(The Divine Ideology will keep them close). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Friends, that day, will be enemies to one another save those of prudent fear. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Friends on that Day will become enemies of one another, except for the righteous. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament The close friends on that day will become enemies of one another, except for the righteous. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Friends will turn into enemies on that day, except those who fear and follow the straight path. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous ### Muhammad Asad On that Day, [erstwhile] friends will be foes unto one another - [all] save the God-conscious. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Friends on that day will be foes one to another, save those who kept their duty (to Allah). ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary On that Day even bosom friends shall become enemies to one another, all except the God-fearing.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] In other words, only those friendships will remain unaffected which are based on righteousness and piety in the world. All other friendships will turn into enmities, and those who are cooperating with one another in deviation, tyranny and wickedness today, will on the Day of Resurrection, put the blame on others and try to escape. This subject has been treated repeatedly at many places in the Quran so that every person in this very world may fully realize with whom it would be beneficial for him to cooperate and with whom it is harmful. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab There and then shall those who were friends become enemies, but not those who revered Allah and entertained the profound reverence dutiful to Him. ### Bijan Moeinian On that Day the friends will turn into enemies, save the righteous ones. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Friends on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqûn (the pious.
