Surah Saba (Sheba) — سورة سَبَأ - **Verse:** 47 / 54 · **Juz:** 22 · **Mushaf page:** 432 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-saba/verse-47 ## Arabic قُلْ مَا سَاَلْتُكُمْ مِنْ اَجْرٍ فَهُوَ لَكُمْۜ اِنْ اَجْرِيَ اِلَّا عَلَى اللّٰهِۚ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَه۪يدٌ ## Transcription Qul ma saaltukum min ajrin fahuwalakum in ajriya illa AAala Allahi wahuwaAAala kulli shay-in shaheed ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Say: ‘I have not asked you for any wage – it is all for you. My wage is the responsibility of Allah alone. He is witness of everything.’ ### Progressive Muslims Say: "I have not asked you for any wage; you can keep it. My wage is from God, and He is witness over all things." ### Shabbir Ahmed Say, "Whatever reward do I ask you, it is yours. He is Witness over all things. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Say to them: "Whatever recompense I might ask of you, it shall be yours.[1] My recompense is with Allah, and He is witness over everything."[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] Another meaning of this can be: "I do not ask anything but your well-being: My only recompense is that you should be reformed." This thing has been expressed at another place thus; “O Prophet, say to them: I do not ask of you any recompense for this: I only ask of the one, who will, to adopt the way of his Lord.” (Surah Al-Furqan, Ayat 57). - [2] That is, "The accusers may say whatever they like but Allah knows everything. He is a witness that I am a selfless person. I am not perforating this mission for any selfish motive." ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And say to them: "I never asked of you a price, my advice to you is entirely in your own interest while my reward rests in the hands of Allah Who is Shahidun (Who witnesses all things)". ### Bijan Moeinian Say: "I am not asking for a wage [for my teaching you the truth]; you can keep it.
