Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 92 / 129 · **Juz:** 10 · **Mushaf page:** 200 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-92 ## Arabic وَلَا عَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ اِذَا مَٓا اَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَٓا اَجِدُ مَٓا اَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِۖ تَوَلَّوْا وَاَعْيُنُهُمْ تَف۪يضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ حَزَناً اَلَّا يَجِدُوا مَا يُنْفِقُونَۜ ## Transcription Wala AAala allatheena ithama atawka litahmilahum qulta la ajidu maahmilukum AAalayhi tawallaw waaAAyunuhum tafeedumina addamAAi hazanan alla yajidoo mayunfiqoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley nor is anything held against those who, when they came to you for you to provide them with mounts and you said, ‘I cannot find anything on which to mount you,’ turned away with their eyes overflowing with tears, overcome by grief at having nothing to give. ### Progressive Muslims Nor upon those who come to ride out with you, while you said: "I do not have any mounts for you;" they turned away while their eyes were flooded with tears out of sadness, for they could not find anything to contribute. ### Shabbir Ahmed Nor is there any blame on those who came to you (O Messenger), requesting that you provide them with mounts (horses and camels). You told them, "I cannot find a ride to mount you on." They turned back with eyes flowing with tears, for sorrow that they could not find the means to spend. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary [9:92] Nor can there be any cause for reproach against those who, when they came to you asking for mounts to go to the battlefront, and when you said that you had no mounts for them, they went back, their eyes overflowing with tears, grieving that they had no resources to enable them to take part in fighting. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Absolved also are those who come to you O Muhammad intending sincerely to join your expedition and you tell them: "I do not have the means to carry you to the battle field" and they weep their fill due to their disappointment.
