Surah Fussilat (Explained in detail) — سورة فصلت - **Verse:** 12 / 54 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 477 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-fussilat/verse-12 ## Arabic فَقَضٰيهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمٰوَاتٍ ف۪ي يَوْمَيْنِ وَاَوْحٰى ف۪ي كُلِّ سَمَٓاءٍ اَمْرَهَاۜ وَزَيَّنَّا السَّمَٓاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِمَصَاب۪يحَۗ وَحِفْظاًۜ ذٰلِكَ تَقْد۪يرُ الْعَز۪يزِ الْعَل۪يمِ ## Transcription Faqadahunna sabAAa samawatinfee yawmayni waawha fee kulli sama-in amrahawazayyanna assamaa addunyabimasabeeha wahifthan thalikataqdeeru alAAazeezi alAAaleem ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley In two days He determined them as seven heavens and revealed, in every heaven, its own mandate. We adorned the lowest heaven with lamps and guarded it. That is the decree of the Almighty, the All-Knowing. ### Progressive Muslims Thus, He then made them into seven universes in two days, and He inspired to every universe its affair. And We adorned the lowest universe with lamps, and for protection. Such is the design of the Noble, the Knowledgeable. ### Shabbir Ahmed And He it is Who ordained that they become seven Heavens in two stages and assigned to each heaven its function. And We decorated the sky of the world with shining lamps, and made them secure (that they clash not in their orbits (41:9)). And We adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and as protection. God has adorned the lower heaven [where we live in] with beacons and made it secure. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars)[1] to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali So He completed them as seven firmaments in two Days, and He assigned to each heaven its duty and command. And We adorned the lower heaven with lights, and (provided it) with guard. Such is the Decree of (Him) the Exalted in Might, Full of Knowledge. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran So He formed the heaven into seven heavens in two Days, assigning to each its mandate. And We adorned the lowest heaven with ˹stars like˺ lamps ˹for beauty˺ and for protection. And We have decorated the closest sky with lamps, and protected it properly.
