Surah Ghafir (The Forgiver) — سورة غافر - **Verse:** 20 / 85 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 468 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ghafir/verse-20 ## Arabic وَاللّٰهُ يَقْض۪ي بِالْحَقِّۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَيْءٍۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ السَّم۪يعُ الْبَص۪يرُ۟ ## Transcription Wallahu yaqdee bilhaqqiwallatheena yadAAoona min doonihi la yaqdoonabishay-in inna Allaha huwa assameeAAu albaseer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Allah will judge with truth; and those you call upon apart from Him will not judge with anything at all. It is Allah who is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. ### Progressive Muslims And God judges with the truth, while those they call on besides Him do not judge with anything. Certainly, God is the Hearer, the Seer. ### Shabbir Ahmed Allah alone secures all things as the hinges secure the controlled freedom of a swinging door. Whereas those whom they call instead of Him, can secure nothing, for, behold, Allah! He alone is the Hearer, the Seer. (The common rendering here, that Allah judges while others cannot, is linguistically deficient and fails to stand up to reason). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And God decides in justice. Lo! Allah, He is the Hearer, the Seer. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Allah will judge with justice, whereas those whom they call upon beside Him cannot judge at all.
