Surah Ash-Shuraa (Consultation) — سورة الشورى - **Verse:** 47 / 53 · **Juz:** 25 · **Mushaf page:** 487 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-ash-shuraa/verse-47 ## Arabic اِسْتَج۪يبُوا لِرَبِّكُمْ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ يَأْتِيَ يَوْمٌ لَا مَرَدَّ لَهُ مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ مَلْجَاٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَك۪يرٍ ## Transcription Istajeeboo lirabbikum min qabli an ya/tiyayawmun la maradda lahu mina Allahi ma lakummin malja-in yawma-ithin wama lakum min nakeer ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from Allah which cannot be turned back. On that Day you will have no hiding-place and no means of denial. ### Progressive Muslims Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from God which cannot be averted. You will have no refuge for you on that Day, nor an advocate. ### Shabbir Ahmed Hence, respond to your Lord before there comes to you from Allah a Day which is not to be averted. There will be no shelter for you on that Day nor will you have any rebuttal to what you did. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation Respond to your Lord before there comes a day there is no repelling from God; you will have no refuge that day, nor will there be for you any denial. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation Respond to your Lord before a Day comes from God which cannot be averted. No refuge will you have that day, nor for you will there be any denial. ### Muhammad Asad [Hence, O men,] respond to your Sustainer before there comes, at God’s behest, a Day on which there will be no turning back: [for] on that Day you will have no place of refuge, and neither will you be able to deny aught [of the wrong that you have done]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Answer the call of your Lord before there cometh unto you from Allah a Day which there is no averting. Ye have no refuge on that Day, nor have a ye any (power of) refusal. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Accept the command of your Lord before there comes a Day from Allah that cannot be averted.[1] On that Day there shall be no shelter for you, and none may change your predicament.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, neither will Allah Himself avert it, nor has anyone else the power to avert it. - [2] This sentence has several other meanings also: ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Respond favourably, you people, to Allah, your Creator, before a Day comes when Hereafter shall never be reversed by Allah to Here below, nor shall you find a stronghold, nor can you recourse to the denial of what is true. ### Bijan Moeinian Answer to your Lord’s call before the inevitable Day of Judgment. Remember, there will be no refuge for you on that Day nor a defense. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Answer the Call of your Lord (i.e. accept the Islâmic Monotheism, O mankind, and jinn) before there comes from Allâh a Day which cannot be averted (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). You will have no refuge on that Day nor there will be for you any denying (of your crimes as they are all recorded in the Book of your deeds). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Hearken ye to your Lord, before there come a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah! that Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Respond to your Lord before the coming of a Day from Allah that cannot be averted. There will be no refuge for you then, nor ˹grounds for˺ denial ˹of sins˺.[1] ### Taqi Usmani Respond to your Lord before there comes a day for which there will be no reversal from Allah’s side.
