Surah Fatir (The Originator) — سورة فاطر - **Verse:** 37 / 45 · **Juz:** 22 · **Mushaf page:** 437 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-fatir/verse-37 ## Arabic وَهُمْ يَصْطَرِخُونَ ف۪يهَاۚ رَبَّنَٓا اَخْرِجْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَالِحاً غَيْرَ الَّذ۪ي كُنَّا نَعْمَلُۜ اَوَلَمْ نُعَمِّرْكُمْ مَا يَتَذَكَّرُ ف۪يهِ مَنْ تَذَكَّرَ وَجَٓاءَكُمُ النَّذ۪يرُۜ فَذُوقُوا فَمَا لِلظَّالِم۪ينَ مِنْ نَص۪يرٍ۟ ## Transcription Wahum yastarikhoona feeharabbana akhrijna naAAmal salihanghayra allathee kunna naAAmalu awa lam nuAAammirkumma yatathakkaru feehi man tathakkara wajaakumuannatheeru fathooqoo fama liththalimeenamin naseer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They will shout out in it, ‘Our Lord! take us out! We will act rightly, differently from the way we used to act!’ Did We not let you live long enough for anyone who was going to pay heed to pay heed? And did not the warner come to you? Taste it then! There is no helper for the wrongdoers. ### Progressive Muslims And they will scream in it: "Our Lord, let us out, and we will work righteousness instead of the works we used to do. " Did We not give you a long life so that he who would remember would take heed, and a warner came to you Therefore, taste, for the transgressors will have no supporter. ### Shabbir Ahmed And in that suffering they will cry, "Our Lord! Get us out of here. We will do right, not that we used to do." Did We not give you a life-long opportunity replete with reminders for whoever would bethink? And a Warner had come to you. Taste then the fruit of your transgressions, for there is no helper for the transgressors of Divine Laws. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And they will cry out therein: “Our Lord: take Thou us out! We will work righteousness — other than what we did!” — “Did We not give you life, that there should take heed therein whoso would take heed? And the warner came to you — so taste!” And the wrongdoers have no helper. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And they will scream in it: "Our Lord, let us out, and we will work righteousness instead of the works we used to do." Did We not give you a long life so that he who would remember would take heed, and a warner came to you? Therefore, taste, for the transgressors will have no supporter. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament They will scream therein, "Our Lord, if you get us out of here, we will work righteousness, instead of the works we used to do." Did we not give you a life-long chance, with continuous reminders for those who would take heed? Did you not receive the warner? Therefore, taste (the consequences). The transgressors will have no one to help them. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira There they will cry for help: "O Lord, get us out that we may do the right, and not what we used to do. " Did We not give you a long enough span of life so that he who remembered may reflect? And did not the warner come to you? So now taste (the punishment). The iniquitous will have none to help them. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And they will cry out therein, "Our Lord, remove us; we will do righteousness - other than what we were doing!" But did We not grant you life enough for whoever would remember therein to remember, and the warner had come to you? So taste [the punishment], for there is not for the wrongdoers any helper. ### Muhammad Asad And in that [hell] they will cry aloud: "O our Sustainer! Cause us to come out [of this suffering]! We shall [henceforth] do good deeds, not such as we were wont to do [aforetime]!" [But We shall answer:] “Did We not grant you a life long enough so that whoever was willing to take thought could bethink himself? And [withal,] a war­ner had come unto you! Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil deeds]: for evildoers shall have none to succour them!” ### Marmaduke Pickthall And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord! Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long enough for him who reflected to reflect therein? And the warner came unto you. Now taste (the flavour of your deeds), for evil-doers have no helper. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary They will cry out in Hell and say: "Our Lord, let us out so that we may act righteously, different from what we did before." (They will be told): “Did we not grant you an age long enough for anyone to take heed if he had wanted to take heed?[1]Besides, there came a warner to you. So have a taste of the torment now. None may come to the help of the wrong-doers.” _Footnotes_ - [1] This implies every such age of life in which a person may be able to distinguish between good and evil, truth and falsehood, if he likes to, and turn to right guidance instead of deviation, if he wishes. If a person has died before attaining such an age, he will not be called to any account according to this verse. However, the one who has attained this age will certainly be held answerable for his actions. Then, as long as he lives after attaining this age and gets more and more opportunities for choosing and adopting the right path, his responsibility also will increase accordingly; so much so that the one who does not adopt right guidance even in old age will have no chance left for making any excuse. This same thing has been reported by Abu Hurairah and Sahl bin Saad as-Saidi in a Hadith, saying: The one who lives a short life has an excuse to offer, but there is no room for making an excuse for him who lives for 60 years or more." (Bukhari Ahmad, Nasai, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Abi Hatim). