When those who ignore warning set in their hearts bigoted disdain: — the bigoted disdain of ignorance — then God sent down His tranquillity upon His messenger and upon the believers, and imposed upon them the word of prudent fear; and they have more right to it and are worthy of it; and God is knowing of all things.

Those who are kafir filled their hearts with fanatical rage – the fanatical rage of the Time of Ignorance and Allah sent down serenity to His Messenger and to the muminun, and bound them to the expression of taqwa which they had most right to and were most entitled to. Allah has knowledge of all things.
Those who rejected had put in their hearts the rage of the days of ignorance, then God sent down tranquility upon His messenger and the believers, and directed them to uphold the word of righteousness, and they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. And God is fully aware of all things.
Just when the unbelievers had their hearts filled with zeal, the *zeal of the Age of Ignorance, right then Allah sent down His blessing of inner contentment upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and empowered them to ward off this kind of zealotry. For, they truly deserved this virtue and it was befitting for them to own it. And Allah is Knower of all things. (*Zeal for revenge).

This is what they well deserved. GOD is fully aware of all things.
When the unbelievers fostered a sense of honour in their hearts, a sense of pagan honour, God sent down a sense of tranquility on His Apostle and the believers, and obliged them to an act of self-restraint, for they were deserving and worthy of it. God is cognisant of everything.
When those who disbelieved had put into their hearts chauvinism - the chauvinism of the time of ignorance. But Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers and imposed upon them the word of righteousness, and they were more deserving of it and worthy of it. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing.
Whereas they who are bent on denying the truth harboured a stubborn disdain in their hearts - the stubborn disdain of ignorance God bestowed from on high His inner peace upon His Apostle and the believers, and bound them to the spirit of God-consciousness: for they were most worthy of this , and deserved it well. And God has full knowledge of all things.
When those who disbelieve had set up in their hearts zealotry, the zealotry of the Age of Ignorance, then Allah sent down His peace of reassurance upon His messenger and upon the believers and imposed on them the word of self-restraint, for they were worthy of it and meet for it. And Allah is Aware of all things.
(This is why) when the unbelievers set in their hearts a fierce bigotry — the bigotry of ignorance* — Allah bestowed inner peace upon His Messenger and upon the believers* and made the word of piety binding on them. They were more deserving and worthier thereof. Allah has knowledge of everything.
While the infidels cherished the violent feeling and furious passion of paganism and national ignorance, Allah inspired peace and tranquility to His Messenger and to the faithful believers whose hearts He imprinted with the image of religious and spiritual virtues and whose works with wisdom and whose words with piety; virtues they merit and of right belong to them, Allah has always been Alimun (Omniscient) of all things in all respects.
While the disbelievers’ heart was filled with the arrogance of the days of ignorance, God showered His Prophet and the believers with peace and directed them toward righteousness as they deserved it. God is Fully Aware of everything.
When those who disbelieve had put in their hearts pride and haughtiness - the pride and haughtiness of the time of ignorance, - then Allâh sent down His Sakînah (calmness and tranquillity) upon His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and upon the believers, and made them stick to the word of piety (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh); and they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allâh is the All-Knower of everything.
While the Unbelievers got up in their hearts heat and cant - the heat and cant of ignorance,- Allah sent down His Tranquillity to his Messenger and to the Believers, and made them stick close to the command of self-restraint; and well were they entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.
˹Remember˺ when the disbelievers had filled their hearts with pride—the pride of ˹pre-Islamic˺ ignorance—then Allah sent down His serenity upon His Messenger and the believers, inspiring them to uphold the declaration of faith, for they were better entitled and more worthy of it. And Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.
When the disbelievers developed in their hearts indignation, the indignation of ignorance; then Allah sent down tranquility from Himself upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and made them stick to the word of piety, and they were very much entitled to it and competent for it. And Allah is All-Knowing about every thing.
While the disbelievers had fury in their hearts- the fury of ignorance- God sent His tranquillity down on to His Messenger and the believers and made binding on them promise to obey God, for that was more appropriate and fitting for them. God has full knowledge of all things.
When the unbelievers set in their hearts fierceness, the fierceness of pagandom, then God sent down His Shechina upon His Messenger and the believers, and fastened to them the word of godfearing to which they have better right and are worthy of; and God has' knowledge of everything.
When those who misbelieved put in their hearts pique - the pique of ignorance - and God sent down His shechina upon His Apostle and upon the believers, and obliged them to keep to the word of piety, and they were most worthy of it and most suited for it; for God all things doth know.
When those who disbelieved harboured in their heart feelings of agitation and disdain - the agitation and disdain of the Days of Ignorance - Allah sent down His tranquillity on His Messenger and on the believers, and made them adhere to the Word (or command) of self-restraint, and they were entitled to it and worthy of it; and Allah is Aware of all things.
As the ones who have disbelieved (got) in their hearts haughtiness, the haughtiness of (pagan) ingnorance, then Allah sent down His serenity upon His Messenger and upon the believers, and He imposed upon them the word of piety, and they were truly worthier of it and (qualified) population for it; and Allah has been Ever-Knowing of everything.
When the unbelievers had put in their hearts an affected preciseness, the preciseness of ignorance, and God sent down his tranquillity on his apostle and on the true believers; and firmly fixed in them the word of piety, and they were the most worthy of the same, and the most deserving thereof: For God knoweth all things.
When the unbelievers had heat (anger) and urge in their hearts— The heat and urge of ignorance, — Allah sent down His calm and tranquility to His Messenger and to the believers, and made them follow closely the command of self-restraint; And they were well entitled to it and worthy of it. And Allah is Ever All Knowing (Aleem) of all things.
(These events belong to the time) when those who disbelieved nurtured in their hearts prideful indignation and cant, the indignation and cant (of the days) of Ignorance, and Allâh granted Shechinah (peace and tranquillity) from Himself to His Messenger and the believers and made them observe closely and firmly the code of self-restraint, (the code) they were best entitled to receive and were also really worthy of it. Allâh has full knowledge of everything.
When the faithless nourished bigotry in their hearts, the bigotry of pagan ignorance, Allah sent down His composure upon His Apostle and upon the faithful, and made them abide by the word of Godwariness, for they were the worthiest of it and deserved it, and Allah has knowledge of all things.
