Surah Hud (Hud) — سورة هود - **Verse:** 73 / 123 · **Juz:** 12 · **Mushaf page:** 229 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-hud/verse-73 ## Arabic قَالُٓوا اَتَعْجَب۪ينَ مِنْ اَمْرِ اللّٰهِ رَحْمَتُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ اَهْلَ الْبَيْتِۜ اِنَّهُ حَم۪يدٌ مَج۪يدٌ ## Transcription Qaloo ataAAjabeena min amri Allahirahmatu Allahi wabarakatuhu AAalaykum ahlaalbayti innahu hameedun majeed ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They said, ‘Are you astonished at Allah’s command? May Allah’s mercy and His blessings be upon you, People of the House! He is Praiseworthy, All-Glorious. ’ ### Progressive Muslims They said: "Do you wonder at the decree of God God's Mercy and Blessings are upon you O people of the sanctuary. He is Praiseworthy, Glorious." ### Shabbir Ahmed Answered the Messengers, "Do you wonder about Allah's Command? May Allah's Grace and Blessings be upon you, O dwellers of the house! May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable." ### Muhammad Asad Answered [the messengers]: "Dost thou deem it strange that God should decree what He wills? The grace of God and His blessings be upon you, O people of this house! Verily, ever to be praised, sublime is He!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall They said: Wonderest thou at the commandment of Allah? The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house! Lo! He is Owner of Praise, Owner of Glory! ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary They said: 'Do you wonder at Allah's decree?[1] Allah's mercy and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house. Surely, He is Praiseworthy, Glorious.' _Footnotes_ - [1] The question was posed to her to remind her that though people of old age do not bear children, it is not beyond Allah’s power to bring this about. Therefore a true believer like her should not show any surprise at the good news when it is conveyed to her from Allah. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab "Do you marvel" "said the Messengers, at the divine command proceeding from Allah! Allah's mercy and blessings be upon you and may all grace be made to abound in you people of the house of Prophethood. " Allah is indeed worthy of all praise. He is the final cause of creation and the highest aim of intelligent creatures. ### Bijan Moeinian The angels replied: "Do you doubt the power of God? The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O population (1) of the Home! Surely He is Ever-Praiseworthy, Ever-Glorious.
