Surah Luqman (Luqman) — سورة لقمان - **Verse:** 25 / 34 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 412 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-luqman/verse-25 ## Arabic وَلَئِنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللّٰهُۜ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِۜ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ## Transcription Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda layaqoolunna Allahu quli alhamdulillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAlamoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley If you asked them, ‘Who created the heavens and the earth?’ they would say, ‘Allah!’ Say: ‘Praise be to Allah!’ But most of them do not know. ### Progressive Muslims And if you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the Earth" They will Say: "God. " Say: "Praise be to God." Yet, most of them do not know. ### Shabbir Ahmed And thus it is: If you ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" They will answer, "Allah". " Say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allah "; but most of them do not know. ### Muhammad Asad AND THUS it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, “God. ” Say: “[Then you ought to know that] all praise is due to God!”- for most of them do not know [what this implies]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall If thou shouldst ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth? they would answer: Allah. Say: Praise be to Allah! But most of them know not. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary If you were to ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will certainly reply: “Allah.” Say: “All praise and thanks be to Allah.”[1] Yet most of them do not know.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That, is, "Most of the people do not know what are the inevitable results and demands of accepting Allah as the Creator of the universe, and what contradicts it. When a person acknowledges Allah as the Creator of the earth and the heavens. He should also acknowledge that Allah alone is the Deity and Lord: that He alone is worthy of worship and obedience: that He alone can be invoked for needs, and no one other than Him can be the Law-Giver and Ruler of His creation. To acknowledge one as the Creator and another as the deity is contrary to reason and a contradiction in terms, which can be upheld only by an ignorant person. Likewise, it would be a contradiction in terms to believe in one Being as the Creator and to regard another from among the creation as remover of hardships or as a deity and possessor of power and authority and sovereignty, which no reasonable person will acknowledge and accept." - [2] That is, "The reality is not merely this that Allah is the Creator of the earth and the heavens, but in fact He alone is the Master of all things found in the earth and heavens. Allah has not created his universe and left it to others to become masters of the whole or a part of it, but He Himself is Master of His creation and everything that exists in this universe is His. Here, He alone possesses divine rights and powers and no one else." ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And if you should ask them O Muhammad as to who has created the heavens and the earth? They will say: "Allah". Then say to them: "Praise be to Him to Whom praises precede and thanks succeed". Never doubt but most of them have empty knowledge. ### Bijan Moeinian If you ask them: "Who has created the earth and the heavens?" they will say: “God. ” Say: “Thank Lord [that at least you know this much]; If it is so then none should be worshipped but the Lord.” What a shame that most of them are deprived of common sense. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And if you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth," they will certainly say: "Allâh." Say: "All the praises and thanks be to Allâh!" But most of them know not. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali If thou ask them, who it is that created the heavens and the earth. They will certainly say, "Allah". Say: "Praise be to Allah!" But most of them understand not. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will definitely say, "Allah!" Say, “Praise be to Allah!” In fact, most of them do not know. ### Taqi Usmani And if you ask them as to who has created the heavens and the earth, they will certainly say, "Allah." Say, “AlHamdulillāh ” (Praise be to Allah).
