_In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful._

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

## Verse 1

يٰسٓۜ

Ya-seen

yā sīn

## Verse 2

وَالْقُرْاٰنِ الْحَك۪يمِۙ

Walqur-ani alhakeem

By the wise Qur’an!

## Verse 3

اِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَل۪ينَۙ

Innaka lamina almursaleen

(Thou art among the emissaries

## Verse 4

عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍۜ

AAala siratin mustaqeem

On a straight path!)

## Verse 5

تَنْز۪يلَ الْعَز۪يزِ الرَّح۪يمِۙ

Tanzeela alAAazeezi arraheem

A revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

## Verse 6

لِتُنْذِرَ قَوْماً مَٓا اُنْذِرَ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬هُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ

Litunthira qawman ma onthiraabaohum fahum ghafiloon

That thou warn a people whose fathers were not warned; and they are heedless.

## Verse 7

لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلٰٓى اَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Laqad haqqa alqawlu AAalaaktharihim fahum la yu/minoon

Binding has become the word upon most of them, so they do not believe.

## Verse 8

اِنَّا جَعَلْنَا ف۪ٓي اَعْنَاقِهِمْ اَغْلَالاً فَهِيَ اِلَى الْاَذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ

Inna jaAAalna fee aAAnaqihimaghlalan fahiya ila al-athqani fahummuqmahoon

We placed yokes on their necks up to the chins, and they with heads forced high;

## Verse 9

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ اَيْد۪يهِمْ سَداًّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَداًّ فَاَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ

WajaAAalna min bayni aydeehim saddanwamin khalfihim saddan faaghshaynahum fahum la yubsiroon

And We made a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and covered them, so they see not.

## Verse 10

وَسَوَٓاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَاَنْذَرْتَهُمْ اَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Wasawaon AAalayhim aanthartahumam lam tunthirhum la yu/minoon

And it is the same to them whether thou warnedst them, or thou hast not warned them: they do not believe.

## Verse 11

اِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَاَجْرٍ كَر۪يمٍ

Innama tunthiru mani ittabaAAaaththikra wakhashiya arrahmanabilghaybi fabashshirhu bimaghfiratin waajrin kareem

Thou but warnest him who follows the remembrance, and fears the Almighty unseen. So bear thou glad tidings to him of forgiveness and a noble reward.

## Verse 12

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْـيِ الْمَوْتٰى وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَاٰثَارَهُمْۜ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ اَحْصَيْنَاهُ ف۪ٓي اِمَامٍ مُب۪ينٍ۟

Inna nahnu nuhyeealmawta wanaktubu ma qaddamoo waatharahumwakulla shay-in ahsaynahu fee imamin mubeen

We give life to the dead, and record what they sent ahead and they left behind; and everything have We counted in a clear book.

## Verse 13

وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلاً اَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِۢ اِذْ جَٓاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَۚ

Wadrib lahum mathalan as-habaalqaryati ith jaaha almursaloon

And strike thou for them a similitude: — the people of the city, when the emissaries came to it —

## Verse 14

اِذْ اَرْسَلْـنَٓا اِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُٓوا اِنَّٓا اِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ

Ith arsalna ilayhimu ithnaynifakaththaboohuma faAAazzazna bithalithinfaqaloo inna ilaykum mursaloon

When We sent to them two, then they denied them, so We reinforced with a third, and they said: “We are emissaries to you,”

## Verse 15

قَالُوا مَٓا اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَاۙ وَمَٓا اَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمٰنُ مِنْ شَيْءٍۙ اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ

Qaloo ma antum illabasharun mithluna wama anzala arrahmanumin shay-in in antum illa takthiboon

Said they: “You are only mortals like us; and the Almighty has not sent down anything. You only lie.”

## Verse 16

قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ اِنَّٓا اِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ

Qaloo rabbuna yaAAlamu innailaykum lamursaloon

They said: “Our Lord knows that we are emissaries to you,

## Verse 17

وَمَا عَلَيْنَٓا اِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُب۪ينُ

Wama AAalayna illaalbalaghu almubeen

“And upon us is only the clear notification.”

## Verse 18

قَالُٓوا اِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْۚ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ

Qaloo inna tatayyarnabikum la-in lam tantahoo lanarjumannakum walayamassannakum minnaAAathabun aleem

Said they: “We think you an evil omen. If you cease not, we will stone you; and there will touch you from us a painful punishment.”

## Verse 19

قَالُوا طَٓائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْۜ اَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْۜ بَلْ اَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ

Qaloo ta-irukum maAAakum a-in thukkirtumbal antum qawmun musrifoon

They said: “Your evil omen is with yourselves. Is it that you were reminded? The truth is, you are a people committing excess.”

## Verse 20

وَجَٓاءَ مِنْ اَقْصَا الْمَد۪ينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعٰى قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَل۪ينَۙ

Wajaa min aqsa almadeenatirajulun yasAAa qala ya qawmi ittabiAAooalmursaleen

And a man came running from the furthest part of the city. He said: “O my people: follow the emissaries!

## Verse 21

اِتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لَا يَسْـَٔلُكُمْ اَجْراً وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ

IttabiAAoo man la yas-alukum ajranwahum muhtadoon

“Follow those who ask of you no reward, and they are guided.

## Verse 22

وَمَا لِيَ لَٓا اَعْبُدُ الَّذ۪ي فَطَرَن۪ي وَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Wama liya la aAAbudu allatheefataranee wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon

“And why should I not serve Him who originated me, and to whom you will be returned?

## Verse 23

ءَاَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِه۪ٓ اٰلِهَةً اِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنّ۪ي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْـٔاً وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِۚ

Aattakhithu min doonihi alihatanin yuridni arrahmanu bidurrin la tughniAAannee shafaAAatuhum shay-an wala yunqithoon

“Shall I take gods besides Him? If the Almighty intends me harm, their intercession will avail me nothing, nor can they rescue me;

## Verse 24

اِنّ۪ٓي اِذاً لَف۪ي ضَلَالٍ مُب۪ينٍ

Innee ithan lafee dalalinmubeen

“Then should I be in manifest error.

## Verse 25

اِنّ۪ٓي اٰمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِۜ

Innee amantu birabbikum fasmaAAoon

“I believe in your Lord; so hear me!”

## Verse 26

ق۪يلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَۜ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْم۪ي يَعْلَمُونَۙ

Qeela odkhuli aljannata qala yalayta qawmee yaAAlamoon

It was said: “Enter thou the Garden.” He said: “I would that my people knew

## Verse 27

بِمَا غَفَرَ ل۪ي رَبّ۪ي وَجَعَلَن۪ي مِنَ الْمُكْرَم۪ينَ

Bima ghafara lee rabbee wajaAAalaneemina almukrameen

“Of how my Lord has pardoned me, and placed me among the honoured!”

## Verse 28

وَمَٓا اَنْزَلْنَا عَلٰى قَوْمِه۪ مِنْ بَعْدِه۪ مِنْ جُنْدٍ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنْزِل۪ينَ

Wama anzalna AAalaqawmihi min baAAdihi min jundin mina assama-i wamakunna munzileen

And We sent not down upon his people after him any host from the sky; — and nor would We have sent down —

## Verse 29

اِنْ كَانَتْ اِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَاِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ

In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum khamidoon

It was only one Blast, and then were they extinguished.

## Verse 30

يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِۚ مَا يَأْت۪يهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ اِلَّا كَانُوا بِه۪ يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ

Ya hasratan AAalaalAAibadi ma ya/teehim min rasoolin illa kanoobihi yastahzi-oon

Oh, the sorrow for the servants! There came not to them a messenger save they mocked him.

## Verse 31

اَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ اَنَّهُمْ اِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ

Alam yaraw kam ahlakna qablahum minaalqurooni annahum ilayhim la yarjiAAoon

Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them — that they to them will not return?

## Verse 32

وَاِنْ كُلٌّ لَمَّا جَم۪يعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ۟

Wa-in kullun lamma jameeAAun ladaynamuhdaroon

And all of them will be brought present before Us.

## Verse 33

وَاٰيَةٌ لَهُمُ الْاَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُۚ اَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَاَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَباًّ فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ

Waayatun lahumu al-ardualmaytatu ahyaynaha waakhrajna minhahabban faminhu ya/kuloon

And a proof for them is the dead earth. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grain, then they eat thereof;

## Verse 34

وَجَعَلْنَا ف۪يهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِنْ نَخ۪يلٍ وَاَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا ف۪يهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِۙ

WajaAAalna feeha jannatinmin nakheelin waaAAnabin wafajjarna feehamina alAAuyoon

And We made therein gardens of date-palms and grapevines; and We caused to gush forth therein springs,

## Verse 35

لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِه۪ۙ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ اَيْد۪يهِمْۜ اَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

Liya/kuloo min thamarihi wamaAAamilat-hu aydeehim afala yashkuroon

That they might eat of its fruit. And their hands made it not. Will they then not be grateful!

