamnoon
