Surah Yunus (Jonas) — سورة يونس - **Verse:** 73 / 109 · **Juz:** 11 · **Mushaf page:** 216 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-yunus/verse-73 ## Arabic فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ خَلَٓائِفَ وَاَغْرَقْنَا الَّذ۪ينَ كَذَّبُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَاۚ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَر۪ينَ ## Transcription Fakaththaboohu fanajjaynahuwaman maAAahu fee alfulki wajaAAalnahum khala-ifawaaghraqna allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafanthur kayfa kana AAaqibatualmunthareen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley But they denied him so We rescued him, and all those with him, in the Ark and We made them the successors and We drowned the people who denied Our Signs. See the final fate of those who were warned! ### Progressive Muslims They denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ship, and We made them to succeed each other, and We drowned those who denied Our revelations. So see how was the punishment of those who were warned! ### Shabbir Ahmed But, they persisted in their denial, and We saved Noah and his companions who boarded the ship, and made them successors in the land. (The deniers thought of the flood warning as a laughing matter. The Tigris and the Euphrates rivers flooded with torrential rains) and We drowned those who had rejected Our Messages. So see how was the punishment of those who were warned! ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament They rejected him and, consequently, we saved him and those who joined him in the ark; we made them the inheritors. And we drowned those who rejected our revelations. Note the consequences; they have been warned. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Even then they denied him; so We saved him and those with him, in the ark, and established them in the land, and drowned those who denied Our signs. So think of the fate of those who were warned (and took no heed). ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship and made them successors, and We drowned those who denied Our signs. Then see how was the end of those who were warned. ### Muhammad Asad And yet they gave him the lie! And so We saved him and all who stood by him, in the ark, and made them inherit [the earth], the while We caused those who gave the lie to Our messages to drown: behold, then, what happened in the end to those people who had been warned [in vain]! ### Marmaduke Pickthall But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship, and made them viceroys (in the earth), while We drowned those who denied Our revelations. See then the nature of the consequence for those who had been warned. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary But they rejected Noah, calling him a liar. So We saved him and those who were with him in the Ark, and made them successors (to the authority in the land), and drowned all those who had rejected Our signs as false. Consider, then, the fate of those who had been warned (and still did not believe). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Yet they charged him with falsehood, and by consequence We rescued him by putting him together with those who fell in line with him on board ship -The Ark- and made them the successors. We drowned those who denied Our divine Message and signs. Now look to see what was the fate of those who were warned of impending danger and misfortune and they refused to pay heed. ### Bijan Moeinian Thus, they chose to disbelieve. I saved Noah and those who joined him in the arc and let them to inherit the earth. I drowned those who disregarded My Commandments. Note the consequences; they had already been warned. ### Al-Hilali & Khan They denied him, but We delivered him, and those with him in the ship, and We made them generations replacing one after another, while We drowned those who belied Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). Then see what was the end of those who were warned. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali They rejected Him, but We delivered him, and those with him, in the Ark, and We made them inherit (the earth), while We overwhelmed in the flood those who rejected Our Signs. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not)! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran But they still rejected him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ark and made them successors, and drowned those who rejected Our signs. See then what was the end of those who had been warned! ### Taqi Usmani Then they rejected him, and We saved him and those with him in the Ark and made them the successors, and drowned those who gave the lie to Our signs. So look how was the fate of those who were warned. ### Abdul Haleem But they rejected him. Behold therefore, what was the end of those who were warned by Noah. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed They rejected him, but We saved him, and those with him in the Ark, and We made them take over (the earth), generation replacing one after another while We overpowered in the Flood those who rejected Our Signs (verses). Then, see what was the end of those who were warned. (But did not pay attention)! ### Amatul Rahman Omar But still they cried lies to him. So We saved him (-Noah) and all those who were with him in the Ark and We made them rulers while We drowned those who had cried lies to Our Messages.
