Surah Ghafir (The Forgiver) — سورة غافر - **Verse:** 16 / 85 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 467 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ghafir/verse-16 ## Arabic يَوْمَ هُمْ بَارِزُونَۚ لَا يَخْفٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ مِنْهُمْ شَيْءٌۜ لِمَنِ الْمُلْكُ الْيَوْمَۜ لِلّٰهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ ## Transcription Yawma hum barizoona la yakhfaAAala Allahi minhum shay-on limani almulku alyawmalillahi alwahidi alqahhar ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley the Day when they will issue forth and when not one thing about them will be hidden from Allah. ‘To whom does the kingdom belong today? To Allah, the One, the Conqueror! ### Progressive Muslims The Day when they will be exposed. None of them will hide anything from God. To whom is the sovereignty on this Day To God, the One, the Supreme. ### Shabbir Ahmed On the Day when they shall come forth, with nothing of them hidden from Allah. Whose then will be the kingdom? -- God's, the one, the omnipotent. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing. ### Muhammad Asad the Day when they shall come forth [from death], with nothing of themselves hidden from God. With whom will sovereignty rest on that Day? With God, the One who holds absolute sway over all that exists! ### Marmaduke Pickthall The day when they come forth, nothing of them being hidden from Allah. Whose is the Sovereignty this day? It is Allah's, the One, the Almighty. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary the Day when they will emerge and nothing of them shall be hidden from Allah. (On that Day they will be asked): "Whose is the kingdom today?"[1] (The whole world will cry out): “It is Allah's, the One, the Overpowering.” _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, though in the world many vain and selfconceited people publicly proclaimed to be the kings and sovereigns, whose, in fact, is the Kingdom today? Who is the Owner of the powers and authority and Whose is the command? If a person hears these words in his right senses, he will be filled with terror, no matter how mighty a king or dictator he might be posing himself to be, and will immediately come to his senses. Here the mention of an historical event will not be out of place. When the Samanid ruler, Nasr bin Ahmad (301-331 A.H.), entered Nishapur, he held a court and after ascending the throne desired that the proceedings be started with recitation from the Quran. At this an elderly pious man came forward and recited this very section of this Surah. When he came to this verse, Nasr was struck with awe; he descended the throne trembling, took off the crown and fell down in prostration, saying: O my Lord, Kingdom is Thine, not mine! ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab The Day when they are fully exposed within and without and none of their aspects or secrets bearing reference to the way they conducted themselves in life, is but to Allah fully disclosed. There and then to whom belong the domination and the supreme controlling power and absolute and independent authority but to Allah, AL-Wahid and AL-Gahhar the One and only and the All Powering. ### Bijan Moeinian On that Day everyone will be completely exposed and no one can hide nothing from the Lord. When it is asked: "To Who belongs the Kingdom of the realm of the creation?", the whole universe will cry out: “To God, the One, the Most Powerful.” ### Al-Hilali & Khan The Day when they will (all) come out, nothing of them will be hidden from Allâh.
