Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 91 / 129 · **Juz:** 10 · **Mushaf page:** 200 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-91 ## Arabic لَيْسَ عَلَى الضُّعَفَٓاءِ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَرْضٰى وَلَا عَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنْفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ اِذَا نَصَحُوا لِلّٰهِ وَرَسُولِه۪ۜ مَا عَلَى الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ مِنْ سَب۪يلٍۜ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُورٌ رَح۪يمٌۙ ## Transcription Laysa AAala adduAAafa-iwala AAala almarda wala AAalaallatheena la yajidoona ma yunfiqoona harajunitha nasahoo lillahi warasoolihi maAAala almuhsineena min sabeelin wallahughafoorun raheem ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Nothing is held against the weak and sick nor against those who find nothing to spend, provided they are true to Allah and His Messenger – there is no way open against good-doers, Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful – ### Progressive Muslims There is no blame to be placed upon the weak, or the sick, or those who do not find anything to spend on, if they are sincere to God and His messenger. There is no argument against the good doers; and God is Forgiving, Merciful. ### Shabbir Ahmed Not to be blamed are the physically weak, the elderly, the sick, and the ones who have no means to offer, so long as they are sincere to Allah and His Messenger (48:17). They should keep doing what they can to support the Cause. There is no way of blame against the doers of such good. There is not upon the doers of good any cause [for blame]. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary [9:91] There is no blame on the weak nor on the sick nor on those who have nothing to enable them to join (the struggle in the Way of Allah) if they stay behind provided that they are sincere to Allah and to His Messenger. There is no cause for reproach against those who do good. Allah is All-Forgiving, Ever Merciful. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Absolved from warfare are the weak and the sick and those who are indigent lacking the necessities of life. These are excused to stay at home provided they are sincere with Allah and His Messenger, for the sincere shall always find acceptance with Allah These may contribute to the divine cause in their own way if and when they can. Allah is Ghafurun and Rahimun. ### Bijan Moeinian There is no blame upon those who are weak, sick or cannot finance their participation in the fight to stay behind, so long as they are sincerely faithful to God and His Messenger. The righteous ones among them will bear no burden of shame as God is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. ### Al-Hilali & Khan There is no blame on those who are weak or ill or who find no resources to spend [in holy fighting (Jihâd)], if they are sincere and true (in duty) to Allâh and His Messenger.[1] No ground (of complaint) can there be against the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See the footnote of V.9:120). Tanrı, bağışlayandır, esirgeyendir. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Allaha ve Resulüne hayrhah olmak şartiyle ne zaiflere, ne hastalara, ne de (fakirliklerinden dolayı seferde) harcayacaklarını bulamayanlara (geri kalmakda) bir günah (ve mes'uliyyet) yokdur. (Onlar geri kalmakla beraber memleketde iyilik ediyorlar), iyilik edenlere karşı (da muahazeye) bir yol yokdur.
