Surah Sad (The letter Saad) — سورة ص - **Verse:** 14 / 88 · **Juz:** 23 · **Mushaf page:** 452 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-sad/verse-14 ## Arabic اِنْ كُلٌّ اِلَّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ۟ ## Transcription In kullun illa kaththaba arrusulafahaqqa AAiqab ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Each one of them denied the Messengers and so My punishment was justly carried out. ### Progressive Muslims Each of them disbelieved the messengers, therefore My retribution came to be. ### Shabbir Ahmed All of them accused the Messengers of lying. Hence, My Law justly grasped them. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Each only denied the messengers, so My retribution became binding. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Each of them disbelieved the messengers, therefore My retribution came to be. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Each of them disbelieved the messengers and thus, My retribution was inevitable. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. ### Muhammad Asad not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Each of them gave the lie to Messengers and My decree of chastisement came upon them. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Each and all of them confederated their hands and their minds to oppose the Messengers and accused them of falsehood; retribution, was therefore justified. ### Bijan Moeinian All the above mentioned people denied their prophets and, therefore, deserved My (God’s) punishment. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Not one of them but belied the Messengers; therefore My Torment was justified, ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Each rejected their messenger, so My punishment was justified. ### Taqi Usmani All of them did nothing but declare the messengers as liars; hence, My punishment became due. ### Abdul Haleem They all rejected the mes-sengers and they were deservedly struck by My punishment: ### Arthur John Arberry not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. ### E. Henry Palmer They all did naught but call the apostles liars, and just was the punishment! ### Hamid S. Aziz There was none of them but denied the messengers, therefore, just was My retribution. ### Mahmoud Ghali Decidedly not one but cried lies to the Messengers, so My punishment came true. ### George Sale All of them did no other than accuse their apostles of falsehood: Wherefore my vengeance hath been justly executed upon them. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed Not one (of them did anything) but denied the messengers, but My punishment came justly and surely (to them). ### Amatul Rahman Omar Each one had cried lies to the Messengers.
