Surah Yunus (Jonas) — سورة يونس - **Verse:** 93 / 109 · **Juz:** 11 · **Mushaf page:** 218 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-yunus/verse-93 ## Arabic وَلَقَدْ بَوَّأْنَا بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ مُبَوَّاَ صِدْقٍ وَرَزَقْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِۚ فَمَا اخْتَلَفُوا حَتّٰى جَٓاءَهُمُ الْعِلْمُۜ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْض۪ي بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ف۪يمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ ## Transcription Walaqad bawwa/na banee isra-eelamubawwaa sidqin warazaqnahum mina attayyibatifama ikhtalafoo hatta jaahumualAAilmu inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum yawma alqiyamatifeema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We settled the tribe of Israel in a noble place and gave them good things as provision. They did not differ until knowledge came to them. Your Lord will decide between them on the Day of Rising regarding the things about which they differed. ### Progressive Muslims And We helped the Children of Israel reach a place of sanctity, and We provided them from the good things, and they did not differ until the knowledge came to them. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection for what they differed in. ### Shabbir Ahmed Thereafter indeed, We assigned to the Children of Israel an honorable dwelling place, and gave them decent provision. But they began to hold divergent views and divided among themselves despite the knowledge (of Revelation). Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding wherein they differed. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We settled the children of Israel in a goodly settlement, and provided them with good things; and they differed not until knowledge came to them. Thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differed. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And We helped the Children of Israel reach a place of sanctity, and We provided them from the good things, and they did not differ until the knowledge came to them. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection for what they differed in. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament We have endowed the Children of Israel with a position of honor, and blessed them with good provisions. Yet, they disputed when this knowledge came to them. Your Lord will judge them on the Day of Resurrection regarding everything they disputed. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira We gave the people of Israel a settled abode, and bestowed good things on them to eat and use. So they did not differ until they came to have knowledge. Your Lord will assuredly settle their differences on the Day of Resurrection. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And We had certainty settled the Children of Israel in an agreeable settlement and provided them with good things. And they did not differ until [after] knowledge had come to them. Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ ### Muhammad Asad And [thereafter], indeed, We assigned unto the children of Israel a most goodly abode, and provided for them sustenance out of the good things of life. And it was not until knowledge [of God's revelation] was vouchsafed to them that they began to hold divergent views: [but,] verily, thy Sustainer will judge between them on Resurrection Day regarding all on which they were wont to differ. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And We verily did allot unto the Children of Israel a fixed abode, and did provide them with good things; and they differed not until the knowledge came unto them. Lo! thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they used to differ. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary We settled the Children of Israel in a blessed land,[1] and provided them with all manner of good things. They only disagreed among themselves after knowledge (of the truth had) come to them.[2] Surely your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning their disagreements. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, in Palestine after their exodus from Egypt. - [2] This refers to the dissensions the Israelites had caused in the divine way and the new religions they had invented. This verse accuses them of falling into variances, even though they possessed the divine knowledge, which had provided them with the criterion of judging between the right way and the wrong ways. They did this because of mischief of their hearts in spite of the fact that the right way had been made clear to them, and its fundamental principles had been imparted to them and instructions had been given about its implications and demands and its boundaries had been distinctly demarcated from those of the ways of unbelief. Besides, they had been admonished to follow the path of obedience and guard against the paths of disobedience, and establish their lives entirely in accordance with the rules and regulations based on that knowledge, for they shall have to render an account of all they did in this life. But in spite of all the instructions that were given to them, they divided one original religion into many divergent sects and built different ways on foundations other than those laid down by Allah. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab We confirmed Bani Isra‘il and provided them with good and satisfying dwellings and provisioned them with the good and wholesome victuals. Yet they only set themselves at variance after they had received divine knowledge illumination and enlightenment. But Allah shall judge between them in Day of Judgement on the strained points upon which the whole unreasoning turns. ### Bijan Moeinian Then I let the children of Israel settle in a wonderful land and provided the life’s purest necessities for them. Unfortunately, they started to dispute among themselves, in spite of the knowledge that I had showered them with. For sure, your Lord will pass His Judgment upon them on the Day of Resurrection and will bring to their attention the real reasons for which they were disputing. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And indeed We settled the Children of Israel in an honourable dwelling place (Shâm and Misr), and provided them with good things, and they differed not until the knowledge came to them. Verily, Allâh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection in that in which they used to differ. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali We settled the Children of Israel in a beautiful dwelling-place, and provided for them sustenance of the best: it was after knowledge had been granted to them, that they fell into schisms. Verily Allah will judge between them as to the schisms amongst them, on the Day of Judgment. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Indeed, We settled the Children of Israel in a blessed land,[1] and granted them good, lawful provisions. They did not differ until knowledge came to them.[2] Surely your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment regarding their differences. ### Taqi Usmani And surely We gave the children of Isrā’īl a proper place to live, and provided them with good things. Then they did not disagree between themselves but after knowledge had come to them. Surely, Allah will decide between them on the Day of Judgment about the matters in which they used to dispute each other. ### Abdul Haleem We settled the Children of Israel in a good place and provided good things as sustenance for them. It was only after knowledge had come to them that they began to differ among themselves. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their differences. ### Arthur John Arberry And We settled the Children of Israel in a sure settlement, and We provided them with good things; so they differed not until the knowledge came to them. Surely thy Lord will decide between them on the Day of Resurrection touching their differences. ### E. Henry Palmer And we established the people of Israel with a sure establishment, and we provided them with good things; nor did they disagree until there came to them the knowledge. Verily, thy Lord shall decide between them on the resurrection day concerning that whereon they did dispute. ### Hamid S. Aziz "But this day shall We save you in your body, that you may be a Sign to those who come after you; but verily, many of mankind are heedless of Our Signs!" ### Mahmoud Ghali And indeed We readily located the Seeds (Or: sons) of Israel) in an agreeable (Literally: a location of sincerity) location, and We provided them with (many) of the good things. Then in no way did they differ (among them-selves) until the knowledge came to them. Surely your Lord will decree between them on the Day of the Resurrection concerning (the things) wherein they used to differ. ### George Sale And We prepared for the children of Israel an established dwelling in the land of Canaan, and We provided good things for their sustenance: And they differed not in point of religion, until knowledge had come unto them; verily thy Lord will judge between them on the day of resurrection, concerning that wherein they disagreed. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed We made home for the Children of Israel in a beautiful place to live, and gave to them sustenance of the best (kind): It was after wisdom had been given to them, that they divided into (various) groups. Surely, Allah will judge among them about their groups, on the Day of Judgment. ### Amatul Rahman Omar And We assigned to the Children of Israel an excellent place to settle (in Palestine), and We provided them with good and pure things; and they differed not (among themselves) until there had come to them true knowledge. Surely, your Lord will, on the Day of Resurrection, settle the issue between them concerning which they differ (now). ### Ali Quli Qarai Certainly We settled the Children of Israel in a worthy settlement and We provided them with all the good things, and they did not differ until [after] the knowledge had come to them.
