Surah Ghafir (The Forgiver) — سورة غافر - **Verse:** 64 / 85 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 473 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ghafir/verse-64 ## Arabic اَللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ قَرَاراً وَالسَّمَٓاءَ بِنَٓاءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَاَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِۜ ذٰلِكُمُ اللّٰهُ رَبُّكُمْۚ فَـتَبَارَكَ اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَم۪ينَ ## Transcription Allahu allathee jaAAala lakumual-arda qararan wassamaa binaanwasawwarakum faahsana suwarakum warazaqakummina attayyibati thalikumu Allahurabbukum fatabaraka Allahu rabbu alAAalameen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley It is Allah who made the earth a stable home for you and the sky a dome, and formed you, giving you the best of forms, and provided you with good and wholesome things. That is Allah, your Lord. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. ### Progressive Muslims God is the One who made the Earth a habitat for you, and the sky as a structure, and He designed you, and has perfected your design. And He provided you with good provisions. Such is God your Lord. Most Exalted is God, Lord of the worlds. ### Shabbir Ahmed Allah it is Who rendered the earth a dwelling place for you and the atmosphere a canopy (to protect you against extremes of heat and cold and against meteorites (21:32)), and formed you - and formed you so well - and provided you with decent things of life. Such is Allah, your Lord. Most Exalted, then, is Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation God it is who made for you the earth a fixed lodging, and the sky a structure, and formed you and made good your forms, and provided you with good things. So blessed be God, the Lord of all the worlds. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah , Lord of the worlds. ### Muhammad Asad It is God who has made the earth a resting- place for you and the sky a canopy, and has formed you - and formed you so well and provided for you sustenance out of the good things of life. Such is God, your Sustainer: hallowed, then, is God, the Sustainer of all the worlds! ### Marmaduke Pickthall Allah it is Who appointed for you the earth for a dwelling-place and the sky for a canopy, and fashioned you and perfected your shapes, and hath provided you with good things. Such is Allah, your Lord. Then blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Allah it is Who made the earth a dwelling place for you[1] and made the sky a canopy,[2] Who shaped you — and shaped you exceedingly well — and gave you good things as sustenance.[3] That is Allah, your Lord; blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Universe. _Footnotes_ - [1] For explanation, see (Surah An-Naml, Ayat 61 and E.N. 74 )on it. - [2] That is, you have not been exposed to outer space so that heavenly calamities should rain on you and annihilate you completely, but We have built over the earth a fully fortified celestial system (which appears like a dome to the eye), which does not allow any destructive element to reach you; so much so that even the destructive cosmic rays cannot reach you and that is how you are living peacefully on the earth. - [3] That is, We had provided for you such a safe and peaceful place of rest even before your creation. Then We created you and gave you a fine body with most appropriate limbs and physical and mental powers of a high caliber. You did not create this erect stature, these hands and feet, these eyes and nose and ears, this talking tongue and this brain, which is a treasure-house of great capabilities, nor were these created by your mother and father, nor a prophet, or a saint, or a god had the power to create them. Their Maker and Creator was the All-Wise, All-Merciful, All-Mighty Sovereign, Who created Man with this wonderful body to function in the world, when He decided to bring him into being. Then as soon as you were created, you found by His beneficence a vast table laid out with pure provisions containing items of pure food which is not poisonous but health-giving, which is not bitter and tasteless but tasty, which is not rotten and stale and stinking but good smelling, which is not lifeless dregs but rich in vitamins and useful organic substances, so essential for the proper development and nourishment of yew body. Who has provided in such abundance this water, and corn, vegetables, fruits, milk, honey, meat and condiments, which not only add relish to your food but also provide you vitality and pleasures of life? And who has made the arrangements that these measureless granaries of food should go on coming out from the earth endlessly and their supply should never fail? Just consider this: What would have become of life if there had been no arrangement