Surah Ghafir (The Forgiver) — سورة غافر - **Verse:** 77 / 85 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 474 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ghafir/verse-77 ## Arabic فَاصْبِرْ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّۚ فَاِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ الَّذ۪ي نَعِدُهُمْ اَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَاِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ ## Transcription Fasbir inna waAAda Allahihaqqun fa-imma nuriyannaka baAAda allatheenaAAiduhum aw natawaffayannaka fa-ilayna yurjaAAoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley So be steadfast, Allah’s promise is true. Whether We show you some of what We have promised them, or take you back to Us, they will in any case be returned to Us. ### Progressive Muslims So be patient, for the promise of God is true. Either We will show you some of what We have promised them, or We will let you die, then it is to Us that they will be returned. ### Shabbir Ahmed Then, (O Prophet) remain patient, for, verily, Allah's Promise always comes True. Whether We let you witness some of what We promise them, or whether We cause you to die, still unto Us they will be brought back. Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And whether we let thee see a part of that which We promise them, or (whether) We cause thee to die, still unto Us they will be brought back. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary So be patient,[1] (O Prophet). Surely Allah's promise is true. Whether We show them a part of the woeful consequences against which We warn them (while you are still in their midst) or We recall you (from this world) before that, eventually it is to Us that they shall be brought back.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, you should have patience at what those people say and do, who are opposing you by disputation and wrangling and want to defeat you by mean devices. - [2] That is, it is not necessary that We should punish every such person who has tried to harm you, in this world and during yow lifetime. Whether a person receives his punishment here or not, he cannot in any case escape our grasp: He has to return to Us after death. Then he will receive full punishment of his misdeeds. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Therefore in patience O Muhammad you possess your soul; the promise of Allah, your Creator, is the absolute truth. We either show you, in your life time, some part of the retributive punishment We have promised them, or cause you to die before you witness this punishment, then to Us they are destined to return. ### Bijan Moeinian God tells you the truth, so be patient Mohammad. whether I let you see the partial consequence of their disbelief or ordain the death upon you before that, they will be summoned to My court on the Day of Judgment. ### Al-Hilali & Khan So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم); verily, the Promise of Allâh is true and whether We show you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم in this world) some part of what We have promised them, or We cause you to die then still it is to Us they all shall be returned. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali So persevere in patience; for the Promise of Allah is true: and whether We show thee (in this life) some part of what We promise them,- or We take thy soul (to Our Mercy) (before that),-(in any case) it is to Us that they shall (all) return. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran So be patient ˹O Prophet˺. Allah'ın va'di gerçektir, mutlaka olacaktır. Artık onlara yaptığımız tehdidin bir kısmını sana göstersek de veya seni kendimize alsak da onlar mutlaka döndürülüp Bize getirileceklerdir. ### Gültekin Onan Şu halde sen sabret, hiç şüphesiz Tanrı'nın vaadi haktır. Sonunda ya onlara vaad ettiğimiz (azab)ın bir kısmını sana göstereceğiz ya da senin hayatına son vereceğiz. Nihayet onlar bize döndürülecekler. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Onun için sen (Habibim) sabret. Şübhesiz Allahın va'di bir gerçekdir. Binnetice ya onlara etmekde olduğumuz tehdidi (n tehakkukunu) kısmen sana göstereceğiz, yahud seni kendimize alacağız. Nihayet onlar ancak bize döndürülüb getirileceklerdir. ### İbni Kesir Şu halde sen; sabret. Muhakkak ki Allah'ın vaadi haktır. Onlara vaadettiğimiz azabın bir kısmını sana gösteririz veya senikendimize alırız. Nihayet onların dönüşü ancak Bizedir. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Sen, sıkıntılara karşı sabırlı ol, çünkü Allah'ın vaadi mutlaka gerçekleşecektir. Ve şu (hakikati inkar ede)nler için hazırladıklarımızı sana ister (bu dünyada) gösterelim, ister (bunların gerçekleşmesinden önce) seni ölüme götürelim, (unutma ki, sonunda,) onlar Bize döndürüleceklerdir. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Sabret, kuşkusuz Allah'ın vaadi haktır. Biz onlara vaat ettiğimiz azabın bir kısmını ya sana gösteririz, ya da seni vefat ettiririz.