## Verse 36

سُبْحَانَ الَّذ۪ي خَلَقَ الْاَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الْاَرْضُ وَمِنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Subhana allathee khalaqaal-azwaja kullaha mimma tunbitu al-arduwamin anfusihim wamimma la yaAAlamoon

Glory be to Him who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not!

## Verse 37

وَاٰيَةٌ لَهُمُ الَّيْلُۚ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَاِذَا هُمْ مُظْلِمُونَۙ

Waayatun lahumu allaylu naslakhuminhu annahara fa-itha hum muthlimoon

And a proof for them is the night: We peel away from it the day, and then are they in darkness.

## Verse 38

وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْر۪ي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَاۜ ذٰلِكَ تَقْد۪يرُ الْعَز۪يزِ الْعَل۪يمِۜ

Washshamsu tajree limustaqarrin lahathalika taqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleem

And the sun: it runs to its resting-place; that is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

## Verse 39

وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتّٰى عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَد۪يمِ

Walqamara qaddarnahu manazilahatta AAada kalAAurjooni alqadeem

And the moon: We have determined for it phases, until it returns like the old date-leaf stalk.

## Verse 40

لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغ۪ي لَـهَٓا اَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا الَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِۜ وَكُلٌّ ف۪ي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ

La ashshamsu yanbaghee lahaan tudrika alqamara wala allaylu sabiqu annahariwakullun fee falakin yasbahoon

It behoves not the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day; and each is in a circuit swimming.

## Verse 41

وَاٰيَةٌ لَهُمْ اَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِۙ

Waayatun lahum anna hamalnathurriyyatahum fee alfulki almashhoon

And a proof for them is that We bore their progeny in the laden ship.

## Verse 42

وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مِثْلِه۪ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ

Wakhalaqna lahum min mithlihi mayarkaboon

And We created for them the like thereof which they ride.

## Verse 43

وَاِنْ نَشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَر۪يخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْقَذُونَۙ

Wa-in nasha/ nughriqhum fala sareekhalahum wala hum yunqathoon

And if We will, We drown them; then none have they to cry to, nor are they rescued,

## Verse 44

اِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِنَّا وَمَتَاعاً اِلٰى ح۪ينٍ

Illa rahmatan minnawamataAAan ila heen

Save as a mercy from Us, and as enjoyment for a time.

## Verse 45

وَاِذَا ق۪يلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ اَيْد۪يكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

Wa-itha qeela lahumu ittaqoo mabayna aydeekum wama khalfakum laAAallakum turhamoon

But when it is said to them: “Be in prudent fear of what is before you, and what is behind you, that you might obtain mercy[...].”

## Verse 46

وَمَا تَأْت۪يهِمْ مِنْ اٰيَةٍ مِنْ اٰيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ اِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِض۪ينَ

Wama ta/teehim min ayatin min ayatirabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideen

And there comes not to them a proof among the proofs of their Lord save they turn away therefrom.

## Verse 47

وَاِذَا ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ اَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللّٰهُۙ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اَنُطْعِمُ مَنْ لَوْ يَشَٓاءُ اللّٰهُ اَطْعَمَهُۗ اِنْ اَنْتُمْ اِلَّا ف۪ي ضَلَالٍ مُب۪ينٍ

Wa-itha qeela lahum anfiqoo mimmarazaqakumu Allahu qala allatheena kafaroolillatheena amanoo anutAAimu man law yashaoAllahu atAAamahu in antum illa fee dalalinmubeen

And when it is said to them: “Spend of what God has provided you,” those who ignore warning say to those who heed warning: “Shall we feed one whom, had God willed, He would have fed? You are only in manifest error.”

## Verse 48

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتٰى هٰذَا الْوَعْدُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِق۪ينَ

Wayaqooloona mata hathaalwaAAdu in kuntum sadiqeen

And they say: “When is this promise, if you be truthful?”

## Verse 49

مَا يَنْظُرُونَ اِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ

Ma yanthuroona illasayhatan wahidatan ta/khuthuhum wahumyakhissimoon

They look only for one Blast which will seize them while they are disputing —

## Verse 50

فَلَا يَسْتَط۪يعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَٓا اِلٰٓى اَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ۟

Fala yastateeAAoona tawsiyatanwala ila ahlihim yarjiAAoon

They will not be able to make a bequest, nor will they return to their people.