of food and man had been brought into existence suddenly? Is this not a clear proof that Your Creator is not merely a Creator but is an All-Wise Creator and All-Merciful Lord? (For further explanation, see (Surah Houd, Ayat 6); (Surah An-Naml, Ayats 60-66) and the E.Ns thereof): ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Allah is He Who set for you the earth at creation in the order of a settled habitation where you establish your abode and made the heaven, with its regions, spheres, celestial bodies and realms of space, a construction of imposing magnitude. He gave you form and He shaped you and how shapely He fashioned you and He provided you with victuals of the various good and wholesome kinds of provisions; this is Allah, your Creator, blessed be He and praise be to Him Who has the glorious attributes, the Creator of the universe. ### Bijan Moeinian God is the One Who made the earth hospitable for you and put a canopy around it [the ozone layer], gave you the highest faculties [compared to the animals] and provided you the purest provisions [for a healthy life]. Such is God your Lord, Highest in rank and King of the universe. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Allâh, it is He Who has made for you the earth as a dwelling place and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape and made your shapes good (looking) and has provided you with good things. That is Allâh, your Lord: so Blessed be Allâh, the Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy, and has given you shape- and made your shapes beautiful,- and has provided for you Sustenance, of things pure and good;- such is Allah your Lord. So Glory to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran It is Allah Who made the earth a place of settlement for you and the sky a canopy. He shaped you ˹in the womb˺, perfecting your form. And He has provided you with what is good and lawful. That is Allah—your Lord. So Blessed is Allah, Lord of all worlds. ### Taqi Usmani Allah is the One who made for you the earth a place to live, and the sky a roof, and shaped you, and made your shapes so good - and provided you with a lot of good things. That is Allah, your Lord. So, Glorious is Allah, the Lord of the worlds. ### Abdul Haleem It is God who has given you the earth for a dwelling place and the heavens for a canopy. He shaped you, formed you well, and provided you with good things. Such is God your Lord, so glory be to Him, the Lord of the Worlds. ### Arthur John Arberry It is God who made for you the earth a fixed place and heaven for an edifice; And He shaped you, and shaped you well, and provided you with the good things. That then is God, your Lord, so blessed be God, the Lord of all Being. ### E. Henry Palmer God it is who has made for you the earth as a resting-place, and a heaven as building, and has formed you and made excellent your forms; and has provided you with good things! there is God for you!- your Lord! then blessed be God, the Lord of the worlds! ### Hamid S. Aziz Allah is He Who made the earth a resting-place for you and the heaven a canopy, and He formed you, then made goodly your forms, and He provided you with goodly things; that is Allah, your Lord; blessed then is Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. ### Mahmoud Ghali Allah is The (One) Who made for you the earth a reposing and the heaven for an edifice (Literally: a building). And He fashioned you, and made fair your fashioning, and provided you with the good things. That is Allah your Lord; so Supremely Blessed is Allah, The Lord of the worlds. ### George Sale It is God who hath given you the earth for a stable floor, and the heaven for a ceiling: And who hath formed you, and made your forms beautiful; and feedeth you with good things. This is God, your Lord. Wherefore blessed be God, the Lord of all creatures! ### Syed Vickar Ahamed It is Allah Who has made for you the earth as a resting place, and the sky as a canopy (and a cover): And (He) has given you shape— And made your shapes beautiful— And (He) has provided for your living, from things pure and good— Like this is Allah (in His Mercy), your Lord. Therefore Glory (be) to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds (Rab-Al-'Ala'meen). ### Amatul Rahman Omar It is Allâh Who made for you the earth a resting place, and the heaven a means of protection; and physically shaped you (endowing you with special faculties of reasoning and wisdom) and perfected your shapes and faculties (making them excellent in every respect), and provided you with good and pure things. Such is Allâh, your Lord. So blessed be Allâh, Lord of the worlds. ### Ali Quli Qarai It is Allah who made the earth an abode for you, and the sky a canopy, and He formed you and perfected your forms, and provided you with all the good things. That is Allah, your Lord!