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab While in the abysm of Hell, they shall implore Allah in a loud and excited voice, thus: O Allah, our Creator, deliver us out of it. We will imprint our deeds with wisdom and piety contrary to the wrong and the evil We did before. But they shall be told. "Did We not give you life long enough to give a chance to him who was willing to open his heart's ears and to lift to Allah his inward sight!. You received Allah's Messengers who warned you of this unbearable Eventful Event! Therefore, you taste the fatal consequences and do not expect any one to afford you help". ### Bijan Moeinian Therein they will beg: "Our Lord, please give us a second chance so that we engage in good deeds to cover our wrong doings. " The reply will be: “Did I not give you a lifelong chance? Did I not sent you a Warner? Did I not warned you enough with My Revelations? Now taste what you have sown; there is no help for the wrongdoers here.” ### Al-Hilali & Khan Therein they will cry: "Our Lord! Bring us out, we shall do righteous good deeds, not (the evil deeds) that we used to do." (Allâh will reply): "Did We not give you lives long enough, so that whosoever would receive admonition could receive it? And the warner came to you. So taste you (the evil of your deeds). For the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) there is no helper." ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Therein will they cry aloud (for assistance): "Our Lord! Bring us out: we shall work righteousness, not the (deeds) we used to do!" - "Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition? and (moreover) the warner came to you. So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds): for the wrong-doers there is no helper." ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran There they will be ˹fervently˺ screaming, "Our Lord! Take us out ˹and send us back˺. We will do good, unlike what we used to do." ˹They will be told,˺ “Did We not give you lives long enough so that whoever wanted to be mindful could have done so? And the warner came to you. So taste ˹the punishment˺, for the wrongdoers have no helper.” ### Taqi Usmani And they will be crying therein, "Our Lord, take us out (from here), and we will act righteously, not in the way we have been doing before." (Allah will say to them,) “Did We not give you an age in your life in which lesson could have been learnt by the one who wished to take lesson? And (furthermore) the warner had (also) come to you. So, have a taste, because the wrongdoers will have no supporter. ### Abdul Haleem They will cry out loud in Hell, ‘Lord, let us out, and we will do righteous deeds, not what we did before!’- ‘ Did We not give you a life long enough to take warning if you were going to? The warner came to you, now taste the punishment.’ The evildoers will have nobody to help them. ### Arthur John Arberry Therein they shall shout, 'Our Lord, bring us forth, and we will do righteousness, other than what we have done. ' 'What, did We not give you long life, enough to remember in for him who would remember? To you the warner came; taste you now! The evildoers shall have no helper.' ### E. Henry Palmer and they shall shriek therein, 'O our Lord! bring us forth, and we will do right, not what we used to do!' - 'Did we not let you grow old enough for every one who would be mindful to be mindful? and there came to you a warner!- So taste it, for the unjust shall have none to help!' ### Hamid S. Aziz And as for those who disbelieve, for them is the Fire of hell; it shall not finish them entirely so that they die, nor shall the chastisement thereof be lightened to them: even thus do We recompense every ungrateful one. ### Mahmoud Ghali And they scream aloud, "Our Lord, bring us (forth) out. We will do righteousness, other than whatever we were doing." (we say), "And did We not give you long (life), enough to remind him who would remind himself? And the constant warner came to you. So taste (the torment)! So in no way will the unjust have any ready vindicator." ### George Sale And they shall cry out aloud in hell, saying, Lord, take us hence, and we will work righteousness, and not what we have formerly wrought. But it shall be answered them, did we not grant you lives of length sufficient, that whoever would be warned might be warned therein; and did not the preacher come unto you? Taste therefore the pains of hell. And the unjust shall have no protector. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed Therein, they will cry loudly (for help): "Our Lord! Take us out (of here): We shall work good deeds and righteousness, not the (things) we used to do!"