Surah Ibrahim (Abraham) — سورة ابراهيم - **Verse:** 11 / 52 · **Juz:** 13 · **Mushaf page:** 256 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ibrahim/verse-11 ## Arabic قَالَتْ لَهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ اِنْ نَحْنُ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ وَلٰكِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَمُنُّ عَلٰى مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِه۪ۜ وَمَا كَانَ لَـنَٓا اَنْ نَأْتِيَكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۜ وَعَلَى اللّٰهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ## Transcription Qalat lahum rusuluhum in nahnuilla basharun mithlukum walakinna Allahayamunnu AAala man yashao min AAibadihi wamakana lana an na/tiyakum bisultanin illabi-ithni Allahi waAAala Allahifalyatawakkali almu/minoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Their Messengers said to them, ‘We are nothing but human beings like yourselves. But Allah shows favour to any of His slaves He wills. It is not for us to bring you an authority except by Allah’s permission. So let the muminun put their trust in Allah. ### Progressive Muslims Their messengers said: "We are but humans like you, but God will bestow His grace upon whom He pleases from His servants. And it is not up to us to bring you proof except by God's leave. And in God the believers should place their trust" ### Shabbir Ahmed Without exception their Messengers said to them, "Yes, we are human beings like you. Allah gives His grace of Revelation to whom He chooses among His servants. We work within the Laws of Allah that preclude the performance of supernatural miracles." (The right way to attain firm belief is reflecting at the Universe, within our own selves, at the accounts of history, and upon these verses. That is the general approach of the Book). "Then you can attain the belief whence you can firmly put your trust in the never changing Laws of Allah." ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Their messengers said to them: “We are only mortals, like you; but God gives grace to whom He wills of His servants. And it is not for us to bring you an authority save by the leave of God; and in God let the believers place their trust. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Their messengers said: "We are indeed human beings like you, but God will bestow His grace upon whom He pleases from His servants. And it is not up to us to bring you proof except with the permission of God. And in God the believers should place their trust" ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Their messengers said to them, "We are no more than humans like you, but GOD blesses whomever He chooses from among His servants. We could not possibly show you any kind of authorization, except in accordance with GOD's will. In GOD the believers shall trust. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Their apostles said to them: "Indeed we are men like you, but God bestows His favours on whomsoever He wills among His creatures. It is not in our power to bring a miracle for you without the leave of God. The believers should only place their trust in God. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but Allah confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of Allah. And upon Allah let the believers rely. ### Muhammad Asad Their apostles answered them: "True, we are nothing but mortal men like yourselves: but God bestows His favour upon whomever He wills of His servants. Withal, it is not within our power to bring you a proof [of our mission], unless it be by God's leave-and [so] it is in God that all believers must place their trust. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Their messengers said unto them: We are but mortals like you, but Allah giveth grace unto whom He will of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you a warrant unless by the permission of Allah. In Allah let believers put their trust! ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Their Messengers told them: "Indeed we are only human beings like yourselves,[1] but Allah bestows His favour on those of His servants whom He wills.[2] It does not lie in our power to produce any authority except by the leave of Allah. It is in Allah that the believers should put their trust. _Footnotes_ - [1] The disbelievers meant to imply: You are a human being like us in every respect: you eat, drink and sleep like us and have wife and children like us. You feel hungry and thirsty, and suffer from heat and cold, disease and calamities like us. In short, you have every human limitation like us, and we see nothing unusual and extraordinary in you to induct us to accept you as a Prophet and believe that God communicates with you and sends His angels to you. - [2] That is, if you still insist that you are a Prophet, bring a tangible proof of your appointment so as to convince us that you have really been sent by God and your message is from Him. