Surah At-Tawbah (The Repentance) — سورة التوبة - **Verse:** 124 / 129 · **Juz:** 11 · **Mushaf page:** 206 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-124 ## Arabic وَاِذَا مَٓا اُنْزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ اَيُّـكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هٰذِه۪ٓ ا۪يمَاناًۚ فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا فَزَادَتْهُمْ ا۪يمَاناً وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ ## Transcription Wa-itha ma onzilat sooratunfaminhum man yaqoolu ayyukum zadat-hu hathihi eemananfaamma allatheena amanoo fazadat-humeemanan wahum yastabshiroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Each time a sura is sent down there are some among them who say, ‘Which of you has this increased in iman?’ As for those who have iman, it increases them in iman and they rejoice at it. ### Progressive Muslims And when a chapter is revealed, some of them Say: "Who has been strengthened in faith by this" For those who believe, it increased their faith, and they rejoice. ### Shabbir Ahmed Whenever a Surah is revealed some of them (hypocrites) say, "Which one of you has increased in faith?" In fact, it has increased the believers in faith and they rejoice. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And when a sūrah is sent down, then among them is he who says: “Which of you has this increased in faith?” Then as for those who heed warning, it increases them in faith, and they rejoice. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And when a chapter is sent down, some of them say: "Who has been increased in faith by this?" Indeed, it did strengthen the faith of those who believed, and they rejoice in any revelation. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira When a Surah is revealed some of them remark: "Whose faith among you has it increased?" It does increase the faith of those who believe, and they rejoice. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And whenever a surah is revealed, there are among the hypocrites those who say, "Which of you has this increased faith?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith, while they are rejoicing. ### Muhammad Asad YET WHENEVER a surah [of this divine writ] is bestowed from on high, some of the deniers of the truth are prone to ask, "Which of you has this [message] strengthened in his faith?" Now as for those who have attained to faith, it does strengthen them in their faith, and they rejoice in the glad tiding [which God has given them]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And whenever a surah is revealed there are some of them who say: Which one of you hath thus increased in faith? As for those who believe, it hath increased them in faith and they rejoice (therefor). ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary [9:124] And whenever a new surah is revealed some of the hypocrites ask the believers (in jest): "Whose faith has increased because of this?" As for those who believe, it will certainly increase their faith, and they are joyful over that. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab When a Surah is sent down, some of them -the hypocrites- insolently and mockingly say to each other: who among you has this Surah impressed his heart with religious and spiritual virtues? Indeed those whose hearts have been touched with the divine hand are receptive to divine knowledge; it gives them moral support and confidence and increases their force of reason; their hearts become impressed with the image of religious and spiritual virtues. Stirred by emotion, they rejoice beyond a common joy. ### Bijan Moeinian Any time that a new chapter of Qur’an is revealed the disbelievers mockingly ask: "Did this increase your faith?" As a matter of fact, it increases the faith of the believers and make them rejoice. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And whenever there comes down a Sûrah (chapter from the Qur’ân), some of them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith, and they rejoice. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Whenever a sûrah is revealed, some of them ask ˹mockingly˺, "Which of you has this increased in faith?" As for the believers, it has increased them in faith and they rejoice. ### Taqi Usmani When a Sūrah is sent down, some of them (the hypocrites) say, "Whose faith from among you has been increased by this?" So far as the believers are concerned, it has certainly increased their faith, and they are quite happy. ### Abdul Haleem When a sura is revealed, some [hypocrites] say, ‘Have any of you been strengthened in faith by it?’ It certainly does strengthen the faith of those who believe and they rejoice, ### Arthur John Arberry Whenever a sura is sent down to thee, some of them say, 'Which of you has this increased in belief?' Aziz And whenever a verse is sent down, there are some of them who say (sarcastically), "Which of you has thus increased in faith?" So, as for the ones who have believed, then it has increased them in belief, and they are glad at the tidings. ### George Sale Whenever a sura is sent down, there are some of them who say, which of you hath this caused to increase in faith? It will increase the faith of those who believe, and they shall rejoice: ### Syed Vickar Ahamed And whenever a Sura comes down, some of them say: "Which of you had his faith increased by it?" Yes, those who believe— Their faith is increased, and they become happy. ### Amatul Rahman Omar And whenever a Sûrah is revealed there are some of these (hypocrites) who say (scornfully), `Which one of you has this (chapter) increased in faith?' İman etmiş olanlara gelince: (Her inen sure) daima onların imanını artırmışdır ve onlar (Kur'an indikçe sevinçlerinden) birbiriyle müjdeleşirler. ### İbni Kesir Bir sure indirilince; onlardan kimi: Bu, hanginizin imanını artırdı? der. Ve onlar, birbirleri ile müjdeleşirler. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ne zaman bir sure indirilse, o hakkı inkar edenlerin arasından "Bu (haber) hanginizin imanını pekiştirdi?" diye (küçümseyerek) soran birileri çıkar. Ama imana erişmiş olanlara gelince, bu onların imanlarını pekiştirir ve onlar (Allah'ın kendilerine ulaştırdığı) müjdenin sevincini duyarlar. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Bir sure indirilince, aralarında: -Bu hanginizin imanını artırdı? diyen kimseler vardır. O, iman eden kimselerin imanını artırmıştır.