— (Their answer from Allah will be:) "Did We not give you (a) life long enough so that, he who would (have listened), was warned? And (moreover) the warner came to you. So you taste (the rewards for your deeds): For the wrongdoers there is no helper." ### Amatul Rahman Omar And therein they will clamour for help (saying), `Our Lord, take us out (of Hell) we will do righteous deeds different from those we used to do (in our previous life). ' (We shall say to them,) `Did We not give you life long enough so that he who might have liked to take heed could take heed during its course? There came a Warner to you as well. So suffer now (the agony of Hell). There is none to help the wrong doers (here). ### Ali Quli Qarai They shall cry therein for help: ‘Our Lord! Bring us out, so that we may act righteously —different from what we used to do!’ ‘Did We not give you a life long enough that one who is heedful might take admonition? And [moreover] the warner had [also] come to you. Now taste [the consequence of your deeds], for the wrongdoers have no helper.’ ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Onlar orada (cehennemde) feryat ederler: "Rabbimiz! Bizi (bu şartlarımızdan) çıkar ki önceden yaptıklarımızdan farklı olarak esas yapılması gerekli olanları yapalım". . . Size orda (dünyada), öğüt alabilecek olanın öğüt alabileceği kadar ömür vermedik mi? Size uyaran da gelmişti. Öyleyse (azabı) tadın; artık zalimler için bir yardımcı yoktur." ### Bayraktar Bayraklı — Yeni Bir Anlayışın Işığında Kur'an Meali Onlar orada, "Ey Rabbimiz! Bizi çıkar. Daha önce yaptıklarımızın aksine iyi işler yapalım" diye feryat ederler. Kendilerine, "Size, düşünecek kimsenin düşünebileceği kadar bir ömür vermedik mi? Size uyarıcı da gelmedi mi? Şimdi tadın azabı! Zalimlerin yardımcısı yoktur" denir. ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Onlar cehennemde, "Ey Rabbimiz! Bizi buradan çıkar ki dünyada iken işlemekte olduğumuzdan başka ameller, salih ameller işleyelim" diye bağrışırlar. (Onlara şöyle denilir:) "Sizi, düşünüp öğüt alacak kimsenin düşünüp öğüt alabileceği kadar yaşatmadık mı? Size uyarıcı da gelmişti. Öyle ise tadın azabı. Çünkü zalimler için hiçbir yardımcı yoktur." ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Ve onlar orada şöyle feryad ederler: "ya rabbena, bizleri çıkar, yapageldiklerimiz gayri yarar bir amel yapalım" ya size düşünecek olanın düşüneceği kadar ömür vermedik mi ki, hem size Peygamber de geldi, o halde tadın, çünkü zalimleri kurtaracak yoktur. ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Ve onlar orada şöyle feryad ederler: "Ey Rabbimiz, bizleri çıkar da yaptıklarımızdan başka yararlı bir iş yapalım." (Onlara): "Ya size orada düşünecek olanın düşüneceği kadar ömür vermedik mi ki? Hem size Peygamber de geldi. O halde tadın; çünkü zalimleri kurtaracak yoktur!" (denilecektir.) ### Gültekin Onan İçinde onlar (şöyle) çığlık atarlar: "Rabbimiz, bizi çıkar, yaptığımızdan başka salih bir amelde bulunalım." Size orada (dünyada), öğüt alabilecek olanın öğüt alabileceği kadar ömür vermedik mi? Size uyaran da gelmişti. Öyleyse (azabı) tadın; artık zalimler için bir yardımcı yoktur. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Onlar orada (şöyle) bağrışırlar. "Ey Rabbimiz, bizi çıkar. Yapmış olduğumuzdan bambaşka iyi amel (ve hareketler) de bulunacağız". Size iyice düşünecek kimsenin düşünebileceği, öğüt kabul edebileceği kadar ömür vermedik mi? Size (azab ile) korkutan da gelmişdi. Şimdi tadın (o azabı)! Artık zaalimler için hiç bir yardımcı yokdur. ### İbni Kesir Onlar orada bağırışırlar; Rabbımız, bizi çıkar da yapageldiklerimizden farklı olarak salih amel işleyelim. Öğüt alacak kişinin öğüt alacağı kadar bir süre sizi yaşatmadık mı? Ve size uyarıcı da gelmişti. Öyleyse azabı tadın. Zalimler için hiç bir yardımcı yoktur. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Onlar orada, (cehennemde): "Rabbimiz! Bizi bu (azap)tan kurtar! Bundan sonra artık (eskiden) yaptıklarımızdan farklı iyi şeyler yapacağız!" diye feryad ederler. (O zaman onlara şöyle cevap vereceğiz:) "Size (orada,) düşünmek isteyen herkesin düşünebileceği kadar uzun bir ömür vermedik mi? Ve (üstelik) size bir uyarıcı da gelmişti. Öyleyse, (yaptığınız kötülüklerin meyvelerini) şimdi tadın bakalım! Zalimler hiçbir yardımcı bulamayacaklardır!" ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Orada var güçleriyle feryat ederler: -Rabbimiz, bizi çıkar da daha önce yaptıklarımızdan başka iyi şeyler yapalım. -Biz size öğüt alacağınız kadar bir ömür vermedik mi, size uyarıcı gelmedi mi? "Sizi, öğüt alacak olanın, öğüt alacağı kadar bir süre yaşatmadık mı? Size uyarıcı da geldi (fakat inanmadınız). Öyle ise (azabı) tadın artık. Üstelik size uyarıcı gelmişti. Artık tadın; haksızlık yapanların yardımcısı yoktur!" ### Süleymaniye Vakfı (Eski Baskı) — Süleymaniye Vakfı Meali Orada avazları çıktığınca bağırırlar; "Rabbimiz! Bizi çıkar; yaptığımızdan başka, yararlı iş işleyelim!" derler. O zaman onlara: "Ders alacak kişinin, ders alabileceği kadar bir süre sizi yaşatmadık mı? Size uyarıcı da gelmişti. Artık azabı tadın. Bizi (buradan) çıkar da (dünyada) yaptıklarımızın dışında iyi iş(ler) yapalım."[2] (Onlara şöyle denecektir:) "Size uyarıcı da geldiği hâlde (gerçeği) hatırlayabilecek kimsenin bunu başarabileceği kadar bir ömür vermedik mi?
