Surah Yusuf (Joseph) — سورة يوسف - **Verse:** 3 / 111 · **Juz:** 12 · **Mushaf page:** 234 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-yusuf/verse-3 ## Arabic نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ اَحْسَنَ الْقَصَصِ بِمَٓا اَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلَيْكَ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنَۗ وَاِنْ كُنْتَ مِنْ قَبْلِه۪ لَمِنَ الْغَافِل۪ينَ ## Transcription Nahnu naqussu AAalayka ahsanaalqasasi bima awhayna ilayka hathaalqur-ana wa-in kunta min qablihi lamina alghafileen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We tell you the best of stories in revealing this Qur’an to you, even though you were unaware of it before it came. ### Progressive Muslims We relate to you the best stories through what We have inspired to you in this Quran; and before it you were of those who were unaware. ### Shabbir Ahmed We reveal this Qur'an to you (O Prophet), and explain it in the best possible way, seeing that before this you were indeed unaware of what Revelation is. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation We relate to thee the best of stories in what We have revealed to thee of this Qur’an, though thou wast before it among those unaware. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation We tell to you the best stories through what We have inspired to you in this Qur'an; and before it you were of those who were unaware. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament We narrate to you the most accurate history through the revelation of this Quran. Before this, you were totally unaware. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Through the revelation of this Qur'an We narrate the best of histories of which you were unaware before. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) We relate to you, [O Muúammad], the best of stories in what We have revealed to you of this Qur'an although you were, before it, among the unaware. ### Muhammad Asad In the measure that We reveal this Qur'an unto thee, [O Prophet,] We explain it to thee in the best possible way, seeing that ere this thou wert indeed among those who are unaware [of what revelation is]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary (O Muhammad), by revealing the Qur'an to you We narrate to you in the best manner the stories of the past although before this narration you were utterly unaware of them[1]. _Footnotes_ - [1] This was to impress indirectly on the unbelievers of Makkah the fact that the Messenger (peace be upon him) did not know anything about the story of the settlement of the Israelites in Egypt, but was being informed of this by revelation from Allah. This introduction was necessary because, as has been stated in the preface to this Surah, the disbelievers had put an abrupt question concerning this matter in order to expose the Prophet (peace be upon him) by this test. The answer is to this effect: Tell them, O Muhammad (peace be upon him), that, though you did not know anything about the settlement of the Israelites in Egypt before this, you have now received a revelation about this from Us. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Bearing upon your present circumstances, We relate to you O Muhammad a most engaging story thought and felt in superlatives. It constitutes an integral part of the Quran We reveal to you, notwithstanding that before it you were unmindful of divine knowledge, true events and illumination and enlightenment. ### Bijan Moeinian God, hereby, is going to reveal to you the best story ever told; and you knew nothing about it before its revelation. ### Al-Hilali & Khan We relate unto you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) the best of stories through Our Revelations unto you, of this Qur’ân. And before this (i.e. before the coming of Divine Revelation to you), you were among those who knew nothing about it (the Qur’ân). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali We do relate unto thee the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to thee this (portion of the) Qur'an: before this, thou too was among those who knew it not. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran We relate to you ˹O Prophet˺ the best of stories through Our revelation of this Quran, though before this you were totally unaware ˹of them˺. ### Taqi Usmani By revealing this Qur’an to you, we hereby narrate to you the best narrative, while before this you were among those unaware (of it). ### Abdul Haleem We tell you [Prophet] the best of stories in revealing this Quran to you.
