Surah Fussilat (Explained in detail) — سورة فصلت - **Verse:** 30 / 54 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 479 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-fussilat/verse-30 ## Arabic اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا اللّٰهُ ثُمَّ اسْتَقَامُوا تَـتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ اَلَّا تَخَافُوا وَلَا تَحْزَنُوا وَاَبْشِرُوا بِالْجَنَّةِ الَّت۪ي كُنْتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ ## Transcription Inna allatheena qaloo rabbunaAllahu thumma istaqamoo tatanazzalu AAalayhimualmala-ikatu alla takhafoo wala tahzanoowaabshiroo biljannati allatee kuntum tooAAadoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley The angels descend on those who say, ‘Our Lord is Allah,’ and then go straight: ‘Do not fear and do not grieve but rejoice in the Garden you have been promised. ### Progressive Muslims Surely, those who have said: "Our Lord is God", then they did right, the Angels will descend upon them: "You shall not fear, nor shall you grieve. Rejoice in the good news of Paradise that you have been promised." ### Shabbir Ahmed But, behold, as for those who say, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remain steadfastly upright - upon them descend angels, saying, "Fear not, and grieve not, but hear good news of the Paradise that you are promised. Rejoice in the good news that Paradise has been reserved for you. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Surely the angels will come down to those who say, 'Our Lord is God' and then remain steadfast, saying: "You should have neither fear nor regret, but rejoice in the happy news of Paradise that has been promised you. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah " and then remained on a right course - the angels will descend upon them, [saying], "Do not fear and do not grieve but receive good tidings of Paradise, which you were promised. ### Muhammad Asad [But, ] behold, as for those who say, "Our Sustainer is God," and then steadfastly pursue the right way - upon them do angels often descend, [say­ing:] “Fear not and grieve not, but receive the glad tiding of that paradise which has been promised to you! ### Marmaduke Pickthall Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Those[1] who say "Allah is our Lord" and then remain steadfast,[2] upon them descend angels[3] (and say): “Do not fear nor grieve,[4] and receive good tidings of Paradise which you were promised. _Footnotes_ - [1] After warning the disbelievers of the consequences of their opposition to the truth and their stubbornness, the address now turns to the believers and the Prophet (peace be upon him). - [2] That is, they did not call Allah their Lord merely incidentally, nor were they involved in the error to regard Allah as their Lord and at the same time others as well as their lords, but they embraced the faith sincerely and stood by it steadfastly: neither adopted a creed contrary to it later nor mixed it up with a false creed, but they fulfilled the demands of the doctrine of Tauhid in their practical lives as well. - [3] "Then remain upright" has been explained by the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the eminent companions thus: - [4] Anas has reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Many people called Allah their Lord, but most of them became disbelievers. Firm and steadfast is he who remained firm on this creed till his death. (Ibn Jarir, Nasai, Ibn Abi Hatim). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Those who have proclaimed what they reverently entertained in their minds, and put their thoughts in words: " Our Ilah is Allah, the Creator. ", and they have always trodden the path of righteousness and lifted to Him their inward sight, invite the descent of the angels who come down to impel them to the feeling of security and intimate to them thus: " You are not to fear fate nor to grieve over predestined events, and rejoice your hearts and minds at the blissful tidings of winning the Paradise you were promised." ### Bijan Moeinian Those who used to say: "God is our Lord" and led a righteous life, will be welcomed by the Angles, saying: “have no fear or worry, you will enjoy the Paradise which was promised to you. ” ### Al-Hilali & Khan Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allâh (Alone)," and then they stand firm,[1] on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised! ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah", and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear ye not!"
