Surah Luqman (Luqman) — سورة لقمان - **Verse:** 7 / 34 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 410 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-luqman/verse-7 ## Arabic وَاِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ اٰيَاتُنَا وَلّٰى مُسْتَكْبِراً كَاَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَاَنَّ ف۪ٓي اُذُنَيْهِ وَقْراًۚ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ اَل۪يمٍ ## Transcription Wa-itha tutla AAalayhi ayatunawalla mustakbiran kaan lam yasmaAAha kaanna fee othunayhiwaqran fabashshirhu biAAathabin aleem ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley When Our Signs are recited to such a person, he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard, as if there was a great weight in his ears. So give him news of a painful punishment. ### Progressive Muslims And when Our revelations are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he did not hear them, as if there is a deafness in his ears. So announce to him a painful retribution. ### Shabbir Ahmed Whenever Our Verses are conveyed to such a purchaser of Hadith, he turns away in arrogance as if he never heard them - as if there were deafness in his ears.
