Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 48 / 129 · **Juz:** 10 · **Mushaf page:** 194 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-48 ## Arabic لَقَدِ ابْتَغَوُا الْفِتْنَةَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُوا لَكَ الْاُمُورَ حَتّٰى جَٓاءَ الْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ اَمْرُ اللّٰهِ وَهُمْ كَارِهُونَ ## Transcription Laqadi ibtaghawoo alfitnata min qabluwaqallaboo laka al-omoora hatta jaa alhaqquwathahara amru Allahi wahum karihoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They have already tried to cause conflict before, and turned things completely upside down for you, until the truth came and Allah’s command prevailed even though they detested it. ### Progressive Muslims They wanted to cause an ordeal from before, and they turned matters upside down for you until the truth came and God's command was revealed, while they hated it. ### Shabbir Ahmed They have sought to create dissension among you before, and raised difficulties for you (O Prophet). They did that till the Truth came and the Decree of Allah prevailed, though they detested it. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation They sought the means of denial before, and overturned matters for thee, until the truth came and the command of God was made manifest when they were averse. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation They wanted to cause an ordeal from before, and they turned matters upside down for you until the truth came and the command of God was revealed, while they hated it. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament They sought to spread confusion among you in the past, and confounded matters for you. However, the truth ultimately prevails, and GOD's plan is carried out, in spite of them. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira They had tried to create disorder before and intrigued against you, but truth came out in the end and God's will prevailed, even though they did not like it. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) They had already desired dissension before and had upset matters for you until the truth came and the ordinance of Allah appeared, while they were averse. ### Muhammad Asad Indeed, even before this time have they tried to stir up discord and devised all manner of plots against thee, [O Prophet,] until the truth was revealed and God's will became manifest, however hateful this may have been to them. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Aforetime they sought to cause sedition and raised difficulties for thee till the Truth came and the decree of Allah was made manifest, though they were loth. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary [9:48] Surely they sought even earlier to stir up sedition, and turned things upside down to frustrate you until the Truth came and the decree of Allah appeared, however hateful this may have been to them. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab They made it their aim before truth prevailed to sow thoughts of sedition and discord and the wicked plotted against the just. They deranged your ordinary pursuits of life O Muhammad as well as your divine course of action, hoping you would not prevail and firmly establish Allah's system of faith and worship. Ve sana karşı birtakım / nice buyrukları (tersine) çevirmişlerdi (kallebu). Sonunda onlar, istemedikleri halde gerçek geldi ve Tanrı'nın buyruğu ortaya çıktı. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Andolsun ki onlar bundan evvel de fitne (ve fesad) aramışlar, senin hakkında bir takım işler (dolablar) çevirmişlerdi. Nihayet Hak (nusret ve te'yid-i ilahi) geldi. Allahın emri (dini), onların fenalarına gitmesine rağmen, zuhur ve galebe etdi. ### İbni Kesir Andolsun ki, onlar daha önce de fitne aramışlar ve sana karşı bir takım işler çevirmişlerdi. Nihayet Hak geldi ve onlar istemedikleri halde Allah'ın emri zahir oldu. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Aslında onlar bundan önce de fitne çıkarmaya çalışmışlar ve sana karşı (ey Peygamber) türlü türlü düzenler kuragelmişlerdi, ta ki onların hiç hoşuna gitmese de hak vahyedilip Allahın yargı ve iradesi kendini gösterinceye kadar. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Daha önce de fitne koparmak istemişlerdi. Nihayet hak geldi, onlar istemedikleri halde Allah'ın emri galebe çaldı. ### Yaşar Nuri Öztürk — Kur'an-ı Kerim Meali Yemin olsun ki, onlar önceden de fitne çıkarmak istemiş ve nice işleri sana, olduğundan başka türlü göstermişlerdi.
