Surah Fussilat (Explained in detail) — سورة فصلت - **Verse:** 15 / 54 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 477 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-fussilat/verse-15 ## Arabic فَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْاَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ اَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةًۜ اَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ الَّذ۪ي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ اَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةًۜ وَكَانُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ ## Transcription Faamma AAadun fastakbaroofee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo manashaddu minna quwwatan awa lam yaraw anna Allahaallathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoobi-ayatina yajhadoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley ‘Ad were arrogant in the land, without any right, saying, ‘Who has greater strength than us?’ Did they not see that Allah, who created them, had greater strength than them? But they renounced Our Signs. ### Progressive Muslims As for 'Aad, they turned arrogant on Earth, without any right, and they said: "Who is mightier than us in strength" Did they not see that God, who created them, was mightier than they in strength And they were denying Our revelations. ### Shabbir Ahmed Now as for Aad, they behaved proudly in the land doing things contrary to the Truth. And they used to say, "Who is mightier than us in power?" How - could they not realize that Allah, Who created them, is Mightier than they in power? But they went on denying Our Messages, knowingly. Did they not see that God who created them was greater far in power than they? Did they not consider that Allah who created them was greater than them in strength? Why - were they, then, not aware that God, who created them, had a power greater than theirs? Did they not see that Allah, Who created them, is greater in strength than they? They continued to deny Our Signs, ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab As to 'Ad (the 'Adites) who were unjustly extravagant in their accounts of themselves; they counselled deaf and, with inordinate self-esteem insolently said: "Who is greater than us in power; we are the mighty ones yet". Do they not see that Allah Who created them is infinitely greater in power and far mightier than they are and they continued to reject Our revelations. ### Bijan Moeinian People of Ad became increasingly arrogant for no reason. They were challenging any one to be stronger than them. Did they not realize that God, who created them at first place, is much more powerful than they? Yet they refused to submit to their Lord. ### Al-Hilali & Khan As for ‘Âd, they were arrogant in the land without right, and they said: "Who is mightier than us in strength?" See they not that Allâh, Who created them was mightier in strength than them. And they used to deny Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.)! ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran As for ’Ȃd, they acted arrogantly throughout the land with no right, boasting, "Who is superior to us in might?" Did they not see that Allah ˹Himself˺, Who created them, was far superior to them in might? Still they persisted in denying Our signs. ### Taqi Usmani As for ‘Ād, they showed arrogance in the land with no right (to do so), and said, "Who is stronger than us in power?" Did they not see that Allah, who created them, is stronger than them in power? And did they not see that Allah, Who created them, Ever He, is more valiant than them in power? And they used to repudiate Our signs. ### George Sale As to the tribe of Ad, they behaved insolently in the earth, without reason, and said, who is more mighty than we in strength? Did they not see that God, who had created them, was more mighty than they in strength? Onlar, gerçekten kendilerini yaratan Allah'ı görmediler mi? O, kuvvet bakımından kendilerinden daha üstündür. Oysa onlar, bizim ayetlerimizi (bilerek) inkar ediyorlardı. ### Bayraktar Bayraklı — Yeni Bir Anlayışın Işığında Kur'an Meali Ad kavmi, yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklük tasladılar ve "Bizden daha kuvvetli kim vardır?" dediler. Kendilerini yaratan Allah'ın onlardan daha kuvvetli olduğunu görmediler mi? Onlar ayetlerimizi inkar ediyorlardı. ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Ad kavmi ise yeryüzünde haksız olarak büyüklük taslamış, "Bizden daha güçlü kim var?" demişlerdi. Onlar, kendilerini yaratan Allah'ın onlardan daha güçlü olduğunu görmediler mi? Onlar bizim ayetlerimizi inkar ediyorlardı. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Sonra Ad, Arzda bigayri hakk kibirlenmek istediler ve bizden daha kuvvetli kim var? dediler, ya kendilerini yaratmış olan Allahın onlardan daha kuvvetli olduğunu bir düşünmediler de mi? Fakat ayetlerimizi inkar ediyorlardı ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Sonra Ad (kavmi) yeryüzünde haksız yere kibirlenmek istediler ve: "Bizden daha kuvvetli kim var?" dediler. Ya kendilerini yaratmış olan Allah'ın onlardan daha kuvvetli olduğunu bir düşünmediler de mi? Fakat ayetlerimizi inkar ediyorlardı. ### Gültekin Onan Ad (kavmin)e gelince; onlar yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklendiler ve dediler ki: "Kuvvet bakımından bizden daha üstünü kimmiş?" Onlar, gerçekten kendilerini yaratan Tanrı'yı görmediler mi? O, kuvvet bakımından kendilerinden daha üstündür. Oysa onlar, bizim ayetlerimizi inkar ediyorlardı. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Aad (kavmin) e gelince: Onlar yer (yüzün) de haksız yere büyüklük tasladılar ve "Kuvvetçe bizden daha güclü kimmiş?" dediler. Onlar kendilerini yaratıb durmakda olan Allahı — ki O, bunlardan pek çok kuvvetlidir — hiç düşünmediler mi? Onlar bizim mu'cizelerimizi bilerek inkar ediyorlar. ### İbni Kesir Ad'a gelince; yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklük taslamış ve bizden daha kuvvetli kim var? demişlerdi. Onlar, kendilerini yaratan Allah'ın daha kuvvetli olduğunu görmüyorlar mıydı? Onlar ayetlerimizi bile bile inkar ediyorlardı. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı 'Ad (kavmine) gelince, onlar, doğru olan her şeye karşı (çıkarak) yeryüzünde küstahça dolaştılar ve "Bizden daha güçlü kim varmış?" diye böbürlendiler. Hayret! Onları yaratan Allah'ın kendilerinden daha güçlü olduğunu görmediler mi? Ama onlar mesajlarımızı reddetmeye devam ettiler; ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Ad, haksız yere yeryüzünde büyüklenmiş: -Bizden daha kuvvetli kim vardır? demişlerdi. Kendilerini yaratan Allah'ın, kendilerinden daha kuvvetli olduğunu görmüyorlar mı? Onlar, ayetlerimizi bilerek inkar ediyorlardı. ### Süleyman Ateş — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali 'Ad (kavmi), yeryüzünde haksız olarak büyüklük tasladılar ve: "Bizden daha kuvvetli kim var?" dediler. Onları yaratan Allah'ın kendilerinden daha güçlü olduğunu görmediler mi? Bizim ayetlerimizi de inkar ediyorlardı. ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Ad toplumu yeryüzünde haksız bir biçimde büyüklük tasladı da şöyle dediler: "Bizden daha güçlü kim var?" Onlar, kendilerini yaratan Allah'ın, evet O'nun, onlardan daha kuvvetli olduğunu görmediler mi? Bunlar, bizim ayetlerimize de karşı çıkıyorlardı. ### Mustafa İslamoğlu — Hayat Kitabı Kur’an Ad kavmine gelince... Nitekim onlar da yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklendiler ve "Bizden daha güçlü kim var?" dediler. Ne yani onları yaratan Allah'ın kendilerinden daha güçlü olduğunu da mı düşünemediler? Ayetlerimizi de inkar ediyorlardı. ### Süleymaniye Vakfı (Eski Baskı) — Süleymaniye Vakfı Meali Ad halkı, yeryüzünde haksız yere büyüklenmiş ve "Bizden güçlü kim var?" demişlerdi. Onları yaratan Allah'ın daha güçlü olduğunu görmüyorlar mıydı ki ayetlerimiz karşısında bile bile yalana sarılıyorlardı. ### Mehmet Okuyan — Kur’an Meal-Tefsir Âd kavmine gelince, yeryüzünde haksız yere kibirlenmiş ve "Bizden daha kuvvetli kim var!" demişlerdi.
