And when affliction touches men, they call to their Lord, turning in repentance to Him; then when He lets them taste mercy from Him, then a faction among them ascribes a partnership to their Lord,

When harm touches people they call on their Lord, making tawba to Him. But then, when He gives them a taste of mercy from Him, a group of them immediately associate others with their Lord
And if harm afflicts the people, they call out sincerely to their Lord. But then, when He gives them a taste of His mercy, a group of them set up partners with their Lord!

And when people are touched or befallen with a misfortune or wedded to a calamity they invoke Allah, their Creator, turning to Him exclusively and when He extends to them His mercy and delivers them from what was burdensome and exhaustive to the mind, some of them incorporate with Him other deities
when people are in trouble, they turn whole man needs to worship God. If he denies the Lord, he will end up worshipping false gods (idols, women, money, superiors, movie stars, ball players, etc.) heartedly to the Lord. When God, out of His mercy removes the hardship, some of them return to their practice of worshipping beside God.
And when harm touches men, they cry sincerely only to their Lord (Allâh), turning to Him in repentance; but when He gives them a taste of His Mercy, behold, a party of them associates partners in worship with their Lord.
When trouble touches men, they cry to their Lord, turning back to Him in repentance: but when He gives them a taste of Mercy as from Himself, behold, some of them pay part-worship to other god's besides their Lord,-
When people are touched with hardship, they cry out to their Lord, turning to Him ˹alone˺. But as soon as He gives them a taste of His mercy, a group of them associates ˹others˺ with their Lord ˹in worship˺,
