Surah Az-Zukhruf (Ornaments of gold) — سورة الزخرف - **Verse:** 19 / 89 · **Juz:** 25 · **Mushaf page:** 489 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-az-zukhruf/verse-19 ## Arabic وَجَعَلُوا الْمَلٰٓئِكَةَ الَّذ۪ينَ هُمْ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمٰنِ اِنَاثاًۜ اَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْۜ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْـَٔلُونَ ## Transcription WajaAAaloo almala-ikata allatheenahum AAibadu arrahmani inathanashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayus-aloon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They have designated the angels as female, those who are in the presence of the All-Merciful! Were they present to witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be asked about it! ### Progressive Muslims And they have made the Angels, who are servants of the Almighty, into females! Have they witnessed their creation We will record their testimony, and they will be asked. ### Shabbir Ahmed And they 'make' the angels who are servants of the Beneficent, females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned. ### Muhammad Asad And [yet] they claim that the angels - who in themselves are but beings created by the Most Gracious - are females: [but] did they witness their creation? This false claim of theirs will be recorded, and they will be called to account [for it on Judgment Day]! ### Marmaduke Pickthall And they make the angels, who are the slaves of the Beneficent, females. Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary They claim that angels, who are Allah's chosen servants,[1] are females.
