Surah Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin) — سورة يس - **Verse:** 12 / 83 · **Juz:** 22 · **Mushaf page:** 439 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ya-sin/verse-12 ## Arabic اِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْـيِ الْمَوْتٰى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَاٰثَارَهُمْۜ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ اَحْصَيْنَاهُ ف۪ٓي اِمَامٍ مُب۪ينٍ۟ ## Transcription Inna nahnu nuhyeealmawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahumwakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We bring the dead to life and We record what they send ahead and what they leave behind. We have listed everything in a clear register. ### Progressive Muslims It is indeed Us who resurrect the dead, and We record what they have done and left behind. And everything We have counted in a clear ledger. ### Shabbir Ahmed Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record all they send before them and their footprints. And all things and events are recorded in a Clear Record. We keep an account of all things in a lucid register. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register. ### Muhammad Asad Verily, We shall indeed bring the dead back to life; and We shall record whatever [deeds] they have sent ahead, and the traces [of good and evil] which they have left behind: for of all things do We take account in a record clear. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Lo! We it is Who bring the dead to life. We record that which they send before (them, and their footprints. And all things We have kept in a clear Register. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary We shall surely raise the dead to life and We record what they did and the traces of their deeds that they have left behind.[1] We have encompassed that in a Clear Book. _Footnotes_ - [1] This shows that three kinds of the entries are made in the conduct-book of men. First, whatever a person does, good or bad is entered in the divine register. Second, whatever impressions a man makes on the objects of his environment and on the limbs of his own body itself, become recorded, and all these impressions will at one time become so conspicuous that man’s own voice will become audible and the whole history of his ideas and intentions and aims and objects and the pictures of all of his good and bad acts and deeds will appear before him. Third, whatever influences he has left behind of his good and bad actions on his future generation, on his society and on mankind as a whole, will go on being recorded in his account as far as they reach and as long as they remain active and operative. The full record of the good and bad training given by him to his children, the good or evil that he has spread in the society, and its impact on mankind as a whole, will go on being maintained till the time that it goes on producing good or evil results in the world. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab It is We Who raise the dead and record all they have advanced to their credit or debit-of deeds, acts, thoughts and actions and the aftermath of their doings. And all in all have We registered in a prototype, the archetypal Book. ### Bijan Moeinian Indeed I will summon you to Me after your earthly life and will show you all your recorded actions; you will see the reaction (even after your death) of all your good/ bad deeds which will affect your reward. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Verily, We give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before (them), and their traces[1] and all things We have recorded with numbers (as a record) in a Clear Book. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran It is certainly We Who resurrect the dead, and write what they send forth and what they leave behind. Bu ayetler okunurken, Mübin Duası olarak isimlendirilen, Arapça uzun bir söylemin okunması durumunda, dileklerin kabul edileceği biçiminde, halk arasında uydurma bir inanış vardır. Bilisiz kişiler tarafından yayılan bu uydurma inanış, anlamını bilmeden Kur'an okumanın kaçınılmaz sonuçlarından birisidir. Çünkü bu surede yedi kez tekrarlanan sözcüğün, Allah'ın Mübin sıfatı olduğu sanılmaktadır. Oysa bu ayetlerde geçen apaçık anlamındaki mübin sözcükleri, Allah'ın sıfatıyla ilgisi olmayan sıradan sözcüklerdir.
