Surah Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin) — سورة يس - **Verse:** 75 / 83 · **Juz:** 23 · **Mushaf page:** 444 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ya-sin/verse-75 ## Arabic لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْۙ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُحْضَرُونَ ## Transcription La yastateeAAoona nasrahumwahum lahum jundun muhdaroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They cannot help them even though they are an army mobilised in their support. ### Progressive Muslims They cannot help them. And they become to them as foot-soldiers. ### Shabbir Ahmed It is beyond their power to help them, and in effect such people end up guarding their false gods like committed hosts. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation They cannot help them, and they are for them a force summoned. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation They cannot help them; while they are soldiers for them. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament On the contrary, they cannot help them; they end up serving them as devoted soldiers. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira They will not be able to help them and will be brought (to Us) as their levied troops. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance. ### Muhammad Asad they are unable to succour their devotees, even though to them they may [appear to] be hosts drawn up [for succour]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall It is not in their power to help them; but they (the worshippers) are unto them a host in arms. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Those deities can render them no help. Yet these devotees act as though they were an army in waiting for them.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, the poor false gods themselves are dependent upon their worshipers for their survival and their safety and their needs. But for their multitudes they could not survive as gods even for a day. These people are behaving as their humble servants. They are setting up and decorating their shrines; they carry out propaganda for them; they fight and quarrel with others for their sake. Then only are they recognized as gods. They are not the real God, Who, whether someone recognizes Him or not, is ruling over the whole universe by His own might and authority. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab When in fact the false gods have no power to be of avail to them ever, not to mention their total inability to afford them help. On the contrary it is the infidels who afford them protection and round about them they are garrisoned like a camp of faithful soldiery. ### Bijan Moeinian Whatever they worship [idols, money, boss, spouse, etc. ] can not help them; yet they stand as an ever ready army at their service! ### Al-Hilali & Khan They cannot help them, but they will be brought forward as a troop against those who worshipped them (at the time of Reckoning). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali They have not the power to help them: but they will be brought up (before Our Judgment-seat) as a troop (to be condemned). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran They cannot help the pagans, even though they serve the idols as dedicated guards.[1] ### Taqi Usmani They cannot help them, rather they (the disbelievers themselves) are (like) an army brought forth for (protecting) them (the so-called co-gods) ### Abdul Haleem though these could not do so even if they called a whole army of them together! ### Arthur John Arberry They cannot help them, though they be hosts made ready for them. ### E.
