He said: “My Lord: how will I have a lad when my wife is barren and I have reached extreme old age?”
He said, ‘My Lord! How can I have a boy when my wife is barren and I have reached advanced old age?’
He said: "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is infertile, and I have reached a very old age"
Zachariah exclaimed, "My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I am already infirm with old age?"
He said: “My Lord: how will I have a lad when my wife is barren and I have reached extreme old age?”
He said: "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is infertile, and I have reached a very old age?"
He said, "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is infertile, and I have reached a very old age?"
He said, "My Lord, will I have a son despite my wife's sterility, and despite my old age?"
"How can I have a son, O Lord" he said, "when my wife is barren and I am old and decrepit?"
He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?"
exclaimed: "O my Sustainer! How can I have a son when my wife has always been barren and I have become utterly infirm through old age?"
He said: My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age?
He said: "My Lord! How can I have a boy when my wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age?"
He -Zakariya- exclaimed: "How shall I have a son when my wife has been, barren and I have been carried through the stealing steps of age to advanced life".
(Zechariah replied): "My Lord, how is it possible that an old man like me and a barren woman like my wife have a son?"
He said: "My Lord! How can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme old age."
He said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren and I have grown quite decrepit from old age?"
He wondered, "My Lord! How can I have a son when my wife is barren, and I have become extremely old?"
He Said, "My Lord, how shall there be a boy for me while my wife is barren, and I have reached the extreme of old age?"
He said, ‘Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is barren, and I am old and frail?’
He said, 'O my Lord, how shall I have a son, seeing my wife is barren, and I have attained to the declining of old age?'
Said he, 'My Lord! how can I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I have reached through old age to decrepitude?'
(The answer came), "O Zachariah! Verily, We give you glad tidings of a son, whose name shall be John. None by that name have We distinguished before."
He said, "Lord! However can I have a youth and my wife is barren, and I have already reached the decrepitude of old age?"
Zacharias said, Lord, how shall I have a son, seeing my wife is barren, and I am now arrived at a great age, and am decrepit?
He (Zakariyya) said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren and I have become quite weak from old age?"
He (- Zachariah) said, `My Lord! how shall I beget a son when my wife is barren and I have (already) reached the extreme (limit of) old age?'
He said, ‘My Lord! How shall I have a son, when my wife is barren, and I am already advanced in age?’
