Surah Ibrahim (Abraham) — سورة ابراهيم - **Verse:** 5 / 52 · **Juz:** 13 · **Mushaf page:** 254 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ibrahim/verse-5 ## Arabic وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوسٰى بِاٰيَاتِنَٓا اَنْ اَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ اِلَى النُّورِ وَذَكِّرْهُمْ بِاَيَّامِ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ ## Transcription Walaqad arsalna moosa bi-ayatinaan akhrij qawmaka mina aththulumatiila annoori wathakkirhum bi-ayyamiAllahi inna fee thalika laayatinlikulli sabbarin shakoor ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley We sent Musa with Our Signs: ‘Bring your people from the darkness to the light. and remind them of the Days of Allah.’ There are certainly Signs in that for everyone who is steadfast, thankful. ### Progressive Muslims And We have sent Moses with Our signs, that you should bring your people out from the darkness and into the light, and remind them with God's revelations. In this are signs for any who are patient and thankful. ### Shabbir Ahmed (Moses spoke the language of his people. ) We sent him with Our Messages, saying, "Bring your people from darkness to Light and remind them of the days of Allah (when different nations earned His Blessings). Verily, there are lessons in the history of nations for those who are steadfast in their resolve to rise as a community and wish that their efforts be fruitful." (SHUKR or gratefulness is not just the verbal proclamation of 'Thank God!' It pertains to our efforts bearing fruit, and then our sharing of the fruit of success with the servants of Allah). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And We sent Moses with Our proofs: “Bring thou thy people forth out of darkness into the light, and remind thou them of the days of God.” In that are proofs for every one patient and grateful. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And We sent Moses with Our signs: "You shall bring your people out of the darkness and into the light, and remind them of the days of God." " Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. ### Muhammad Asad And [thus], indeed, have We sent forth Moses with Our messages [and this Our command]: "Lead thy people out of the depths of darkness into the light, and remind them of the Days of God!" Verily, in this [reminder] there are messages indeed for all who are wholly patient in adversity and deeply grateful [to God]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall We verily sent Moses with Our revelations, saying: Bring thy people forth from darkness unto light. And remind them of the days of Allah. Lo! therein are revelations for each steadfast, thankful (heart). ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary We indeed sent Moses with Our Signs, saying: "Lead your people out of all kinds of darkness into light, and admonish them by narrating to them anecdotes from the Days of Allah."[1] Verily in it there are great Signs[2] for everyone who is patient and gives thanks (to Allah).[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] The Arabic word ayyam technically means memorable historical events. Therefore Ayyam-u-Allah (divine history) implies all those eventful chapters of human history which mention the rewards and punishments that were meted out to the great personalities and nations according to their deeds in the past ages. - [2] Those historical events are signs in this sense that their proper and intelligent study provides proofs of the fact that there is only one God: and that the law of retribution is universal and is based absolutely on the differentiation between the knowledge and moral practice of the truth and falsehood: that this law also requires another world (the Hereafter) for its due fulfillment. Moreover, these events contain signs that serve as warnings against the evil consequences of building up systems of life on false creeds and theories, and help one to learn lessons from them. - [3] Though these signs are always there, only those persons learn lessons from them who remain steadfast in trials and appreciate the blessings of Allah rightly and are grateful to Him. Obviously, frivolous and ungrateful persons cannot learn any lesson from these signs, even though they might grasp their significance. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab We sent Mussa (Moses) with Our revelations and signs pointing to Allah's Authority and We commanded him to guide his people into all truth and lead them out of darkness and superstitions of later times and out of want of spiritual and intellectual sight into illumination and enlightenment We enjoined him to remind them of the eventful days of Allah, His means of trail and His mode of action. ### Bijan Moeinian I (God) sent Moses with [undeniable] miracles and said: "Lead your people out of darkness into the light and remind them of what they have to do (how to worship God) in each day of the Lord (as well as the history of mankind. ) Those who are patient and grateful will understand it (wisdom of their daily acts of worship.)" ### Al-Hilali & Khan And indeed We sent Mûsâ (Moses) with Our Ayât (signs, proofs, and evidence) (saying): "Bring out your people from darkness into light, and remind them of the Annals of Allâh. Truly, therein are Ayât (evidence, proofs and signs) for every patient, thankful (person)." ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali We sent Moses with Our signs (and the command). "Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light, and teach them to remember the Days of Allah." Şüphesiz bunda çokça sabreden ve şükreden herkes için gerçekten ayetler vardır. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Andolsun, biz Musayi — "Kavmini karanlıklardan aydınlığa çıkar ve onlara Allahın günlerini hatırlat" diye — mucizelerimizle göndermişizdir ki şübhesiz bunda (belalara) çok sabır ve (ni'metlere) çok şükür eden herkes için (ibret verici) alametler vardır. ### İbni Kesir Andolsun ki; Biz, Musa'yı; kavmini karanlıklardan aydınlıklara çıkar ve onlara, Allah'ın günlerini hatırlat, diye gönderdik. Şüphesiz bunda, sabreden ve şükreden herkes için ayetler vardır. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ve nitekim, Musa'ya ayetlerimizi gönderip kendisine: "Halkını kopkoyu karanlıklardan aydınlığa çıkar ve onlara Allah'ın Günleri'ni hatırlat!" diye (emrettik).
