Surah Yunus (Jonas) — سورة يونس - **Verse:** 27 / 109 · **Juz:** 11 · **Mushaf page:** 211 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-yunus/verse-27 ## Arabic وَالَّذ۪ينَ كَسَبُوا السَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَٓاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ بِمِثْلِهَاۙ وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۜ مَا لَهُمْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍۚ كَاَنَّـمَٓا اُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعاً مِنَ الَّيْلِ مُظْلِماًۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ اَصْحَابُ النَّارِۚ هُمْ ف۪يهَا خَالِدُونَ ## Transcription Wallatheena kasaboo assayyi-atijazao sayyi-atin bimithliha watarhaquhum thillatunma lahum mina Allahi min AAasimin kaannamaoghshiyat wujoohuhum qitaAAan mina allayli muthlimanola-ika as-habu annari humfeeha khalidoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley But as for those who have earned bad actions – a bad action will be repaid with one the like of it. Debasement will darken them. They will have no one to protect them from Allah. It is as if their faces were covered by dark patches of the night. Those are the Companions of the Fire, remaining in it timelessly, for ever. ### Progressive Muslims As for those who earn evil, the recompense of evil will be evil like it, and they will be humiliated. They do not have any besides God as a helper. It is as if their faces have been covered by a piece of darkness from the night. These are the people of the Fire, in it they will abide. ### Shabbir Ahmed And those who are unjust to others in their daily lives, will fail to balance their own personalities. They will spend their lives in sadness and humiliation, a linear result of their own actions. There will be no one to protect them from Allah's Law. They will wander as if the darkness of night had covered their faces. They are the ones who have built their Hell and they will inherit it in the Eternity. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And for those who earn evil deeds is a reward for evil by the like thereof; and disgrace will cover them — they will not have against God any defender — as if their faces were covered with pieces of darkening night. They are the people of Hell, where they will abide for ever, ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) But they who have earned [blame for] evil doings - the recompense of an evil deed is its equivalent, and humiliation will cover them. They will have from Allah no protector. It will be as if their faces are covered with pieces of the night - so dark [are they]. Those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. ### Muhammad Asad But us for those who have done evil deeds - the recompense of an evil, deed shall be the like thereof: and - since they will have none to defend them against God - ignominy will overshadow them as though their faces were veiled by the night's own darkness: it is they who are destined for the fire. therein to abide. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And those who earn ill-deeds, (for them) requital of each ill-deed by the like thereof; and ignominy overtaketh them - They have no protector from Allah - as if their faces had been covered with a cloak of darkest night. Such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Those who do evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed is its like,[1] and humiliation shall spread over them and there will be none to protect them from Allah. Darkness will cover their faces as though they were veiled with the dark blackness of night.[2] These are the people of the Fire and in it they shall abide. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, in contrast to the additional rewards to the good people, those who earned evil deeds, shall be punished only in proportion to their crimes. See (E.N. 110 of An- Namal). - [2] It shall be that kind of gloom that overspreads the faces of the criminals when they are caught, and they despair all hopes of escape. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab But those who have committed themselves to an evil line of conduct, the retribution for evil doing is evil of a like nature, in addition to the gloom and the mortification which shall overlay their faces. No one shall they find then to afford them protection against Allah's retributive punishment; their faces shall be coated with gloom; a painful distressing darkness they will have to assume, as if they were wearing a mask made by a mould of a pitch-dark night These are the Inmates of Hell wherein they will have passed through nature to eternal suffering. ### Bijan Moeinian As for those who earned sins, their punishment will be proportional to their wrongdoings (and not many folded like the reward of the righteous people. ) They will realize that there is none to save them from the punishment of the Lord. Disgrace will cover them and their face will turn black; as black as the darkness of the night. They were wrong to their souls and have to pay for it by staying in the Hell forever. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And those who have earned evil deeds, the recompense of an evil deed is the like thereof, and humiliating disgrace will cover them (their faces). No defender will they have from Allâh. Their faces will be covered as it were with pieces from the darkness of night. They are the dwellers of the Fire, they will abide therein forever. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali But those who have earned evil will have a reward of like evil: ignominy will cover their (faces): No defender will they have from (the wrath of) Allah: Their faces will be covered, as it were, with pieces from the depth of the darkness of night: they are companions of the Fire: they will abide therein (for aye)! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran As for those who commit evil, the reward of an evil deed is its equivalent. Humiliation will cover them—with no one to protect them from Allah—as if their faces were covered with patches of the night’s deep darkness. It is they who will be the residents of the Fire. They will be there forever. ### Taqi Usmani As for those who commit evils, the recompense of each evil shall be similar to that evil, and disgrace shall cover them. For them, there is none to save from Allah. Their faces will seem to be covered with layers of a dark night. Those are the people of the Fire. Therein they shall live forever. ### Abdul Haleem As for those who did evil, each evil deed will be requited by its equal and humiliation will cover them- no one will protect them against God- as though their faces were covered with veils cut from the darkness of the night. These are the inmates of the Fire, and there they shall remain. ### Arthur John Arberry And for those who have earned evil deeds the recompense of an evil deed shall be the like of it; abasement shall overspread them, neither have they any defender from God, as if their faces were covered with strips of night shadowy. Those are the inhabitants of the Fire, therein dwelling forever. ### E. Henry Palmer But, as for those who have earned ill, the reward of evil is the like thereof; abasement shall cover them! they shall have none to defend them against God;- as though their faces were veiled with the deep darkness of the night; these are the fellows of the Fire, and they shall dwell therein for aye. ### Hamid S. Aziz To those who do what is good, (is granted) goodness and increase! Neither does darkness nor abasement cover their faces! Such are Companions of the Garden (Paradise); they will dwell therein. ### Mahmoud Ghali And for the ones who have earned odious deeds, the recompense of a bad deed will be the like of it, and humiliation shall oppress them. In no way will they have a safeguard from Allah, as if their faces are enveloped with strips of darkest night. Those are the companions (i.e., inhabitants) of the Fire; they are therein eternally (abiding). ### George Sale But they who commit evil shall receive the reward of evil, equal thereunto, and they shall be covered with shame, -- for they shall have no protector against God; -- as though their faces were covered with the profound darkness of the night. These shall be the inhabitants of hell fire; they shall remain therein for ever. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed But those who have earned evil deeds will have a repayment of like evil: And (humiliating) shame and dishonor will cover their (faces): None will they have to save from (the anger of) Allah: Their faces will be covered, so to say, with pieces of the deep darkness of Night: They are the companions of the Fire: In there they will live forever! ### Amatul Rahman Omar And (as for) those who knowingly committed evil deeds, they shall be punished in measure with the evil done and ignominy shall cover them. They shall have none to protect them against (the punishment of) Allâh. And (they shall look) as if their faces have been covered with patches of night with no light. It is these who are the fellows of the Fire, they shall abide in it for long. ### Ali Quli Qarai For those who have committed misdeeds, the requital of a misdeed shall be its like, and they shall be overcast by abasement. They shall have no one to protect [them] from Allah. [They will be] as if their faces were covered with dark patches of the night. They shall be the inmates of the Fire, and they shall remain in it [forever]. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü (Yaptıklarıyla) kötülükler kazanmış olanlara gelince; kötülüğün cezası (= karşılığı = sonucu) onun benzeri olacaktır! Onları zillet bürür. . . Onları, Allah'ın, yaptıklarının sonucunu yaşatmasından koruyacak (hiçbir kuvveleri) yoktur. . . Vechleri (şuurları) gecenin zifiri karanlığına bürünmüş gibidir. . . Onlar orada ebedi kalacaklardır. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Seyyiat kazananlara gelince kötülüğün cezası misliledir, ve onları bir zillet kaplar, Allahdan kendilerini kurtaracak yoktur, sanki yüzleri gece parçalarından kaplanmış kapkaranlık, onlar, eshabı nar, hep orada muhalleddirler ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Kötülükler kazanmış olanlara gelince, kötülüğün cezası misliyledir ve onları aşağılık kaplar; Allah'tan kendilerini kurtaracak yoktur; sanki yüzleri gece parçalarından kaplanmış kapkaranlık! Onlar cehennem ehli olup hep orada ebedi kalacaklardır. ### Gültekin Onan Kötülükler kazanmış olanlar ise; her bir kötülüğün karşılığı, kendi misliyledir. Bunları bir zillet sarıp kaplar. Onları Tanrı'dan (kurtaracak) hiç bir koruyucu yok. Onların yüzleri, sanki bir karanlık gecenin parçalarına bürünmüş gibidir. İşte bunlar ateşin halkıdırlar; orada süresiz kalacaklardır. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Kötülükler kazanmış olanlar (a gelince: Onların) bir kötülüğünü) n cezası bir misliyledir. Kendilerini bir horlukdur kaplayacak. Onları Allahdan hiç bir kurtarıcı da yokdur. Sanki yüzleri karanlık geceden bir parçaya bürünmüşdür onların. İşte bunlar da ateşin yaranıdırlar ki kendileri onun için ebedi kalıcıdırlar. ### İbni Kesir Kötülükleri kazananlara; kötülükleri kadar ceza verilir. Onların yüzlerini zillet bürür. Allah'a karşı onları savunacak kimse yoktur. Yüzleri, geceden de kara bir parçayla örtülmüş gibidir. İşte bunlar da ateşin yaranıdırlar. Orada temelli kalacaklardır. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ama kötü işler yapmış olanlara gelince; kötülüğün karşılığı kendisi kadar olacaktır; ve Allah'a karşı kendilerini savunacak kimseleri olmayacağına göre (utanç) ve aşağılanma onları, sanki yüzlerini kopkoyu bir gecenin karanlığı bürümüş gibi, gölgeleyecek: İşte bunlardır cehennemlikler; orada yerleşip kalacak olanlar... ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Kötülük işleyenlere, kötülükleri kadar ceza vardır.
