Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 70 / 129 · **Juz:** 10 · **Mushaf page:** 197 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-70 ## Arabic اَلَمْ يَأْتِهِمْ نَبَاُ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَقَوْمِ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَاَصْحَابِ مَدْيَنَ وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَاتِۜ اَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِۚ فَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلٰكِنْ كَانُٓوا اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ## Transcription Alam ya/tihim nabao allatheena minqablihim qawmi noohin waAAadin wathamooda waqawmiibraheema waas-habi madyana walmu/tafikatiatat-hum rusuluhum bilbayyinati fama kanaAllahu liyathlimahum walakin kanooanfusahum yathlimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Has the news of those who came before them not reached them the people of Nuh and ‘Ad and Thamud, and the people of Ibrahim and the inhabitants of Madyan and the overturned cities? Their Messengers brought them the Clear Signs. Allah did not wrong them; rather they wronged themselves. ### Progressive Muslims Did the news not come to them of those before them, the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud, and the people of Abraham, and the dwellers of Median, and those overthrown. Their messengers came to them with clarity; it was not God who wronged them, but it was themselves that they wronged. ### Shabbir Ahmed Has not the history reached them of those before them? Of the People of Noah, Aad, Thamud, Abraham's folk, the dwellers of Midyan, and the disasters that befell them. Their Messengers had come to them with clear evidence of the Truth. Allah never did injustice to them. All of them received Messengers who brought them divine illumination and enlightenment.
