And if you divorce them before you have touched them and you have already appointed for them an obligation, then half of what you appointed unless they forgo it, or he in whose hand is the knot of marriage forgoes it; and that you forgo is nearer to prudent fear. And forget not bounty between you, God sees what you do.

وَاِنْ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ وَقَدْ فَرَضْتُمْ لَهُنَّ فَر۪يضَةً فَنِصْفُ مَا فَرَضْتُمْ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَعْفُونَ اَوْ يَعْفُوَا الَّذ۪ي بِيَدِه۪ عُقْدَةُ النِّكَاحِۜ وَاَنْ تَعْفُٓوا اَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوٰىۜ وَلَا تَنْسَوُا الْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ

To forgo it is closer to taqwa. Do not forget to show generosity to one another. Allah sees what you do.
