Surah Luqman (Luqman) — سورة لقمان - **Verse:** 30 / 34 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 413 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-luqman/verse-30 ## Arabic ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ وَاَنَّ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ الْبَاطِلُۙ وَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْكَب۪يرُ۟ ## Transcription Thalika bi-anna Allaha huwa alhaqquwaanna ma yadAAoona min doonihi albatilu waanna Allahahuwa alAAaliyyu alkabeer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley That is because Allah – He is the Truth, and what you call upon besides Him is falsehood. Allah is the All-High, the Most Great. ### Progressive Muslims That is because God is the truth, and that which they call on besides Him is falsehood, and that God is the High, the Great. ### Shabbir Ahmed Thus it is - since Allah, He is the True, and what they call upon instead of Him is the False. You have yourselves presumed that so-and-so has got a share in Godhead, and so-and-so has been given the powers to remove hardships and fulfill needs, whereas in fact none of them has any power to make or un-make anything." - [2] That is, "He is the Highest of all before Whom everything is low, and He is the Greatest of all before Whom everything is small." - [3] That is, such signs show that all powers rest only with Allah. Man may make as strong and suitable ships for his sea journeys as he likes, and may achieve whatever perfection in marine science and in the related knowledge and experience, these by themselves cannot avail him anything to perform safe voyages especially when confronted by the terrible forces at the sea, unless he is succored by the grace of Allah. As soon as Allah’s grace is withdrawn, man immediately realizes how meager and insufficient are the means and resources and knowledge of the sciences. Similarly, man in the state of peace and security may be a hardened atheist or polytheist, but when his boat loses balance in the storm at sea, even the atheist comes to realize that there is God and the polytheist that there is only One God. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab This is to implement the absolute fact that Allah is the absolute truth and all that they invoke besides Him is falsehood personified and that Allah is AL- 'Aliye (the Supreme) and AL-Kabir (the Paramount!) ### Bijan Moeinian God [who is behind all this majestic creation] is the Truth and those whom you worship [idols, women, wealth, boss, etc. ] are false gods [as they do not have any part in the creation.] Only God is the Most High, the Most Great. ### Al-Hilali & Khan That is because Allâh, He is the Truth, and that which they invoke besides Him[1] is Al-Bâtil (falsehood, Satan and all other false deities); and that Allâh, He is the Most High, the Most Great. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali That is because Allah is the (only) Reality, and because whatever else they invoke besides Him is Falsehood; and because Allah,- He is the Most High, Most Great. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran That is because Allah ˹alone˺ is the Truth and what they invoke besides Him is falsehood, and ˹because˺ Allah ˹alone˺ is the Most High, All-Great. ### Taqi Usmani That is because Allah is the only Real One and what they invoke other than Him is false and Allah is the High, the Great. ### Abdul Haleem This is because God is the Truth, and what they invoke beside Him is false.