## Verse 51

وَنُفِـخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَاِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الْاَجْدَاثِ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ

Wanufikha fee assoori fa-ithahum mina al-ajdathi ila rabbihim yansiloon

And the Trumpet will be blown; and then from the graves will they hasten forth to their Lord.

## Verse 52

قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَ۔اۢ هٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Qaloo ya waylana manbaAAathana min marqadina hatha mawaAAada arrahmanu wasadaqaalmursaloon

They will say: “Woe is us! Who has raised us from our sleeping place?” — “This is what the Almighty promised! And the emissaries spoke truth!”

## Verse 53

اِنْ كَانَتْ اِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَاِذَا هُمْ جَم۪يعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ

In kanat illa sayhatanwahidatan fa-itha hum jameeAAun ladayna muhdaroon

It will be only one Blast — and then are they summoned before Us all together:

## Verse 54

فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْـٔاً وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ اِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

Falyawma la tuthlamunafsun shay-an wala tujzawna illa ma kuntumtaAAmaloon

“This day no soul will be wronged in anything, and you will not be rewarded save for what you did.”

## Verse 55

اِنَّ اَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ ف۪ي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَۚ

Inna as-haba aljannati alyawmafee shughulin fakihoon

The companions of the Garden, this day, will be engaged in gladness,

## Verse 56

هُمْ وَاَزْوَاجُهُمْ ف۪ي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْاَرَٓائِكِ مُتَّكِؤُ۫نَ

Hum waazwajuhum fee thilalinAAala al-ara-iki muttaki-oon

They and their wives, in shade, upon couches reclining.

## Verse 57

لَهُمْ ف۪يهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُمْ مَا يَدَّعُونَۚ

Lahum feeha fakihatun walahumma yaddaAAoon

They have therein fruit, and they have what they call for.

## Verse 58

سَلَامٌ قَوْلاً مِنْ رَبٍّ رَح۪يمٍ

Salamun qawlan min rabbin raheem

“Peace!” — as a word from a merciful Lord —

## Verse 59

وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ اَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

“But separate yourselves this day, O you lawbreakers!

## Verse 60

اَلَمْ اَعْهَدْ اِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَن۪ٓي اٰدَمَ اَنْ لَا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَۚ اِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُب۪ينٌۙ

Alam aAAhad ilaykum ya banee adamaan la taAAbudoo ashshaytana innahu lakumAAaduwwun mubeen

“Did I not commission you, O children of Adam, that you serve not the satan,” — he is an open enemy to you —

## Verse 61

وَاَنِ اعْبُدُون۪يۜ هٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَق۪يمٌ

Waani oAAbudoonee hatha siratunmustaqeem

“But that you serve Me? This is a straight path.

## Verse 62

وَلَقَدْ اَضَلَّ مِنْكُمْ جِبِلاًّ كَث۪يراًۜ اَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ

Walaqad adalla minkum jibillankatheeran afalam takoonoo taAAqiloon

“And he led astray among you a great multitude. Did you then not use reason?

هٰذِه۪ جَهَنَّمُ الَّت۪ي كُنْتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ

Hathihi jahannamu allatee kuntumtooAAadoon

“This is Gehenna: — which you were promised —

اِصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

Islawha alyawma bimakuntum takfuroon

“Burn therein this day, for what you denied!”

## Verse 65

اَلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلٰٓى اَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَٓا اَيْد۪يهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ اَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

Alyawma nakhtimu AAala afwahihimwatukallimuna aydeehim watashhadu arjuluhum bima kanooyaksiboon

This day, will We seal their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will bear witness as to what they earned.

## Verse 66

وَلَوْ نَشَٓاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلٰٓى اَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَاَنّٰى يُبْصِرُونَ

Walaw nashao latamasnaAAala aAAyunihim fastabaqoo assiratafaanna yubsiroon

And had We willed, We would have blinded their eyes; then would they compete for the path, but how would they see?

## Verse 67

وَلَوْ نَشَٓاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلٰى مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِياًّ وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ۟

Walaw nashao lamasakhnahumAAala makanatihim fama istataAAoo mudiyyanwala yarjiAAoon

And had We willed, We would have so transformed them in their places, they could neither proceed nor return.

