Surah Taha (Ta-Ha) — سورة طه - **Verse:** 114 / 135 · **Juz:** 16 · **Mushaf page:** 319 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-taha/verse-114 ## Arabic فَتَعَالَى اللّٰهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّۚ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْاٰنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ يُقْضٰٓى اِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۘ وَقُلْ رَبِّ زِدْن۪ي عِلْماً ## Transcription FataAAala Allahualmaliku alhaqqu wala taAAjal bilqur-animin qabli an yuqda ilayka wahyuhu waqul rabbizidnee AAilma ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley High exalted be Allah, the King, the Real! Do not rush ahead with the Qur’an before its revelation to you is complete, and say: ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge. ’ ### Progressive Muslims Then High above all is God, the King, the True. And do not be hasty with the Quran before its inspiration is completed to you, and Say: "My Lord, increase my knowledge." ### Shabbir Ahmed Know, then, that Sublimely Exalted is Allah, the Ultimate Sovereign, the Ultimate Truth. (O Prophet) Hasten not in the learning and implementation of the Message of the Qur'an before a particular revelation to you is completed. These Messages given to you shall be established in stages, but always say, "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge." And hasten not (O Muhammad) with the Qur'an ere its revelation hath been perfected unto thee, and say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Exalted is Allah, the True King![1] Hasten not with reciting the Qur'an before its revelation to you is finished, and pray: "Lord! Increase me in knowledge."[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] Such sentences as this are usually found in the Quran at the end of a discourse so that it may end with the praise of Allah. It is plain from the context that the discourse ends with "the Sovereign." - [2] At the end of the discourse, the angel cautions the Prophet (peace be upon him) by Allah’s command to guard against a thing that had been noticed during the revelation, for it was not considered appropriate to do so during its recital. It is obvious from the wording of the caution that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was trying to learn the revealed discourse and was repeating it during its recital by the angel. Naturally this might have diverted his attention over and over again from listening to and grasping the revelation. Therefore it was felt necessary that he should be taught the right method of the receipt of the message of revelation and be asked not to try to commit it to memory during the revelation. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Exalted be Allah and extolled are His glorious attributes, the Supreme Sovereign, the Truth personified. Do not rush O Muhammad to recite the Quran before the inspired passage is completed -that is while the Angel Jebril is imparting the divine revelation- and invoke Allah to augment your knowledge, thus: "May I ask You O Allah, my Creator, to advance my knowledge". ### Bijan Moeinian Hi and above all is God, the true King.
