Surah Nuh (Noah) — سورة نوح - **Verse:** 25 / 28 · **Juz:** 29 · **Mushaf page:** 570 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-nuh/verse-25 ## Arabic مِمَّا خَط۪ٓيـَٔاتِهِمْ اُغْرِقُوا فَاُدْخِلُوا نَاراً فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اَنْصَاراً ## Transcription Mimma khatee-atihimoghriqoo faodkhiloo naran falam yajidoo lahum min dooniAllahi ansara ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Because of their errors they were drowned and put into the Fire. They found no one to help them besides Allah. ### Progressive Muslims For their sins they were drowned, then they were admitted to the Fire, and they could not find beside God any victor. ### Shabbir Ahmed And so, because of faults upon faults, they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found out that they had no helpers besides Allah. (Made to enter: Before Allah is Eternal Now. The past tense also indicates the inevitable outcome). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Because of their offences they were drowned, and made to enter a Fire, and they found for them, besides God, no helpers. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Because of their wrongdoing they were drowned, then they were admitted to the Fire, and they could not find besides God any victor. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Because of their sins they were drowned and assigned to the hellfire. They found no helpers to protect them from GOD. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira They were drowned because of their habitual sinfulness, and sent to Hell, and did not find any helper other than God. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers. ### Muhammad Asad And so, because of their sins, they were drowned [in the great flood], and were doomed to suffer the fire [of the hereafter]; and they found none who could succour them against God. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Because of their sins they were drowned, then made to enter a Fire. And they found they had no helpers in place of Allah. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary And so they were drowned on account of their sins, and then cast into the Fire,[1] and did not find any other than Allah,[2] to come forth to their help. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, drowning was not their end, but after death their souls were immediately subjected to the punishment of the Fire. This precisely was the treatment that was meted out to Pharaoh and his people, as has been stated in (Surah Al-Momin, Ayats 45-46). (For explanation, (see E.N. 63 of Surah Al-Momin). This verse also is of those verses which prove the punishment of barzakh (intermediary stage between death and Resurrection). - [2] That is, none of the gods whom they looked upon as their supporters and helpers came to their rescue. This, in fact, was a warning to the people of Makkah, as if to say: If you too are subjected to the torment of Allah, these gods on whom you have placed all your reliance, will avail you absolutely nothing. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Therefore on account of their countless transgressions of the divine laws and their offenses against Allah, they were drowned in the flood, and their disembodied souls have been imprisoned in Hell, and they found no one to afford them protection from Allah's retributory punishment. ### Bijan Moeinian In account of their sins God drowned them and they will be cast into Hellfire where they will find no saver but their Lord. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Because of their sins they were drowned, then were made to enter the Fire. And they found none to help them instead of Allâh. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Because of their sins they were drowned (in the flood), and were made to enter the Fire (of Punishment): and they found- in lieu of Allah- none to help them. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran So because of their sins, they were drowned, then admitted into the Fire.
