And those who settled in the home and the faith before them, love those who have emigrated to them, and they find in their breasts no need for what they were given, but give preference above themselves though they be in privation. And whoso is protected from the avarice of his soul, it is they who are the successful.

Those who were already settled in the abode, and in iman, before they came, love those who have made hijra to them and do not find in their hearts any need for what they have been given and prefer them to themselves even if they themselves are needy. It is the people who are safe-guarded from the avarice of their own selves who are successful.
And those who provided them with shelter, and were believers before them; they love those who immigrated to them, and they find no hesitation in their hearts in helping them, and they readily give them priority over themselves, even when they themselves need what they give away. Indeed, those who overcome their desires are the successful ones.
Also those who resided in the city (Madinah) before them and attained faith. They love those who immigrated to them, and find no hesitation in their hearts in helping them. But rather give them preference over themselves, even though poverty be their own lot. And whoever is saved from greediness of the heart, such are the ones who truly prosper.

And those who were settled in al-Madinah and the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful.
And those who, before them, had their abode in this realm and in faith - who love all that come to them in search of refuge, and who harbour in their hearts no grudge for whatever the others may have been given, but rather give them preference over themselves, even though poverty be their own lot: for, such as from their own covetousness are saved - it is they, they that shall attain to a happy state!
Those who entered the city and the faith before them love those who flee unto them for refuge, and find in their breasts no need for that which hath been given them, but prefer (the fugitives) above themselves though poverty become their lot. And whoso is saved from his own avarice - such are they who are successful.
It also belongs to those who were already settled in this abode (of Hijrah) * having come to faith before the (arrival of the) Muhajirun (Emigrants).They love those who have migrated to them and do not covet what has been given them; they even prefer them above themselves though poverty be their own lot.* And whosoever are preserved from their own greed, such are the ones that will prosper.*
Next are those who emigrated and settled earlier, justifying Faith as a conviction operative on their character and will, who love to see and welcome their successors and afford them refuge with clean breasts not begrudging their aid, abnegating themselves of what they themselves may need in favour of the others. And he who opposes the incitement arising from the state of mind and feeling and guards himself against an unjust act, impiety, iniquity, greed, niggardliness, immorality and such vices, shall heaven prosper him and such persons;
As far as the citizens of Medina, who embraced Islam long ago, is concerned, they helped the immigrants and genuinely love them. They do not mind to see that the immigrants receive the spoils of war at their expense. The fact is those who get rid of their greed are the true successful ones.
And (it is also for) those who, before them, had homes (in Al-Madinah) and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that which they have been given (from the booty of Banû An-Nadîr), and give them (emigrants) preference over themselves even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful.
But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the ones that achieve prosperity.
As for those who had settled in the city and ˹embraced˺ the faith before ˹the arrival of˺ the emigrants, they love whoever immigrates to them, never having a desire in their hearts for whatever ˹of the gains˺ is given to the emigrants. They give ˹the emigrants˺ preference over themselves even though they may be in need. And whoever is saved from the selfishness of their own souls, it is they who are ˹truly˺ successful.
And (fai’ is also) for those who established themselves in the homeland (of Madīnah) and in faith before the former ones (arrived in Madīnah), who have love for those who emigrated to them, and do not feel in their hearts any ambition for what is given to the former ones (from fai’), and give preference (to them) over themselves, even though they are in poverty. -And those who are saved from the greed of their hearts are the successful.-
Those who were already firmly established in their homes , and firmly rooted in faith, show love for those who migrated to them for refuge and harbour no desire in their hearts for what has been given to them. They give them preference over themselves, even if they too are poor: those who are saved from their own souls’ greed are truly successful.
And those who made their dwelling in the abode, and in belief, before them; love whosoever has emigrated to them, not finding in their breasts any need for what they have been given, and preferring others above themselves, even though poverty be their portion. And whoso is guarded against the avarice of his own soul, those -- they are the prosperers.
And those who were settled in the abode and the faith before them, love those who fled to them; and they do not find in their breasts a need of what has been given to them; preferring them to themselves, even though there be poverty amongst them; and whoso is preserved from his own covetousness, these are the prosperous!
And those, who had homes in the city (Madina) and in the faith before them, love those who have fled to them, and do not find in their heart a need of what they are given, and give them (the fugitives) preference before themselves, though poverty may afflict them. Whoever is preserved from the avarice of his own soul, these it is that are the successful ones.
And (the ones) who took their location in the Residence Al-Madînah) and in belief before them, love whomever has migrated to them, (i. e., to the ÉAnsar, the Muslims of Al-Madînah) and do not find in their breasts any need for what has been brought them, (The Muhajirûn, those who emigrated from Makkah) and prefer (the Muhajir?n) above themselves, even though penury be (their portion). And whoever is protected from the avarice of his self, then those are they who are the prosperers.
And they who quietly possessed the town of Medina, and professed the faith without molestation, before them, love him who hath fled unto them, and find in their breasts no want of that which is given the Mohajerin, but prefer them before themselves, although there be indigence among them. And whoso is preserved from the covetousness of his own soul, those shall surely prosper.
And (it is also for) those who before them, had homes (in Medinah) and had adopted faith (in Islam)— Show their affection to those who came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire for things in their hearts, (and had) given to the (refugees), and give them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot), and those saved from the selfishness of their own souls— Such are they, the ones who are successful.
And (in this wealth there is also a share) for those (Ansâr, the Helpers) who had settled in the city (of Madînah) and had embraced the Faith before these (Refugees arrived there). They love those who migrated to them for refuge and (who) even though poverty be their own lot, found no desire in their hearts for that which is given to these (Refugees) but they gave them (Refugees) preference over themselves. And (bear in mind that) those saved from the covetousness of their souls are the ones to achieve the goal.
for those who were settled in the land and in faith before them, who love those who migrate toward them, and do not find in their breasts any need for that which is given to them, but prefer to themselves, though poverty be their own lot. And those who are saved from their own greed —it is they who are the felicitous.
