We thus let people distinguish one another's egos. The elite among them say, "Are these the people among us whom Allah has favored?" But, is not Allah best Aware of the appreciative?
And thus We subjected some of them to means of denial by others: that they might say: “Are these they whom God has favoured among us?” Does then God not best know the grateful?

Does Allah not know best the thankful who are actuated with the feeling of gratitude!
This is how I (God) test people in their daily confrontations. Thus, the disbelievers say: "Are these people the preferred ones by God?" Do they not know that God knows who is the grateful and who the ungrateful?

Thus did We try some of them by comparison with others, that they should say: "Is it these then that Allah hath favoured from amongst us?" Doth not Allah know best those who are grateful?
In this way We have tested some by means of others, so those ˹disbelievers˺ may say, "Has Allah favoured these ˹poor believers˺ out of all of us?" Does Allah not best recognize the grateful?

Even so We have tried some of them by others that they may say, Are these the ones God has been gracious to among us?' Knows not God very well the thankful?
So have we tried some of them by others, that they may say, 'Are these those unto whom God has been gracious amongst ourselves?' Does not God know those who give thanks?
Thus did We try some of them by (or in comparison with) others, that they may say, "Are these those unto whom Allah has been gracious amongst us?" Does not Allah know those who give thanks?
And thus We have tempted some of them by (others) (Literally: by some "others") that they may say, "Are these (the ones) Allah has been bounteous to among us?" Is not Allah the Best Knower of the thankful?
And in the like manner have We tried some of them by others, that they may say, 'Is it these whom Allah has favoured from among us?' Does not Allah know best those who are grateful?
