Surah Fussilat (Explained in detail) — سورة فصلت - **Verse:** 10 / 54 · **Juz:** 24 · **Mushaf page:** 476 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-fussilat/verse-10 ## Arabic وَجَعَلَ ف۪يهَا رَوَاسِيَ مِنْ فَوْقِهَا وَبَارَكَ ف۪يهَا وَقَدَّرَ ف۪يهَٓا اَقْوَاتَهَا ف۪ٓي اَرْبَعَةِ اَيَّامٍۜ سَوَٓاءً لِلسَّٓائِل۪ينَ ## Transcription WajaAAala feeha rawasiya minfawqiha wabaraka feeha waqaddara feehaaqwataha fee arbaAAati ayyamin sawaanlissa-ileen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley He placed firmly embedded mountains on it, towering over it, and blessed it and measured out its nourishment in it, laid out for those who seek it – all in four days. ### Progressive Muslims And He placed in it stabilizers from above it, and He blessed it and established its provisions in four equal days, to satisfy those who ask. ### Shabbir Ahmed And He it is Who placed therein firm mountains towering above it, and bestowed enduring Bliss upon it. And He measured therein its sustenance in Four Seasons, alike for all who (invariably) need it. [2] All this was done in four days.[3] _Footnotes_ - [1] Blessings of the earth imply those measureless and countless things which have been continuously coming out of it since millions and millions of years, and are fulfilling the ever increasing needs and requirements of all the creatures from the microscopic germs to the highly civilized man. Among these the principal blessings are the air and the water by which alone vegetable, animal and then human life became possible on the earth. - [2] This sentence has been interpreted by the commentators in different ways: - [3] Some of them interpret it to mean: The provisions of the earth were placed in it precisely according to the needs and requirements of those who ask, in exactly four days. That is, it took exactly four days, neither more nor less. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab " And He placed therein, in a certain setting, natural elevations* of the earth's surface rising notably above the surrounding level and fixed as with an anchor for stabilization, and He blessed it with His divine favour and He determined its livelihood and the means of sustaining life in four days of the same unit of time and made the sustenance available for all alike who seek His bounty. " ### Bijan Moeinian God is the One Who [after having created the earth] established the mountains and made it hospitable and established an eco-system to provide the needs of the living species in four periods. ### Al-Hilali & Khan He placed therein (i.e. the earth) firm mountains from above it, and He blessed it, and measured therein its sustenance (for its dwellers) in four Days equal (i.e. all these four days were equal in the length of time) for all those who ask (about its creation). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali He set on the (earth), mountains standing firm, high above it, and bestowed blessings on the earth, and measure therein all things to give them nourishment in due proportion, in four Days, in accordance with (the needs of) those who seek (Sustenance). ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran He placed on the earth firm mountains, standing high, showered His blessings upon it, and ordained ˹all˺ its means of sustenance—totaling four Days exactly[1]—for all who ask. ### Taqi Usmani He has placed firm mountains in it (the earth) towering above it, and put blessings in it, and proportioned its foods therein, in four days, equal for those who ask. ### Abdul Haleem He placed solid mountains on it, blessed it, measured out its varied provisions for all who seek them––all in four Days. ### Arthur John Arberry 'And He set therein firm mountains over it, and He blessed it, and He ordained therein its diverse sustenance in four days, equal to those who ask.
