Surah Ash-Shuraa (Consultation) — سورة الشورى - **Verse:** 7 / 53 · **Juz:** 25 · **Mushaf page:** 482 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ash-shuraa/verse-7 ## Arabic وَكَذٰلِكَ اَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلَيْكَ قُرْاٰناً عَرَبِياًّ لِتُنْذِرَ اُمَّ الْقُرٰى وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَتُنْذِرَ يَوْمَ الْجَمْعِ لَا رَيْبَ ف۪يهِۜ فَر۪يقٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَفَر۪يقٌ فِي السَّع۪يرِ ## Transcription Wakathalika awhaynailayka qur-anan AAarabiyyan litunthira omma alqurawaman hawlaha watunthira yawma aljamAAi larayba feehi fareequn fee aljannati wafareequn fee assaAAeer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Accordingly We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur’an so that you may warn the Mother of Cities* and those around it, and give warning of the Day of Gathering about which there is no doubt: one group in the Garden, the other in the Blazing Fire. ### Progressive Muslims And thus We have inspired to you an Arabic Quran, so that you may warn the capital town and all around it, and to warn about the Day of Gathering that is inevitable. A group will be in Paradise, and a group in Hell. ### Shabbir Ahmed And thus: We have revealed to you a Monograph in Arabic so that you may warn the Foremost of all towns and those who dwell around it, and may warn of the Day of Gathering, which is beyond all doubt. One group will be in the Garden, and one group will be in the Flames. (Such will happen in this world and in the life to come). ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And thus We have revealed to thee an Arabic recitation, that thou warn the mother of cities and whoso is around her, and thou warn of the Day of Gathering whereof there is no doubt: a faction will be in the Garden, and a faction in the Inferno. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And thus We have inspired to you an Arabic revelation, so that you may warn the capital town and all around it, and to warn about the Day of Gathering that is inevitable. Some will end up in Heaven, and some in Hell. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira We have, therefore, revealed to you the eloquent Qur'an that you may warn the people of the Metropolis, and those who live around it, of the Day of Gathering, of which there is no doubt, (when mankind would be assembled) some in Heaven, some in Hell. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur'an that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Makkah] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A party will be in Paradise and a party in the Blaze. ### Muhammad Asad [Thou art but entrusted with Our message:] and so We have revealed unto thee a discourse in the Arabic tongue in order that thou mayest warn the foremost of all cities and all who dwell around it to wit, warn [them] of the Day of the Gathering, [the coming of] which is beyond all doubt: [the Day when] some shall find themselves in paradise, and some in the blazing flame. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And thus We have inspired in thee a Lecture in Arabic, that thou mayst warn the mother-town and those around it, and mayst warn of a day of assembling whereof there is no doubt. A host will be in the Garden, and a host of them in the Flame. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary And thus did We reveal this Arabic Qur'an[1] to you that you may warn the people of the Mother of Cities (to wit, Makkah) and those who dwell around it;[2] and warn them of the Day of Gathering[3] concerning which there is no doubt: whereon some will be in Paradise, and some in the Blazing Fire. _Footnotes_ - [1] The same thing which had been said in the beginning of the discourse has been said again with greater emphasis, and by making mention of the Arabic Quran, the listeners have been warned to the effect: The Quran is not in any foreign language but in your own language, you can understand it yourself directly, study its themes and see for yourself that the pure and selfless guidance that is being given in it can be from none other than the Lord of the Universe. - [2] That is, arouse them from slumber and warn them that there is nothing but destruction in store for them in consequence of the errors of morality and conduct in which they are involved and of the perverse principle on which they have ordered their individual and collective lives. - [3] That is, tell them also that this destruction is not confined only to this world but the Day has to come when Allah will gather together all mankind and subject them to accountability. Even if a person escaped the evil consequences of his deviation and wickedness in the world, there will be no chance of his escape on that Day, and highly unfortunate is he, who is doomed to a tragic fate both in this world and in the Hereafter. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Thus did We inspire to you O Muhammad a Quran in the Arabic literary form to warn the people of the Mother City -Macca- and the people of all cities around. To caution them against the horror and grisly dread which shall dwell without end on the undoubted and inevitable Day of the Throng when some shall be in the beautiful and blissful region of heaven's realm and others in the blazes. ### Bijan Moeinian Thus I (God) have revealed to you this Qur’an in Arabic language so that you may warn the people of your hometown and surroundings about the inevitable Day of resurrection. [On that Day] some will go to Paradise and the rest will go to Hell. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And thus We have revealed to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) a Qur’ân in Arabic that you may warn the Mother of the Towns (Makkah) and all around it, and warn (them) of the Day of Assembling of which there is no doubt: when a party will be in Paradise (those who believed in Allâh and followed what Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم brought them) and a party in the blazing Fire (Hell) (those who disbelieved in Allâh and followed not what Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم brought them).[1] ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Thus have We sent by inspiration to thee an Arabic Qur'an: that thou mayest warn the Mother of Cities and all around her,- and warn (them) of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt: (when) some will be in the Garden, and some in the Blazing Fire. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And so We have revealed to you a Quran in Arabic, so you may warn the Mother of Cities[1] and everyone around it, and warn of the Day of Gathering—about which there is no doubt—˹when˺ a group will be in Paradise and another in the Blaze. ### Taqi Usmani And thus We have revealed to you an Arabic Qur’ān, so that you may warn the mother town, and those around it, and warn (them) of the Day of Gathering, about which there is no doubt-(when) one group of people will be in Paradise, and another group in blazing Fire. ### Abdul Haleem So We have revealed an Arabic Quran to you, in order that you may warn the capital city and all who live nearby.
