Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 96 / 129 · **Juz:** 11 · **Mushaf page:** 201 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-96 ## Arabic يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْۚ فَاِنْ تَرْضَوْا عَنْهُمْ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَرْضٰى عَنِ الْقَوْمِ الْفَاسِق۪ينَ ## Transcription Yahlifoona lakum litardawAAanhum fa-in tardaw AAanhum fa-inna Allaha layarda AAani alqawmi alfasiqeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They will swear to you to make you pleased with them, but even if you are pleased with them, Allah is certainly not pleased with deviant people. ### Progressive Muslims They swear to you so that you would accept them. Even if you accept them, God does not accept the wicked people. ### Shabbir Ahmed They swear that you believers may be pleased with them. Even if you accept them, Allah does not accept those who drift away from His Commands (9:23-24). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation They swear to you so that you might be pleased with them; but though you be pleased with them, God is not pleased with the perfidious people. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation They swear to you so that you would accept them. Though ye accept them. Allah verily accepteth not wrongdoing folk. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary [9:96] They will swear to you in order to please you.
