Surah Yusuf (Joseph) — سورة يوسف - **Verse:** 66 / 111 · **Juz:** 13 · **Mushaf page:** 242 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-yusuf/verse-66 ## Arabic قَالَ لَنْ اُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتّٰى تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقاً مِنَ اللّٰهِ لَتَأْتُنَّن۪ي بِه۪ٓ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يُحَاطَ بِكُمْۚ فَلَمَّٓا اٰتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مَا نَقُولُ وَك۪يلٌ ## Transcription Qala lan orsilahu maAAakum hattatu/tooni mawthiqan mina Allahi lata/tunnanee bihi illaan yuhata bikum falamma atawhu mawthiqahum qalaAllahu AAala ma naqoolu wakeel ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley He said, ‘I will not send him out with you until you make a covenant with Allah to bring him home unless you are overwhelmed. ’ When they had made their covenant, he said, ‘Allah is Guardian over what we say.’ ### Progressive Muslims He said: "I will not send him with you until you come to me with a covenant to God that you will bring him back unless you are completely overtaken". So when they brought him the covenant, he said: "God is placed in trust over what we say." ### Shabbir Ahmed Jacob said, "I will not send him with you till you give me a solemn pledge in the name of Allah, that you will bring him back to me unless you get surrounded (by circumstances beyond control). And when they gave him their solemn pledge, he said, "Allah is the Warden over all we say." ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation He said: “I will not send him with you until you give me a solemn oath before God that you will bring him to me save that you be surrounded.” And when they had brought him their solemn oath, he said: “God is guardian over what we say.” ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation He said: "I will not send him with you until you come to me with a covenant to God that you will bring him back unless you are completely overtaken." " When they had given their promise, he said: "God is witness to our conversation." ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) [Jacob] said, "Never will I send him with you until you give me a promise by Allah that you will bring him [back] to me, unless you should be surrounded by enemies. " And when they had given their promise, he said, " Allah, over what we say, is Witness." ### Muhammad Asad Said [Jacob]: "I will not send him with you until you give me a solemn pledge, before God, that you will indeed bring him back unto me, unless you yourselves be encompassed [by death]!" And when they had given him their solemn pledge, [Jacob] said: "God is witness to all that we say!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall He said: I will not send him with you till ye give me an undertaking in the name of Allah that ye will bring him back to me, unless ye are surrounded. And when they gave him their undertaking he said: Allah is the Warden over what we say. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Their father said: "I shall never send him with you until you give me a solemn promise in the name of Allah that you will bring him back to me, unless you yourselves are surrounded." Then after they had given him their solemn promise, he said. "Allah watches over what we have said." ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab The father said: "I will not send him –Benjamin- with you until you have given me a binding oath with a solemn appeal to Allah in witness that you shall bring him back to me unless you are surrounded, ,. Having made an oath to him, he said to them: "There, shall Allah be our witness Who stands guard over what we discourse." ### Bijan Moeinian Jacob said: "I will not send him with you, unless you swear by God that you will do everything humanly possible to bring him back to me. " When they gave him their solemn pledge, he said: “Never forget that the Lord is a witness to your pledge.” ### Al-Hilali & Khan He [Ya‘qûb (Jacob)] said: "I will not send him with you until you swear a solemn oath to me in Allâh’s Name, that you will bring him back to me unless you are yourselves surrounded (by enemies)," And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Allâh is the Witness to what we have said." ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali (Jacob) said: "Never will I send him with you until ye swear a solemn oath to me, in Allah's name, that ye will be sure to bring him back to me unless ye are yourselves hemmed in (and made powerless). And when they had sworn their solemn oath, he said: "Over all that we say, be Allah the witness and guardian!" ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Jacob insisted, "I will not send him with you until you give me a solemn oath by Allah that you will certainly bring him back to me, unless you are totally overpowered." Then after they had given him their oaths, he concluded, “Allah is a Witness to what we have said.” ### Taqi Usmani He said, "I shall never send him with you until you give me a pledge in the name of Allah that you will definitely bring him back to me, unless you are overpowered (by circumstances)." So, when they gave him their pledge, he said, “Allah is watchful over what we say.” ### Abdul Haleem He said, ‘I will never send him with you, not unless you swear by God that you will bring him back to me if that is humanly possible.’ Then, when they had given him their pledge, he said, ‘Our words are entrusted to God.’ ### Arthur John Arberry He said, 'Never will I send him with you until you bring me a solemn pledge by God that you will surely bring him back to me unless it be that you are encompassed. ' When they had brought him their solemn pledge he said, 'God shall be Guardian over what we say.' ### E. Henry Palmer He said, 'I will by no means send him with you until you give me a compact from God that ye will surely bring him to me, unless ye be encompassed. ' So when they had given him their compact he said, 'God over what ye say has charge.' ### Hamid S. Aziz And when they opened their packs they found their merchandise restored to them. Said they, "O our father! What more can we crave? Here are our goods restored to us. We shall get provisions for our folk, and we shall guard our brother, and shall have an additional camel load of provisions. This is but a small measure (compared to what we can obtain or to the Egyptian Store-house)." ### Mahmoud Ghali He said, "I will never send him with you until you bring me a binding compact by Allah that indeed you will definitely bring him (back) to me, excepting (if) you are encompassed. " So, as soon as they had brought him their binding compact, he said, " Allah is The Ever-Trusted Trustee over what we say." ### George Sale Jacob said, I will by no means send him with you, until ye give me a solemn promise, and swear by God that ye will certainly bring him back unto me, unless ye be encompassed by some inevitable impediment. And when they had given him their solemn promise, he said, God is witness of what we say. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed (Yàqoub, (Jacob), their father) said: "I will never send him with you until you swear a sincere promise to me, in the Name of Allah, that you will be sure to bring him back to me unless you are yourselves surrounded (and powerless). " And when they had sworn their truest promise, he said: "To all that we say, let Allah be the Witness and Guardian!" ### Amatul Rahman Omar He said, `Never will I send him with you until you give me a solemn pledge in the name of Allâh that you shall surely bring him to me unless it be that you yourselves are beset with difficult circumstances. ' When they had given him their solemn pledge he said, `Allâh shall be Guardian over what we have agreed.' ### Ali Quli Qarai He said, ‘I will not let him go with you until you give me a [solemn] pledge by Allah that you will surely bring him back to me, unless you are made to perish. ’ When they had given him their [solemn] pledge, he said, ‘Allah is witness over what we say.’ ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü (Babaları) dedi ki: "Çepeçevre kuşatılıp öldürülme durumuna düşmedikçe, onu bana kesin olarak geri getireceğinize Allah adına yemin etmezseniz, onu sizinle göndermem". . . Ne zaman ki sağlam sözlerini verdiler, (babaları) dedi ki: "Allah, söylediklerimize Vekiyl'dir. " ### Ali Bulaç — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Türkçe Anlamı "Bana etrafınızın çepeçevre kuşatılması dışında, onu ne olursa olsun mutlaka bana getireceğinize dair Allah adına kesin bir söz verinceye kadar, onu sizinle asla gönderemem." dedi. Böylelikle ona kesin bir söz verince dedi ki: "Allah, söylediklerimize vekildir." ### Bayraktar Bayraklı — Yeni Bir Anlayışın Işığında Kur'an Meali Ya'kub dedi ki: "Hepinizin çepeçevre kuşatılması müstesna, onu bana mutlaka getireceğinize dair Allah'tan bir garanti vermedikçe, onu sizinle asla göndermem." Kardeşler ona garanti verince şöyle dedi: "Şu söylediğimize Allah vekildir." ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Babaları, "Kuşatılıp çaresiz durumda kalmanız hariç, onu bana geri getireceğinize dair Allah adına sağlam bir söz vermedikçe, onu sizinle göndermeyeceğim" dedi. Söz verdikleri vakit dedi ki: "Allah söylediklerimize karşı vekildir!" ### Gültekin Onan "Bana etrafınızın çepeçevre kuşatılması dışında, onu ne olursa olsun mutlaka bana getireceğinize dair Tanrı adına kesin bir söz verinceye kadar, onu sizinle asla gönderemem" dedi. Böylelikle ona kesin bir söz verince dedi ki: "Tanrı, söylediklerimize vekildir." ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim (Ya'kub): "Etraafınız kuşatılıb (çaresiz kalmanız müstesna) onu bana behemehal getireceğinize dair Allahdan bana sağlam bir teahhüd verilinceye kadar onu sizinle beraber, (kaabil değil) göndermem" dedi. Artık ona (babalarına) te'minatlarını verince o da: "Allah benim ve sizin bu dediklerimize vekil (şahid olsun)" dedi. ### İbni Kesir Dedi ki: Etrafınız kuşatılmadıkça muhakkak bana getireceğinize dair Allah'a karşı sağlam bir söz vermezseniz, onu sizinle asla göndermem. Artık onlar söz verince: Allah söylediklerinize Vekil'dir, dedi. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı (Yakub,) "Hepiniz (ölümle) kuşatılıp kıstırılmadıkça" dedi, "onu bana geri getireceğinize dair bana Allah huzurunda yeminle söz verinceye kadar onu sizinle göndermeyeceğim!" Ve yeminle söz verdiklerinde de, "(Bu) konuştuklarımıza Allah şahittir!" dedi. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Babaları: -Hepiniz kuşatılmadıkça onu bana geri getireceğinize dair Allah'a karşı sağlam bir söz vermezseniz, onu sizinle göndermeyeceğim, dedi. Söz verdiklerinde: -Sözümüze Allah vekildir, dedi. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali (Ya'kub): "Hepiniz kuşatılıp engellenmedikçe siz, onu bana getireceğinize dair Allah adına bana sağlam söz vermeden onu asla sizinle göndermem!" dedi. Ne zaman ki, sözlerini verdiler, (Ya'kub): "Söylediğimize Allah, vekildir!" dedi. ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Yakub dedi: "Hepinizin çepeçevre kuşatılması müstesna, onu bana mutlaka getireceğinize dair Allah'tan bir garanti vermedikçe, onu sizinle asla göndermem." Bunun üzerine, Ona söz verdiler. Dedi ki: "Allah, söylediklerimizi Destekleyendir!" ### Süleymaniye Vakfı (Eski Baskı) — Süleymaniye Vakfı Meali Yakup dedi ki "Ben onu sizinle göndermem; hepinizi kuşatan bir felaket olmadıkça onu bana getireceğinize dair Allah adına sağlam söz verirseniz başka." Ona o sağlam sözü verdikleri zaman dedi ki "Konuştuklarımıza vekil olan Allah'tır." ### Mehmet Okuyan — Kur’an Meal-Tefsir (Yakup, oğullarına): "Kuşatılmanız hariç, onu bana mutlaka getireceğinize dair Allah adına bana sağlam bir söz verinceye kadar onu sizinle birlikte asla göndermem!" demişti.