## Verse 68

وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِۜ اَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ

Waman nuAAammirhu nunakkis-hu fee alkhalqiafala yaAAqiloon

And to whom We give long life, We reverse him in creation. Will you then not use reason!

وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنْبَغ۪ي لَهُۜ اِنْ هُوَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْاٰنٌ مُب۪ينٌۙ

Wama AAallamnahu ashshiAArawama yanbaghee lahu in huwa illa thikrunwaqur-anun mubeen

And We taught him not poetry, and it does not behove him; it is only a remembrance and a clear recitation

## Verse 70

لِيُنْذِرَ مَنْ كَانَ حَياًّ وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِر۪ينَ

Liyunthira man kana hayyanwayahiqqa alqawlu AAala alkafireen

To warn whoso is alive, and that the word might become binding against the false claimers of guidance.

## Verse 71

اَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِمَّا عَمِلَتْ اَيْد۪ينَٓا اَنْعَاماً فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ

Awa lam yaraw anna khalaqnalahum mimma AAamilat aydeena anAAaman fahumlaha malikoon

Have they not considered that We created cattle for them of what Our hands made, then are they their masters?

## Verse 72

وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ

Wathallalnaha lahumfaminha rakoobuhum waminha ya/kuloon

And We subdued them to them, and some of them they ride, and some of them they eat;

وَلَهُمْ ف۪يهَا مَنَافِـعُ وَمَشَارِبُۜ اَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ

Walahum feeha manafiAAu wamasharibuafala yashkuroon

And they have in them benefits and drinks. Will they then not be grateful?

## Verse 74

وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اٰلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنْصَرُونَۜ

Wattakhathoo min dooni Allahialihatan laAAallahum yunsaroon

But they have taken gods other than God, that they might be helped.

لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْۙ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُحْضَرُونَ

La yastateeAAoona nasrahumwahum lahum jundun muhdaroon

They cannot help them, and they are for them a force summoned.

## Verse 76

فَلَا يَحْزُنْكَ قَوْلُهُمْۢ اِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ

Fala yahzunka qawluhum innanaAAlamu ma yusirroona wama yuAAlinoon

So let not their speech grieve thee; We know what they conceal and what they make known.

## Verse 77

اَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ فَاِذَا هُوَ خَص۪يمٌ مُب۪ينٌ

Awa lam yara al-insanu annakhalaqnahu min nutfatin fa-itha huwa khaseemunmubeen

Has man not considered that We created him from a sperm-drop? And then is he an open disputant.

## Verse 78

وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلاً وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُۜ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْـيِ الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَم۪يمٌ

Wadaraba lana mathalanwanasiya khalqahu qala man yuhyee alAAithamawahiya rameem

And he strikes for Us a similitude, and forgets his creation; he says: “Who will give life to the bones when they are rotted away?”

## Verse 79

قُلْ يُحْي۪يهَا الَّـذ۪ٓي اَنْشَاَهَٓا اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۜ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَل۪يمٌۙ

Qul yuhyeeha allatheeanshaaha awwala marratin wahuwa bikulli khalqin AAaleem

Say thou: “He will give them life who produced them the first time,” — and He knows all creation —

## Verse 80

اَلَّذ۪ي جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ الْاَخْضَرِ نَاراً فَاِذَٓا اَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ

Allathee jaAAala lakum mina ashshajarial-akhdari naran fa-itha antum minhutooqidoon

“Who made for you from the green tree fire, and then therefrom you kindle.”

## Verse 81

اَوَلَيْسَ الَّذ۪ي خَلَقَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلٰٓى اَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْۜ بَلٰى وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَل۪يمُ

Awa laysa allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda biqadirin AAala an yakhluqamithlahum bala wahuwa alkhallaqu alAAaleem

Is not He who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Verily; and He is the Knowing Creator.

## Verse 82

اِنَّـمَٓا اَمْرُهُٓ اِذَٓا اَرَادَ شَيْـٔاً اَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ

Innama amruhu itha aradashay-an an yaqoola lahu kun fayakoon

His command, when He intends a thing, is that He says to it: “Be thou,” and it is.

## Verse 83

فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذ۪ي بِيَدِه۪ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَاِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Fasubhana allathee biyadihimalakootu kulli shay-in wa-ilayhi turjaAAoon

So glory be to Him in whose hand is the dominion of all things! And to Him you will be returned.
