Surah Hud (Hud) — سورة هود - **Verse:** 83 / 123 · **Juz:** 12 · **Mushaf page:** 230 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-hud/verse-83 ## Arabic مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَۜ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِم۪ينَ بِبَع۪يدٍ۟ ## Transcription Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika wama hiyamina aththalimeena bibaAAeed ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley piled on top of one another in layers, each one earmarked by your Lord. And they are never far from the wrongdoers. ### Progressive Muslims Marked from your Lord, and they are never far from the wicked. ### Shabbir Ahmed The stones were marked arrows from your Lord. His Requital is never far from those who displace the right conduct with wrong. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Marked in the sight of thy Lord. And Allah 's punishment is not from the wrongdoers [very] far. ### Muhammad Asad marked out in thy Sustainer's sight [for the punishment of such as are lost in sin]. And these [blows of God-willed doom] are never far from evildoers ### Marmaduke Pickthall Marked with fire in the providence of thy Lord (for the destruction of the wicked). And they are never far from the wrong-doers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary marked from your Lord.[1] Nor is the punishment far off from the wrong-doers.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, every stone had been specified by Allah to do some particular work of destruction there, and to hit a particular offender. - [2] This was meant to warn the workers of iniquity who were engaged in their evil work, as if to say: You should not consider yourselves immune from scourge as though it were far from you. If it could visit the people of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him), it could overpower you as well. Neither the people of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) were able to defend themselves against Allah, nor can you frustrate Him now. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab A punishment especially prepared in heaven's realm and it is not far from the wrongful of actions whom it marks for its own. ### Bijan Moeinian Each stone was already destined to hit a given person.
