Surah Luqman (Luqman) — سورة لقمان - **Verse:** 16 / 34 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 411 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-luqman/verse-16 ## Arabic يَا بُنَيَّ اِنَّـهَٓا اِنْ تَكُ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ فَتَكُنْ ف۪ي صَخْرَةٍ اَوْ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ اَوْ فِي الْاَرْضِ يَأْتِ بِهَا اللّٰهُۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَط۪يفٌ خَب۪يرٌ ## Transcription Ya bunayya innaha in takumithqala habbatin min khardalin fatakun fee sakhratinaw fee assamawati aw fee al-ardiya/ti biha Allahu inna Allaha lateefunkhabeer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley ‘My son, even if something weighs as little as a mustard-seed and is inside a rock or anywhere else in the heavens or earth, Allah will bring it out. Allah is All-Pervading, All-Aware. ### Progressive Muslims "O my son, if it be anything even as the weight of a mustard seed, be it deep inside a rock, or be it in the heavens or the Earth, God will bring it. Indeed, Allah is Subtle and Acquainted. ### Muhammad Asad "O my dear son, " [continued Luqman,] “verily, if there be but the weight of a mustard-seed, and though it be [hidden] in a rock, or in the skies, or in the earth, God will bring it to light: for, behold, God is unfathomable [in His wisdom], all-aware ### Marmaduke Pickthall O my dear son! Lo! though it be but the weight of a grain of mustard-seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Lo! Allah is Subtile, Aware. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary (Luqman said):[1] "Son, Allah will bring forth[2] everything even if it be as small as the grain of a mustard seed even though it be hidden inside a rock or (anywhere) in the heavens or earth. Allah is Most Subtle, All-Aware. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, nothing can escape Allah’s knowledge and His grasp. A seed in the rock may be hidden for you, but it is known to Allah. A particle in the heavens may be very distant for you, but for Allah it is very near. A thing lying in the layers of the earth may be lying in darkness for you but for him it is in full light. Therefore, you cannot do anything good or bad, anywhere or any time, which may remain hidden from Allah. He is not only aware of it, but when the time for accountability comes, He will place before you a full record of each act of yours. - [2] In this there is a subtle allusion to this that whoever will enjoin good and forbid evil, will inevitably have to face and undergo afflictions and hardships in the world. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "My son", he said, "you must realize that everything material or immaterial as light or as little as a mustard seed be it inside a rock or in the heavens or on earth shall Allah bring it to light, Allah is Latifun (Gracious). He gives His servants an understanding, heart and He is Khabirun (Omniscient)". ### Bijan Moeinian continuing his advice, Loghman said:] " O my son, even a tiny thing, as small as a mustard seed, hidden inside a stone, anywhere in the universe, can not escape the Lord’s knowledge and grasp; He is the Most Supreme, the Most Knowledgeable. ### Al-Hilali & Khan "O my son! If it be (anything) equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and though it be in a rock, or in the heavens or in the earth, Allâh will bring it forth. Verily, Allâh is Subtle (in bringing out that grain), Well-Aware (of its place). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali "O my son!" (said Luqman), "If there be (but) the weight of a mustard-seed and it were (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, Allah will bring it forth: for Allah understands the finest mysteries, (and) is well-acquainted (with them). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran ˹Luqmân  added,˺ "O my dear son! ˹Even˺ if a deed were the weight of a mustard seed—be it ˹hidden˺ in a rock or in the heavens or the earth—Allah will bring it forth. Even if there be (only) the weight of a mustard seed and it was (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it forth (in the open): Verily, Allah knows (even) the finest mysteries (Lateef) and is Absolutely Informed (Khabir, of them). ### Amatul Rahman Omar (Luqmân continued, ) `My dear son! even if it (-the deed, good or bad) be as little as the weight of a grain of a mustard seed and even though it be hidden in (the hard layers of) a rock or in (the lofty heights of) the heavens or in (the dark womb of) the earth, Allâh is sure to bring it (to light and take an account of it). Verily, Allâh is the Knower of all subtleties (and all hidden secrets) and is All-Aware. ### Ali Quli Qarai ‘O my son! Even if it should be the weight of a mustard seed, and [even though] it should be in a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will produce it. Indeed Allah is all-attentive, all-aware. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü "Ey evladım. . . Şüphesiz Tanrı, latif olandır, (her şeyden) haberdardır." ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim "Oğulcağızım, hakıykat (yapdığın iyilik veya kötülük) bir hardal tanesi kadar olsa dahi, bir kaya içinde, ya göklerde, yahud yerin içinde (gizlenmiş) olsa bile Allah onu getirir, (meydana çıkarır ve hesabını görür). (diye devam etti) "Ortada yalnızca hardal tanesi kadar bir şey de olsa, (yaptıklarınız) bir kayanın içinde (saklı) da bulunsa, yahut gökler(in tepesin)de ve yer(in derinliklerin)de de olsa Allah onu aydınlığa çıkarır: çünkü Allah, kuşkusuz, akıl sır ermez bir (hikmet Sahibi)dir ve her şeyden haberdardır. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı (Lokman:) -Yavrucuğum, bir hardal tanesi ağırlığınca bir şey yapsan, büyük bir kayanın içinde veya göklerde veya yerin dibinde bile olsa, Allah onu ortaya çıkarır.