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Their Messengers said to them: "But we are only mortals like you and Allah imparts His grace to those of His worshippers whom He chooses as He will, and it is not for us nor is it within our power to present you with the evidence but with Allah's delegated power and authorization. And in Allah do those whose hearts have been touched with the divine hand put their trust." ### Bijan Moeinian Their prophets replied: "True, we are human beings like you. Do you have any objection if the Lord blesses someone among you and appoint him as His Messenger for you? As for your demand for a miracle, we cannot produce none without the will of the Lord. Know that in God alone the believers put their trust." ### Al-Hilali & Khan Their Messengers said to them: "We are no more than human beings like you, but Allâh bestows His Grace to whom He wills of His slaves. It is not ours to bring you an authority (proof) except by the Permission of Allâh. And in Allâh (Alone) let the believers put their trust. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Their messengers said to them: "True, we are human like yourselves, but Allah doth grant His grace to such of his servants as He pleases. It is not for us to bring you an authority except as Allah permits. And on Allah let all men of faith put their trust. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Their messengers said to them, "We are ˹indeed˺ only humans like you, but Allah favours whoever He chooses of His servants. It is not for us to bring you any proof without Allah’s permission. And in Allah let the believers put their trust. ### Taqi Usmani Their prophets said to them, "We are no more than a human being like you, but Allah bestows His favour upon whom He wills from among His servants. It is not for us to bring you an authority without Allah’s permission, and in Allah the believers must place their trust. ### Abdul Haleem Their messengers answered, ‘True, we are only men like you, but God favours whichever of His servants He chooses. We cannot bring you any proof unless God permits it, so let the believers put all their trust in Him- ### Arthur John Arberry Their Messengers said to them, 'We are nothing but mortals, like you; but God is gracious unto whomsoever He will of His servants. In Allah let believers rely!" ### Mahmoud Ghali Their Messengers said to them, "Decidedly we are nothing except mortals like you; but Allah bestows His Bounty to whomever He decides of His bondmen. And in no way could we come up to you with an all- binding authority except by the permission of Allah, and in (Literally: on) Allah let the believers then put their trust. ### George Sale Their apostles replied unto them, we are no other than men like unto you; but God is bountiful unto such of his servants as He pleaseth: And it is not in our power to give you a miraculous demonstration of our mission, unless by the permission of God; in God therfore let the faithful trust. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed Their messengers (from Allah) said to them: "(It is) true, we are human like yourselves, but Allah grants His grace (mercy) to some of His servants whom He pleases. It is not for us to bring you an authority except when Allah permits. And in Allah, let all men of faith have their trust. ### Amatul Rahman Omar Their Messengers (of God) said to them, `It is true we are nothing but human beings like yourselves but Allâh shows (His) favours (by sending revelations and prophethood) to such of His servants as He will. It is not (possible) for us to bring you an authority except by the leave of Allâh. (We put our trust in Him) and in Allâh (alone) should the believers put their trust. ### Ali Quli Qarai Their apostles said to them, ‘Indeed we are just human beings like yourselves; but Allah favours whomever of His servants that He wishes. We may not bring you an authority except by Allah’s leave, and in Allah let all the faithful put their trust. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Rasulleri onlara dediler ki: "Biz sizin misliniz bir beşeriz. . . Fakat Allah, kullarından dilediğine (risalet) nimetini ihsan eder. . . Allah'ın izniyle açığa çıkması dışında (Bi-iznillah), size sultan (mucizevi güç, kanıt) getirmemiz mümkün değildir. . . Ve müminler artık Allah'a dayanıp güvenmelidir. ### Gültekin Onan Resulleri onlara dediler ki: "Doğrusu biz sizin gibi yalnızca bir beşeriz, ancak Tanrı kullarından dilediğine lütufta bulunur. Tanrı'nın izni olmaksızın size bir delil getirmemiz bizim için olacak şey değil. İnançlılar ancak Tanrı'ya tevekkül etsinler." ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Peygamberleri onlara: "Biz de, demişdi, sizin gibi insandan başka (bir şey) değiliz. Fakat Allah, ni'metini kullarından kimi dilerse ona ihsan eder. Allahın izni olmaksızın bizim size (kaahir) bir hüccet getirmemize imkan yokdur. Mü'minler ancak Allaha güvenib dayanmalıdır". ### İbni Kesir Peygamberleri onlara: Biz de sizin gibi birer insanız, ama Allah kullarından dilediğine ihsanda bulunur. Allah'ın izni olmadıkça biz; size delil getiremeyiz. Mü'minler; Allah'a tevekkül etsinler, demişlerdi. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Elçileri onlara: "Doğru, biz de sizler gibi sadece ölümlü kimseleriz" diye cevap verdiler, "ama işte Allah nimetini kullarından dilediğine bahşeder. Ayrıca, Allah'ın izni olmadıkça, (görevimiz hakkında) bir delil getirmek bizim harcımız değildir. Bu hususta inananlar yalnızca Allah'a güvenmelidirler. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Peygamberleri onlara dedi ki: -Biz ancak sizin gibi birer insanız ama, Allah, kullarından dilediğine iyilikte bulunur.
