And would you, perhaps, if you turned away, work corruption in the land and sever your kinship?
Is it not likely that, if you did turn away, you would cause corruption in the earth and sever your ties of kinship?
So do you plan that when you turn away, that you will corrupt the land and sever your family ties
Would you then, rather turn back (to the old ways of Ignorance) and work corruption in the land, and break the common bond of humanity and your ties of mutual relationships?
And would you, perhaps, if you turned away, work corruption in the land and sever your kinship?

Is it also your intention that as soon as you leave you will commit evil and mistreat your relatives?
Is it possible that if placed in authority you will create disorder in the land and sever your bonds of relationship?
So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your relationship?
"Would you, perchance, after having turned away spread corruption on earth, and cut asunder your ties of kinship?"
Would ye then, if ye were given the command, work corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?
Now, if you were to turn away,* what else can be expected but that you will work corruption in the land and fly at each other's throats?*
And if you people fail to obey Allah's command, then do you have in mind, as a fixed purpose, to make mischief and create discord on earth and break the ties of a common blood and of uterine consanguinity ?
What else is next? Turning back to the days of ignorance, starting mischief on earth and mistreating your relatives?
Would you then, if you were given the authority, do mischief in the land, and sever your ties of kinship?
Then, is it to be expected of you, if ye were put in authority, that ye will do mischief in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin?
Now if you ˹hypocrites˺ turn away, perhaps you would then spread corruption throughout the land and sever your ˹ties of˺ kinship!
So, (O hypocrites,) do you not apprehend that, in case you turn away (from Jihād ), you will spread disorder in the land and will sever your ties of kinship?
‘If you turn away now, could it be that you will go on to spread corruption all over the land and break your ties of kinship?’
If you turned away, would you then haply work corruption in the land, and break your bonds of kin?
Would ye perhaps, if ye had turned back, have done evil in the land and severed the bonds of kinship?
But if you held command, would you make mischief in the land and cut off the ties of kinship?
Then, in case you turn away, might it be that you corrupt in the earth and sever your bonds of kin?
Were ye ready therefore, if ye had been put in authority, to commit outrages in the earth, and to violate your ties of blood?
Then, is it to be expected of you, if you were put in authority, that you will do mischief in the land, and break your ties with (people and) relatives?
(Hypocrites!) it is more likely that if you are given authority and power, you will create disorder in the land and violate your ties of kinship.
May it not be that if you were to wield authority you would cause corruption in the land and ill-treat your blood relations?
