Surah Muhammad (Muhammad) — سورة محمد - **Verse:** 38 / 38 · **Juz:** 26 · **Mushaf page:** 509 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-muhammad/verse-38 ## Arabic هَٓا اَنْتُمْ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنْفِقُوا ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۚ فَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يَبْخَلُۚ وَمَنْ يَبْخَلْ فَاِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَنْ نَفْسِه۪ۜ وَاللّٰهُ الْغَنِيُّ وَاَنْتُمُ الْفُقَـرَٓاءُۚ وَاِنْ تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْۙ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُٓوا اَمْثَالَكُمْ ## Transcription Ha antum haola-itudAAawna litunfiqoo fee sabeeli Allahi faminkum manyabkhalu waman yabkhal fa-innama yabkhalu AAan nafsihi wallahualghaniyyu waantumu alfuqarao wa-in tatawallaw yastabdilqawman ghayrakum thumma la yakoonoo amthalakum ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Here you are then: people who are called upon to spend in the Way of Allah and then some of you are tight-fisted! But whoever is tight-fisted is only tight-fisted to himself. Allah is Rich and you are poor. If you turn away, He will replace you with a people other than yourselves and they will not be like you. ### Progressive Muslims Here you are being invited to spend in the cause of God, but some among you turn stingy. And whoever is stingy is only being stingy on himself. And God is the Rich, while you are the poor. Whoever is niggardly is in fact niggardly to himself. For Allah is All-Sufficient, whereas it is you who are in need of Him. If you turn away, He will replace you by a people other than you, and they will not be like you. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab There, at that point, you people are invited to spend, all that you can afford in the cause of Allah. Some of you will show unwillingness, and he who is parsimonious and unwilling, will only deny himself the future security depending on how much he had advanced in life to be credited to his own account in heaven's realm. And remember that Allah is AL-Ghaniy (Independent and Absolute); He is the riches of the heavens and the earth and if you are as dependent on Him as indeed you are, then you are poor enough and if you people turn a deaf ear, He will replace you by other people who will not be the like. ### Bijan Moeinian You are invited to spend [as generously as you can] in the way of God. Among you they are some who are stingy. The stingy ones are indeed stingy toward their own soul. Know that God is rich: It is you who are poor. If you turn away, God will replace you by another people and they will definitely will not be like you. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Behold! You are those who are called to spend in the Cause of Allâh, yet among you are some who are niggardly. And whoever is niggardly, it is only at the expense of his ownself. But Allâh is Rich (Free of all needs), and you (mankind) are poor. And if you turn away (from Islâm and the obedience to Allâh), He will exchange you for some other people and they will not be your likes. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Behold, ye are those invited to spend (of your substance) in the Way of Allah: But among you are some that are niggardly. But any who are niggardly are so at the expense of their own souls. But Allah is free of all wants, and it is ye that are needy. Still some of you withhold. And whoever does so, it is only to their own loss. For Allah is the Self-Sufficient, whereas you stand in need ˹of Him˺. And they will not be like you. ### Taqi Usmani Yes, you are such that you are called upon to spend in Allah’s way, but some of you withhold in miserliness- and he who withholds in miserliness withholds against himself- and Allah is the Need-Free, and you are the needy. Whoever is grudging is so only towards himself: God is the source of wealth and you are the needy ones. Eğer siz yüz çevirecek olursanız, sizden başka bir kavmi getirip değiştirir. Sonra onlar, sizin benzeriniz de olmazlar. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim İşte siz Allah yolunda (ancak farz olanı) harcamanıza da'vet edilmekde olanlarsınız. Sonra onlar sizin benzerleriniz olmazlar. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Bakın, (ey müminler,) sizler Allah yolunda sınırsızca harcama yapmaya çağrılıyorsunuz: ama sizin aranızda (bile) cimrice davrananlar var! Ve kim (Allah yolunda) cimrice davranırsa, sadece kendisine karşı cimrilik yapmış olur. Çünkü Allah kendi kendine yeterlidir, halbuki siz (O'na) muhtaçsınız; ve şayet (O'ndan) yüz çevirirseniz, başka toplumları sizin yerinize geçirir ve onlar sizin gibi yapmazlar! ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı -İşte siz, Allah yolunda harcamaya davet olunan kimselersiniz.
