And they say: “Upon our hearts are coverings against that to which thou invitest us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a partition; then work thou — we are working.”

They say, ‘Our hearts are covered up against what you call us to and there is a heaviness in our ears. There is a screen between us and you. So act – we are certainly acting.’
And they said: "Our hearts are sealed from what you invite us to, and in our ears is a deafness, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do what you will, and so will we."
And so they say, "Our hearts are veiled from what you invite us to, and (consider) there is deafness in our ears, and that between us and you is a barrier. So, do as you will (mind your business), and, behold, we shall do as we have been doing."
And they say: “Upon our hearts are coverings against that to which thou invitest us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a partition; then work thou — we are working.”
And they said: "Our hearts are sealed from what you invite us to, and in our ears is a deafness, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do what you will, and so will we."
They said, "Our hearts are sealed from what you invite us to, in our ears is deafness, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do what you will, and so will we."
They said, "Our minds are made up, our ears are deaf to your message, and a barrier separates us from you. Do what you want, and so will we."
And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)."
And they say, "Our hearts are within coverings from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a partition, so work; indeed, we are working. "
and so they say, "Our hearts are veiled from whatever thou callest us to, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and thee is a barrier. Do, then, behold, we shall do !"
And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting.
They say: "Our hearts are securely wrapped up against what you call us to,* and in our ears is a heaviness, and between you and us there is a veil.* So act; we too are acting."*
And they say: "Our hearts O Muhammad are shielded against what you induce us to accept as a matter of fact, and our ears are deaf and in fact you might say there is a screen interposed between us and you, and so, you just proceed as you have begun; we are doing what we will".
The disbelievers say: "Qur’an has no way open to reach our hearts. It has divided us; you go your way and we will follow ours."
And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us; and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen: so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)."
They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears in a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)"
They say, "Our hearts are veiled against what you are calling us to, there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you. So do ˹whatever you want˺ and so shall we!"
And they say, "Our hearts are (wrapped) in covers against that (faith) to which you invite us, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between you and us. So, do (in your way). We too are doing (in our own way)".
They say, ‘Our hearts are encased against you call us to; our ears are heavy; there is a barrier between us and you. So you do whatever you want, and so shall we.’
They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!'
and say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou dost call us to, and in our ears is dullness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act thou; verily, we are acting too!'
And they say, "Our heart are under veils from that to which you call us, and there is a deafness in our ears, and a screen hangs between us and you. So do you (as you will), we too are doing (what we will)."
And they have said, "Our hearts are under lids (literally: into lids) from what you call us to, and in our ears is an obstruction, and between us and you (The Prophet) is a curtain; so do (according to your belief); surely we are doing (according to ours). "
And they say, our hearts are veiled from the doctrine to which thou invitest us; and there is a deafness in our ears, and a curtain between us and thee: Wherefore act thou, as thou shalt think fit; for we shall act according to our own sentiments.
And they (those who do not hear) say: "Our hearts are (hidden) behind veils, from that to which you invite us; And in our ears is a deafness, and between us and you is a screen: So you do (whatever you wish); As for us, we shall do (whatever we wish!)"
And they say, `Our hearts are (fortified) within a covering against that (Book) towards which you call us. We are deaf in the ear and there exists a barrier between us and you. So carry on your work (according to your creed) and surely we are the workers (in accordance with our own doctrines).'
They say, ‘Our hearts are in veils from what you invite us to, and there is a deafness in our ears, and there is a curtain between us and you. So act ; we too are acting .’
